| Posted by: Edward Teach | | In actuallity Japan had sent a message to the U.S. government declaring war prior to bombing Perl Harbor. The message however was delayed in getting to the president. I think it was placed in a stack of messages to be distributed or something like that. | | Reply To this Message

I, too, believe "we" say too much. Partly the fault of govt officials releasing too much, partly the fault of irresponsible media/reporting.. because "the people have the right to know!" - which I think is BS. They just want to break a hot story, make a name for themselves and be set for life. There are some news stories that are undeniably harmful to investigations and military operations, etc.

| Posted by: Caps#1 | | The prob. is we have to say what we are going to do or all of these anti-war buffoons would accuse us of a unilateral attack, which they are still trying to do | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Canuck | | Aside from taking the time to try to win international support through diplomacy, which for the U.S. is a euphemism for bribery and intimidation, it does no harm to broadcast the plans to the world, as the enemy is so weak that it doesn't matter. In short, there is no need for a surprise attack. This will not be a war, it will be a slaughter. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Dreamzwalker | | A slaughter? How do you figure?
If they don't fire back and end up surrendering like they have already attempted too - there shouldn't be a high death toll. | | Reply To this Message

Does our army train our soldiers to surrender? Of course they'll fight back. They'll just be slaughtered though.

| Posted by: Edward Teach | | Oh it's not going to be a walk in the park by any means. Those Iraqi solders on the outer fringes near the border will probably lay down their arms and surrender. Howeve as we get closer to Bagdad things will get tougher. The Republican Guard will fight hard and then you have Saddams Elite Body Guards. Of course before they get to the Republican Guards there is that ring of WMD surrounding Bagdad. Oh and don't forget the smoke from all the oil wells he plans to torch. And there is a possiblility that he will blow some Dam's on the Tigris and Euehrates rivers. That would be real bad. Let's hope that he doesn't do that. | | Reply To this Message
