I'm 32 years old, and I live with my partner, in San Diego.
We have 2 cats, who I just adore... Liebe (pronounced lee-bah, german for love) and Luna.
I work in finance for the school district, and I'm finishing up a history degree. Not sure if I'm wanting to teach or do something else within the field.
Like Sherry, I'm an avid book reader. I have read all over my books several times. And, I have a palm pilot which I use to download HUNDREDS of fan fiction from the internet with.
I'm a HUGE Xena fan. Lucy Lawless is my hero in real life... and I just am enamored with her!!! She is amazingly beautiful, and has a kind heart. She is my ideal person.
I really into HP and the Lord of the Rings, as well as Xena fiction. There is usually a book within my reach at all times. I'm obsessed with reading (escaping into a different reality).
Favorite movies... Star Wars, LotR, HP and some others. I love a lot of movies... but I will take a book over a movie ANY day.

Well, my real name's Mike (shocking I know.) I live in Southampton (the sunny part of Britain) and I'm 16 (half KJ's age, but twice as stupid .) I start college soon (I think we do that earlier over here) and I'm currently single (lord knows why ) I started reading Harry the year Book 4 came out (2000) and have been hooked ever since. You guys will all know how painful it was reading that book not long after its release date and then having to wait three years for Phoenix. I like loads of other books by authors such as Philip Pullman, Brian Jacques and of course Tolkien. I'm a big movie-goer just as much as I am a bookworm. I love Star Wars, The Matrix, and am currently a fan of M. Night Shyamalan films. I, like KJ, would be happy to answer any questions.

i LOVE reading books - especially HP, of course .. i also liked the audio books a lot .. and movies of course .. i just didn't like the Lord of the Rings movie, i never went to watch the second part .. i think i stated before that i don't like too much darkness in movies and books .. so there ..

It was indeed ineli. Signs was pretty creepy too. Not many people like Unbreakable or have even seen it, but I think it's just as awesome. I hope he makes more films. I also love Friends and Will & Grace -glad to see someone else does.

Yes! "the sixth sense" was awesome. I recieved Harry Potter as a Christmas present almost 2 years ago. I also love friends and sex in the city. When I was a teen, I loved Steven King Books. Now, I just finished an Anne Rice stage. Movies, don't get to go very often. Babysitters are hard to come by.

I went through my Anne Rice stage. Someday, I will reread the Lestate Chronicles again. It's been a long time since I read those. Like I said, I LOVE reading... and I can't even begin to tell you how many books I've gone through. I was, for about a year, going through the average of one book per day.

Kris, yes I did grow up here. I went to the Grossmont Mall Theaters and the ones in Parkway Plaza. East County girl. SO, you probably saw all the bad movies like Critters also.

Oh yes, I sure did! I went to the Clairemont Drive theatre every week. I saw so many movies, I can't remember them all.

My real name is Alejandra. I was born in Valencia, Venezuela. I am currently living in Tallahassee, Florida finishing my senior year at florida state university. My major is Music Therapy. I am twenty years old and live in an apartment with my boyfriend of five years. We have two beautiful cats: Niño (which means small boy in spanish) and LALA.
I am extremely in love with the world of HP. I think about it very hour of the day and have reread the books I don't know how many times. I am now rereading book one for like the fifth time. I always had the paperback books, but this past december I bought the boxed hard cover set of books 1-4. Know that I am rereading book one (the paperback copy), I highlight every clue that I think might mean something in future books, or anything that I learned in future books that was hinted in book one. The book is filled with clues that you simply don't grab the first couple of times you read it... If anybody tries this, tell me about it! It's awsome!!!!
I also love eating pasta and cheesecake... yummy.

Alejandra, do you play any instruments? I did almost two years of music theory way back when. Instrumental major, flute, then the recession hit and music programs were cut, so there went that major. I also love pasta and cheesecake, the new york type.

I do play instruments. My main instrument is the viola. I have played since I was ten. I also play guitar and piano!
As for the cheesecake, I like it plain, nothing on top. The best slice of cheesecake that I had was at the Cheesecake Factory in Orlando... It was amazing...
I just looooved it!

Oh man, we have a Cheesecake Factory here in San Diego, and it is sooooooooooooo good!! And you know what, I don't even eat dessert there. I always go and have thai lettuce wraps!

there's a cheesecake factory near me, too and their cheesecake is the greatest. but i can't eat too much of it at one time - too rich

I don't want to sound like an unworldly idiot but I thought we could all clarify the systems of each other's schooling, as they all seem to be quite different. In Britian, my part of it anyway, we start school in the school year that we turn 5. Our school year is September-July, with half-term breaks and holidays for Christmas, Easter and Summer. We spend 3 years in Infants School, 4 in Junior School (you can get primary schools that cover this 7-year period) and then 5 years at Senior School. After that you can go to college if you want, and by then you're 16. How does it work with all the rest of you?

Well, about the schools...
Here in croatia kids go to elementary school when they're seven. They spend 8 years there and then, at the age of 15 usually (i was 14), they have to choose which high school to go to. There are all sorts of high schools but there are two big groups: three-year schools, which don't qualify you for college but only work, and when a (wo)man graduates (s)he is 18.
In 4-year schools like gymnasiums you graduate at age of 18 or 19 and u usually have to go to college after that.

And yeah, i know what you mean, Miniluv... all i've been reading and rereading and re-re-reading for all the summer was the Order of the Phoenix...
My Literature teacher will go and she always liked me...

sorry i haven't been on in a few days, i've been busy buying school supplies.

in the US, you start school when you're 5 and enter "kindergarten" (i have no idea what the name means). it varies slightly from school to school, but generally, after kindergarten, there is elementary school which is grades 1-5; middle school/jr. high school which is grades 6-8 and then high school which is grades 9-12. you graduate from high school at about age 18, and from there, you can chose whether or not to go to college.

I think 'kindergarten' is German for 'children's garden, or playground'. More fun than actual learning...

Sure, I can see myself as either McGonagall or Hermione. But, since I'm not a kid, I see myself more as McGonagall. I'm more of a teacher and protector of those who can't stick up for themselves. In real life, I don't like people like Draco & Co., as you've seen from posts around the board. Mean people suck. I like that saying... it's true.

As for Agent Mike... I could totally see him as Sirius. And, just because Sirius went through the veil, I'm not counting him dead. I'm waiting til the very last page of the 7th book. If he hasn't returned by then, I will then believe it, whole heartedly.

I think that Uragit (Meg) would be the PERFECT Hermione. She is really smart in her HP knowledge, and very likeable.

Now, we need a Ron and a Harry. Who will fill those gaps?
What about Dumbledore? I need to see some qualities in some people here to give those titles out.

Comparing offspring - we have a three year old, and twins who have just turned one - all girls! I like reading HP, LOTR and Terry Pratchett. I'm pretty much a Mummy through and through now, but in a previous life I seem to recall working as a psychologist (hence the callsign). I'm 32, but can still get caught up in the ol' adolescent obsession (Sirius . . .) when I'm not changing nappies, that is. Don't you guys think that there should be a school counsellor at Hogwarts, maybe a muggle who just coincidentally used to go out with Sirius when they were all young and free . . . No? You must not have seagulls in San Diego. There's a rule on beaches over here -stand still for more than three seconds and you're a potential target for the shitehawks.

We do have them, but apparently not as many as you do! Ron calls them flying rats.

Well I don't have a problem with rats, nor things that fly. It's when they feel the impending need to turd on you that gets me ticked off.

Hey Sherry, when we were at Monterey Bay, we walked by this store and Heidi pointed something out to me.
So, I went in, and before my eyes was a HUGE area selling these different Otter things... but, they were based off of Harry Potter. Instead, it's Hairy Otter. And, he's wearing those glasses and has the scar! So, I got a mouse pad. It's TOO cute.

Also, Heidi got me the Playstation 2, and the HP and the Sorcerers Stone game!
Might try that out tonight!!!!! TOO COOL, eh?!!!

Welcome back Kris. I did not get any HP things for Christmas, but I did get some books I wanted and the extended version of TT. Overall, very happy.

Well, I am hardly new to INReview, but I am new to the Harry Potter forum so I guess I better introduce myself.

My name is Heather, I'm 26, and live in the United States. I am single and have lots of hobbies, including, reading and movies. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan which is how I got involved with inreview. Fuscia got me interested in Harry Potter a while ago, but I thought it was just a silly children's book so I decided not to read it. I had never even seen the movies. Then when the whole LOTR thing ended in May I decided I needed something new. I remembered Sherry raving about how special HP was and a friend of mine that I work with suggested it too, so I decided to give it a try. I first watched Sorcerer's Stone, to kind of get the idea in my head of what everything looked like. Then I sat down and read all 5 books in about 2 weeks, and then I watched Chamber of Secrets. I haven't seen Prisoner of Azkaban yet. I am waiting until the theaters are less crowded. I have just finished book 5 yesterday so I am going to give myself a day or two of a break and then reread, picking up what ever I missed the first time. The second time i read it I will go much slower.

ok, I've seen this thread once before and I chose to ignore it. But I've been brought back to it so I guess I'd better post something.

My first name is Ashley. I'm 23. I live in Georgia (U.S.) and no I do not taste like peaches I like anything unusual and out of the ordinary. The funny thing is that when my mother ordered the HP books she asked me if I would read them. I told her that I would if she ordered them. I thought that they were a bunch of childrens books much like what a bunch of other people think now. But when they came in I started reading the first one right away and couldn't put them down until I had ran out of HP books to read. Addictive things really. I'd stay up til all hours of the morning reading, and my mother even complained a few times that she was regreting buying the books because all I wanted to do was read 24/7. I'm still like that now. As soon as a new one comes out I've got it and can't get my nose out of it until I've finished it.

I collect ummm...unnatural things. I collect Bleeding Edge Goths ( www.begoths.com ), crucifixes, and on the more "normal" side- TY Beanie Babies.

And something else about Pulse--She really likes diet coke!

Well, at least it's Diet Coke, and not reg Coke. That would be really bad.
They (scientists) say that if you drank one reg soda, each day, for one year, you would gain 15 pounds.

I like the way Diet cokes tast better than regular ones. But I like regular Pepsi better than diet ones.

I HATE Pepsi and Diet Pepsi...
