| Posted by: agent mike | | I thought the guy who they chose to replace Richard Harriss as Dumbledore wouldn't be as good, but he does actually look the part. I also think Gary Oldman is going to be fantastic as Sirius Black. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Okay... I looked at those, agent Mike. Great stills.
Man, I can not believe how much more mature Hermione looks.
I like that she's gotten away from looking like a bookworm, school girl, and looks more "cute" than before.
Harry looks good, as usual.
I like the way that they show Sirius Black in the shrieking shack. Gary Oldman was a GREAT choice for that part.
And the picture of the new Dumbledore... well, I thought that I wasn't going to be please. He looks good. Now, we will just have to wait and see what kind of job he does. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: agent mike | | I agree that Hermione looks alot more mature. One of the reasons might be that the Director (Alfonso Cuaron) decided to dress them all in teenage ensembles to reflect their adolescence. I think it makes it nice and gritty, and that this film will definitely break away from the cosiness of Chris Columbus' films. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Yes, that's what I'm hoping. I understand that the kids all wear uniforms, but it's nice to see them in normal clothes... looking like the teenagers that they are. I think that we are going to see a lot better things with this new director. Taking the films in a new direction. I can't wait!!! Just wish that it wasn't a year until it comes out. *sigh* | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Yes... I had heard that. Any news on who will direct?
Speaking of the 4th film... do you know if they are splitting it in two parts, or not? I haven't heard anything, and I've looked. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: agent mike | | I don't think they're doing a split. On the internet movie database it's been announced as 'The Goblet of Fire' for 2005 release. No word on director yet. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Oh man... there is NO way that they can make the GoF in a 2 1/2 hour movie. I will be really upset with that... because a lot is going to be left out. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Agent Mike... what site did you get that info about the 4th movie from? Can you give me the link to go see? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Thanks for those links. I'm going to look at that second one over lunch today!!! | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: fuscia | | The director for the Goblet of Fire was the man who directed Four Weddings and a Funeral. His name is Mike Newell. I read it on CNN.com-boy does that give away how old I am. I was pleased to see how the new Dumbledor looks. It will make the transition easier for younger viewers. It just won't be the same without Richard Harris. Gary Oldman!! Yes! He will make a scary yet oddly sexy Sirius. Great casting. I do hope Lupin has the hoarse voice from the books. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Those pictures are great. The Knight Bus looks really scary though. I don't think that I would ever get on a triple decker! | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Uh, yeah! I don't think that I would make it through a ride on a triple without having to change my pants!!! I do okay on double deckers, but a triple.... YIKES!
Have you found any other pictures, Agent Mike??? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: agent mike | | I'm still scouting for them, I'll be sure to post them on this site when I find some. | | Reply To this Message

I agree, I just wish Alan was 5-10 years younger. It would be a shame to see such a character visibly age. That's the same with any long-running film series though; if you don't cast them young to begin with, by the end they'll be geriatrics and won't look the part.

| Posted by: Lawless | | A good thing to point out. Luckily, there is NOTHING that "hollywood" can't do with making people look older, or younger. We will just have to see what they do with all the actors, because they are growing up, and they aren't putting the movies out once a year now. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: agent mike | | I know it's a terrible thing to say, but some of the more senior members of the cast won't be around forever either. We've already lost Richard Harriss, and though his replacement is yet to be judged, who knows what effect such cast alterations could have on the saga. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | I agree. If we're talking it taking like 10 years to finish this, who knows what will happen to the older actors. And, the kids, they will have to change! And that's a bummer of a thought. I really like each of the child actors in the rolls that they currently hold. I know that a lot of you don't like the boy who plays Harry... but I think that he is the right one. And he isn't that bad of an actor. Just needs to learn a little more. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Miniluv518 | | i just have a comment about the trio wearing muggle clothes: at the beginnig of bk 4, during the quidditch world cup, doesn't it seem like people in the magical world have never heard of most articles of muggle clothing? | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Reese, remember that they are wearing muggle clothing to blend in while getting to the world cup? There are comments about how some of the wizards are wearing the strangest combinations of clothing. And I'm sure that they know the clothing... because they live within area's with muggles, and know muggles. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Yes, I don't think that they will ONLY be wearing muggle clothing. I don't think that anyone has said that. But, when they go to their weekend trips, maybe they wear regular clothes? Or, maybe that is outside of school at the Burrow. Who knows? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Pulse | | I hate it when they change the characters. I wish they would keep the same people throughout the entire series of movies. Different actors act differently and may not act the part out as well as the one before them. Besides, I liked the old Dumbledore. They really didn't have to replace him with another actor. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Yes, they did have to replace the original actor for Dumbledore. Richard Harris died earlier this year... in 2003, that is. Or, was it the end of 2002? Can't remember.
Anyway... they didn't have a choice with the change of actors for that part.
As for others... they aren't switching... but they have talked about the possibility of getting new lead actors. The fact that it's taking so long to make the movies.... those kids will be 18 and 20 years old, when they should be 14 and 15. That just won't work. What choice do you have when they aren't being made, back to back, like the trilogy Lord of the Rings was.... | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Pulse | | I had no idea that Richard Harris had passed away I hadn't heard anything about it until now. As for the lead characters getting older, I'm 22 and most people that I encounter think I'm more between the ages of 11 and 14. You should see the looks on their faces when I or one of my parents tell them that I'm 22.
They really couldn't make the Harry Potter movies back to back like they did the Lord of the Ring series. Most of the characters are still in high school and need time to study and go to school. So, it kind of takes a bit more time to make a movie in the HP series. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Oh, I'm sorry that you didn't know. Yes, it was quite a loss to the world when he died.
Many HP fans were sad that our Albus Dumbledore was no longer with us.... he will be missed.
Well, you're right that they couldn't do it straight. But, if they filmed like 6 months out of the year, each year... than that would work. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Pulse | | Yeah, I think they're making a movie a year aren't they? Or am I a little off here? | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Nope... way off!!! They did that with the first two. Number 3 is two years later... and who knows WHEN number 4 will even start to film. That's going to be a really long one, because they are going to make that in two parts. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Then again, they could just get Peter Jackson, and he can change everything, and make the movies short, and work a lot faster.
On second thought... I don't want that. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Pulse | | The fourth and fifth books are both probably going to be really long movies. The books themselves are so long that if they were to only make 2 hour movies out of them, the movies wouldn't be worth seeing. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Pulse | | I wonder how they are going to do that at the theater. Show them both at the same time or show the first part for a few weeks and then show the second? This will be interesting. Twice the fun, excitement and enjoyment | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | I'm guessing that it will be 6 months to 1 year seperated between parts one and two of the 4th movie. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Yes... that is what is rumored. Who knows though We shall wait and see. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Pulse | | I hope there isn't that much of a time gap between parts one and two. By the time the second part comes out, some people my need a refresher on the first part so that the second part makes sence | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: fuscia | | What! 6 months to a year No way! It can not be over 6 months. That sucks. | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Kool1001 | | Did u know they r going to start filming the 4th movie sometime in April 2004! But why would they have to make two movies for it? Like, the Lord of the Ring movies were like 3-4hrs each so why can't these movie be longer than 2 1/2 hrseach? | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: Lawless | | Because HP fans did a petition, and begged for a two part movie. The 4th book is so filled with detail, that to cut out things, you would lose so much. So, at this point, they are saying that they will do a 2 part movie for the 4th book. But, we have a thread on that. This particular thread is for the PoA movie, and pics from it. Welcome to HP! | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: varra | | Good thing Cuaron convinced him... lets hope they stick to the plan of four hours with the intermission! | | Reply To this Message
| Posted by: fuscia | | Wouldn't that be great? I would love a four hour movie.
I wish they would insert the deleted scenes in the movie when it comes out on DVD. I hate having to see them after the movie is over and out of order. | | Reply To this Message
