Wizard News Exclusive: Goblet of Fire could be four hour movie

by Dave Haber, Wizard News Editor in Chief

Previously, we have reported here on Wizard News that the current plan for Goblet of Fire, according to Warner Brothers, was to make a 2 1/2 movie. This has many Harry Potter fans outraged, as this would mean they would have to leave so much of the book out of the movie.

Wizard News has now learned, according to reliable sources inside Warner Brothers, that they are looking into the possibility of making Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire into one movie, four hours long, with an intermission.

It is not known whether this change in thinking on the part of Warner Brothers was due to fan input, or someone inside Warner Brothers who likes the Harry Potter stories enough to insist they not be butchered. In any event, this is very good news for Harry Potter fans!

That's such a fantastic idea! Movies don't have intermissions anymore...... I remember watching Gone With The Wind on TV once, and had to wait for like 10 minutes while the intermission passed by (for some reason they couldn't cut the intermission out on tv hehehe)

And this means the movie will be complete, but you wouldn't have to: 1) pay for 2 movies to see 1; 2) have to wait between watching part 1 for another few weeks (or months) until they release number 2....

I'm all for it.

But, will they raise the price of the movie since it's going to be so long?

And, do you think that it will be complete? I'm just wondering how complete they can make the movie, knowing how much there is to GoF. That book is long, and filled with many details.

Anyway... I'm a lot happier thinking that they will make it a long movie. I don't want to see a split movie and wait a half of a year, or a year for the second part. I guess that we will see.

I'm all for it though... the longer the movie, the better.

Sure, a long movie is fantastic, but to be honest I really think the intermission is a great idea. 4 hours in a movie theatre without a break...one thing I've never experienced and I don't wish to .

I think 4 hours will be enough... I mean they were gonna shorten it to 2 and a half, so that gives them an extra hour and a half (maths whiz! woo hoo!) to add in details that would otherwise be cut... The book is fairly detailed, true... but these people are EXPERT movie makers... if anyone can do it, it's them

Oh, I'm all for a long movie with an intermisson. I just want to have one full movie.

I think that if they really pour the movie into GoF, this movie is going to rock. I'm hoping for great spec effects! We shall see. The World Cup Quidditch match, The Twiwizard Tournment. I think that it will be incredible if they do it right.

Yes!!!!!!!! We won't be cheated AND we get a bathroom break for all of us who have to buy that big soda!!!!!!!!!! I do hope they spend much of the films on the triwizard tournament. Harry grows so much in this "book" and his life changes forever. I really hope that they don't fluff over it all.

Yeah, GoF was the book so far that's shocked me most at the end (mainly because no one told me the end before I had a chance to read it)... but the ending is the most amazing of all, and the most terrifying! In my opinion, this will be the best Harry Potter movie, like it's probably my favorite Harry Potter book (so far)!

GoF is kind of the turning point in the books. I am glad that they are going to give it more time. It needs that time. It's a very important year in Harry's life.

I'm glad to hear that the movie studios are considering making the movie longer. Anything over 2 1/2 hours is good. I really thought that POA should have been at least a 3 hour movie. The extra 40 some odd minutes would have helped the film tremendously.

Here is who will play Cedric Diggery

Robert Pattinson, who is from London, is a strapping 6'1". Like Cedric he's a highly skilled sportsman, taking part in everything from football and athletics to skiing and snowboarding. But he's also reportedly an excellent musician playing guitar and keyboards.

Goblet won't be his first film, he'll be appearing in the movie of Vanity Fair playing Rawdy Crawley and a German film called Kingdom In Twilight. As well as stage roles in Macbeth, Anything Goes and Tess of the D'Urbevilles.
