One of the most important things I believe makes Harry Potter so popular is the 'sneaking'. Harry, Ron and Hermione sneak in and around Hogwarts since the beginning of their school days.

In book 1, they were sneaking to get more info about the Sorcerer/Philosopher's stone.

In book 2, it was the Chamber of secrets...

In book 3, they were sneaking because Harry wasn't allowed to go to Hogsmeade, and because of the whole Sirius Black ** still weeps and cries** thing.

In book 4, it was because of the Triwizard tournament assignments.

In book 5, it was the DA meetings. Although in this new book there wasn't so much **sneaking**... and i missed it... it's like Harry has come to his sense in a way, and realised that he can't go around 'exploring' the castle just like that... *boring*...

And what about book 6? How will the political situation (Fudge accepting Voldemort is back, therefore probably getting Umbridge the Inquisitor out of school), and relationship between Harry and Dumbledore, affect the abilities, opportunities and needs of sneaking?
It's quite different now that all those things had happened. Perhaps the teachers will simply answer to questions Harry, Ron, Hermione and all the students will have about what's happening - both 'out there' and in the castle. And those questions will mostly be about Voldemort's actions.

So who knows why they will be *sneaking* in the book 6. And will they sneak at all. What do you think?

Well, first off, I don't think that Umbridge will ever be back, teaching at Hogwarts again. I think that she will have a very hard time with life for awhile.

I too noticed that the "sneaking" around was a lot less this time. But, you make a good point about Harry growing up and realising that he can't do things like that anymore. Especially now with Voldemort back, and it being very much in the open. The prophecy is in the open, to some as well. And, Voldy is going to do everything that he can to get to Harry and try to kill him. Harry needs to not be sneaking around anywhere, but making sure that he's surrounding by help all the time. He's going to need it.

Yeah, it would probably be like that... and it only proves the next HP books won't be as childish and Enid-Blyton-like as those before. Too bad ... if you ask me. I think adventure and 'sneaking' is what especially draws smaller kids to HP books, and I doubt they will understand why there's less *night tours* around the castle and more describing the moods, characters changing, maybe even reflecting the present situation in the *Muggle* world... and we must have in mind, Harry Potter IS a children's book. Even if the first generation of HP fans has grown up and is *ready to read* the 5, 6, and 7th book, with their darker mood and lot less adventurous, there are new recruits of kids in HP-fanclub coming every day who might not like it.
Anyway, I will certainly *miss* the sneaking... And what about you folks?

I will miss the "sneaking" around. I just like to see Harry have some fun. I don't think he will have time for it in the next book, with the war going on. He may have to do some stealth missions like in Chamber of Secrets when he goes into the forest to "follow the spiders". The books follow Harry as he grows up, and now he is almost a man, so there is less time for the joys and antics of childhood.

Yeah... the bad thing is it's also reminding readers they're growing up too...
Still I hope to see some more sneaking. It all depends on the new DADA teacher, and what (s)he's gonna be like. If you look better, it's always about that. I mean, all the adventures HRH go into are because of their DADA teacher's behaviour, or some mystery that's around him/her.
