| Posted by: uragit | | Ya know i was just wondering today what everyone likes about potter and his world. ya know like why do so many people come here and talk about him an dhis world and everything that JKR writes about. What got us hooked on harry potter? so hooked that we talk about it with people on the internet? i know what got mee hooked. the fact that she puts harry in situations that we all have been in. going to a new school not fitting in feeling out of place. She makes everything sound so real that once you start reading and finnish you wonder if there really is "another world" out there. Hey maybe we are muggles. You never know? | | Reply To this Message

Harry and his friends brings back memories of my friendships in high school-oh so many years ago. Many of my adult friends are also Potter addicts. It's just great storytelling. | | Reply To this Message

I personally like Harry Potter because I love the fact that a child is overcoming huge obstacles and exibiting bravery and loyaly. The detail JK Rowling uses to paint the Harry Potter world is facinating... EVERYTHING has magic in it. Trees, trains, birds, people... everything is magical. And above all, it's FUN. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Hmmmmmmmmm, why do I love Harry Potter. Well, first off... what's NOT to love about Harry Potter and the entire world of wizardry?
One of the biggest reasons that I LOVE this series is because even though it's about children, it is written for everyone. It's not a childs book, it's not written like one.
I love the fact that it's placed within our world, making you think that the possibility of this all existing might be. Unlike many other fantasy novels, they take place in different worlds, but this is right here.
Like Mike said... everything is magical. It's not just the people. It's the objects, trees, etc... I like that.
I love how the wizard world really doesn't seem to know all that much about the muggle world, and that there is a certain fascination to learn what they can about the simplest things, like a wall outlet.
The variety of characters is a huge attraction to these books as well. They aren't all the same. There is such a massive difference between all these characters, good and evil.
These books teach lessons to anyone who reads it, with an open mind. There are a lot of things you can learn from the characters and the situations that they are placed in.
Like fuscia said... it brings back memories of high school. I think of the camaradarie that I had with different people that took me from elementary school, through to my graduation some years later. The things that we had been through, done, the trouble we got in, etc... It makes you remember.
Oh well... I could go on and on and on. But, I'm not going to.
Good topic, uragit. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: agent mike | | It's the fact that Rowling excels in all the aspects that make a great author. Not only does she bring humour, suspense and detail to her work, but also has an excellent command of plot complexities, psychological and emotional dramas, and above all, applicability to our own world and lives. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Because it's addicting. Once you pick it up, you can't put it back down. Maybe she's laid a spell over her books, and once you open the cover and read the first sentence, it takes over and you don't have a choice but to continue on through every page. Or wait... maybe it is just the fact that the books are GREAT!!!! | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | That's okay. Even if you don't read other books, at least you're reading. But, let me tell you about the WONDERFUL world of books out there, waiting to be had. Don't sell reading short before giving other books a chance. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Miniluv518 | | why do i read harry potter? like everyone else said, the book are addictive, but it's more than that. jk rowling's fantasy world, characters, and plot are so engaging that you almost forget that it's a whole nother world. i mean, harry could be any of us: he has problems with the opposite sex, his best friends don't always understand him, people spread rumors about him...even though harry's a wizard, he's incredibly real. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Nion | | another reason is because Harry's represent's a universal boy at his age..like in GoF Harry is 15 and he get's mad mad because adults don't bealive him, don't trust, they don't tell him anything..they don't accept him in a adult life even if he faced my Dark Lord and he is still alive | | Reply To this Message
