I just found this website that has some information from interviews with JKR. What do you all think???

Rowling was asked in which Hogwarts room she'd like to be for one hour. She said it would be a room in which Harry has been before, and which is mentioned in book four, but he doesn't know its importance. Yet. (Prefect's Bathroom??)

It's very important to the plot that Harry has his mother's eyes, and that her wand was very good for charms.

Harry has never used the Internet. Dudley is the only one who has a computer, and Harry gets beaten up if he goes too near the keyboard.

Wizards don't need to use the Web. They have an even better way to find out what's happening in the outside world, which Rowling says is more fun than the Internet, but she's not giving hints.

Harry will never have a dragon for a pet. He might have a different pet in the future, but Rowling isn't dropping hints about what it might be.

The choice between what's right and what's easy will be a pillar of the plot in Harry's last 3 years.

Rita Skeeter and Firenze will be back in future books.

The "Arabella Figg" Dumbledore refers to at the end of book four is indeed the same Mrs. Figg that takes care of Harry for the Dursleys in book one.

We will learn more about James' family history in future books

Hermione will lighten up in future books.

she also stated in an interview with the BBC in June, that she has the last chapter to book 7 finished. So, she has the rest of the book to go, but she will be "aiming to tie it all up in a nice big knot". She also said that book 6 would not be as long as 5. Sad for all of us.

Oh yeah... I knew that she had that last chapter finished.

Now... get on book 6 JKR!!! Don't worry about book 7.
Finish book 6 and publish it, PLEASSSSSSSSSSSE!!!!

I'm bummed that book 6 won't be as long as book 5, but isn't she planning on the last two books being pretty long?

I don't think that a smaller book would mean less impact; quality over quantity after all. To be honest, I think TOOTP could have been 100 pages shorter without damaging the plot at all. JKR delivered a pretty good plot in book 1 as well, and the UK edition is only 216 pages long!

Quite true, she did deliver a great book with number 1, and it wasn't anywhere near long!!! I would have loved more, just to have more to to read. But, in general, length of a book doesn't matter if it's delivery is great.

Exactly, if it's anything like TGOF, I'll be happy. Although the series is yet to be completed, I think Book 4 will always be my favourite.

I like ootf so much beacuse it was long... it toke 2 days intead of 1 to read but oh well... i did like the shorter books too.

I agree that longer does not necessarily mean a better story. J.K. did say that she expected 7 to be quite long, as she would have difficulty saying goodbye to the story series. I also can not wait for book 6 to come out. I really hope that the entire series will end without us being left with too many unanswered questions.

I don't see why we would be left with unanswered questions, unless she is planning on writing more in the future. Maybe not right away. Who knows... maybe JKR will write about Harry when he is like 25, settled in his career, married, has children, etc... Anything is possible.

even if many questions are answerd in the first 5 books, there are still many other to be answered..what did Snape do to gain Dombledore's trust?....What will happen to Neville?...What does Voldemort want now that he lost the prophercy?

I was saying that I think that there won't be questions left to be answered after the 7th book is finished!!!! I really hope that we get a good look into the backgrounds of some of the professors, and Harry's family, etc...

Even though the prophecy has been lost, Voldemort will know that one of them must die in order to truly live, right? He wants to be the most powerful wizard, and he wants things the way he started making them all those years ago.

I hope not, Meg. I don't want Harry to die. I want there to be a possible door left open for a future story about Harry and his adult life.

  • We will find out what James and Lily Potter did before they died. (Rowling has also said that James inherited a lot of money, so he didn't need a job that paid a lot of gold. Hmmm... Interesting.)

  • Will we ever see Harry in America?
Unlikely. The battleground is Britain at the moment. -J.K. Rowling (Hmm... She said "at the moment". I wonder if this means the battle will expand to other places, then?)

  • There is more to the Sorting Hat than what meets the eye.

  • Voldemort's old ways are going to rise again. There will be muggle killings and stuff like there used to be when he was in power. (Like we didn't know that already!)

  • There is something very important about Harry's mother that he hasn't yet discovered that he's not going to find out in the next book. It's too important for Book 4. He finds it out later in the series. -J.K. Rowling (And since we didn't learn it in book 5, I'm wondering if it will be in the book 6 or book 7. I hope book 6, because I want to know NOW!)

  • What happened to Harry's Grandparents?
Various interesting things. But again, I'm not gonna share. -J.K. Rowling

  • Professor Snape isn't allowed to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts because Dumbledore thought it would bring out the worst Snape.

  • "I'm not going to say I'll never write anything to do with the world of Hogwarts ever again. Because I have often thought that (if I wrote) book eight, I think it would be right and proper that it should be a book whose royalties go to charity entirely. It could be the encyclopedia of the world (of Hogwarts) and then I could rid myself of every last lurking details, but no not a novel."

  • "I want Harry Potter and his friends to grow up as well as older, though I'll keep it all humorous, well within the tone of the books. I want them eventually to be truly 17 and discover girlfriends and boyfriends and have sexual feelings - nothing too gritty. Why not allow them to have those feelings?" -J.K. Rowling )

  • Hermione's birthday is September 19th, and Ron's birthday is March 1st.

  • Do Harry and Hermione have a date?
No. They are very platonic friends. But I won't answer for anyone else, nudge nudge, wink wink! -J.K. Rowling

  • When Rowling was asked "are there any special wizarding powers in your world that depend on the wizard using their eyes to do something?" Rowling asked why this question was being asked. Then the interviewer said, "Well because everyone always goes on about how Harry's got Lilly Potter's eyes?" To that, J.K. gave this very dodgy answer, "Aren't you smart? There is something, maybe, coming about that. I'm going to say no more. Very clever." So Harry's eyes really MIGHT be important to the story!

  • At some point in the series, Harry might be getting a different pet.

  • "There is a character who does manage in desperate circumstances to do magic quite late in life, but that is very rare in the world I am writing about." - JK Rowling

  • Harry inherited his invisibility cloak from his father James, and James inherited it from HIS father. It's a bit like a family heirloom.

  • There is a connection between where Harry lived with his parents and the founding father of Gryffindor! (Harry lived in Godric's Hollow, and Godric Gryffindor was the establisher of the Gryffindor house!)

  • We'll be hearing more about Crookshanks. (The way JK worded this in her interview made it seem like there's more to Crookshanks than what we think.)

  • In The Connection interview, someone submitted a question to Rowling asking if Snape was ever going to fall in love. J.K. laughed and asked why anyone would ever want to fall in love with him. Then she went on to say that she was very stunned that this question was asked and we would find out why in Book 7.

  • Did Harry ever use magic on Dudley in the real world?
Not so far (hint). -J.K. Rowling

  • Rowling has said that by the series' end, "you do feel a sense of resolution. You find out what happens to the survivors, to those characters who live through all seven books. I know that sounds very ominous. You get a sense of what happens to them subsequently."

I just saw a site that claims J.K. has confirmed that a Weasley will die in the next book. www.hp-theory.home.icq.com/books.html

Okay... went there!! Let me say that if JKR has given those hints out for the last books... :wow: I am sad about a Weasley being killed off. And, if that is true, I sure hope that it's Bill or Charley. I don't want it to be someone that we really know. But, it sounds like the last book is going to hold A LOT of death on both sides, and that there is going to be one HUGE death. I really think that it will be Dumbledore. I can't see her killing off Harry. But, she said that it is possible that he will be killed.

I am afraid that she will go and do a "Frodo" thing, and she will send Harry through the veil. It will probably be Percy who dies in the next book. I hope it is not Bill. I think Dumbledor will die in the last book, but J.K. does not like to be predictable, so maybe Hargrid. I am soooooooo pleased that Lupin-my favorite- will play a large part in 7. If he is Remus, is there a Romulus? Been wondering that since book 3. Just my thoughts.

Good thinking on the "Twins," and only time will tell. It's possible that there is a Romulus.....

Naah...
i think the name Remus just refers to Lupin's (were)wolf part.
If there is Romulus, he has to be Remus's twin, so he would probably be mentioned earlier. I mean, he would go to the same class with Remus, James and Sirius, right?
