Clay taking "AI2" Throne?

My friend just IM'ed me saying that she was on her way back from Syracuse, listening to the radio when they started talking about how Ruben's title of the "American Idol" is being taken away because he has done something bad...or did something bad.

The radio started to break up and she couldn't hear anymore...does ANYONE know anything about it? This would be GREAT!

See this thread about Ruben's legal problems and possible breach of contract with FOX and AI2 for taking money from Flava 205 during the his appearances on the show. Could be a big show-stopper for Ruben.

wow! that sucks! what would happen then? they wouldn't just say like, "Clay you can be the American Idol now"....i hope not! its almost better now that Clay's not the winner, because he is doing so well anyways. Please post updates of this if you hear anything, because if Ruben lost the title, that will screw things up!

I haven't heard anything yet, but I think Clay's gunna me on the MTV Music awards...I hope so!

This all is very sad and disappointing.

As for de-throning Ruben, I guess they could. After all, they recently took a title away from a Miss Universe and a long time ago took the title from a Miss America.

However, I believe Ruben is dethroning himself in the court of public opinion ... but then some careers thrive on any controversy.

Ruben dethroning him-self? Wow! I mean, that's a nice gesture and what not, but no-one would do that unless they're looking for publicity! Why go on the show trying to win, only to dethrone yerself in the end?

He'll dethrone himself, Clay will get the title...and all hell will break lose from Ruben's fans.

i think ruben isn't an american idol, even if he did win, i mean WHERE IS HE? he's not on the top internet searches, and his album is doing like 50 times worse than clay's in pre-orders. i wonder how many ruben fan sites there are compared to the massive amounts of clay sites. well, whatever, clay may not be THE American Idol, which he doesn't need anyway, but he is an Idol.

Very true, Clay doesn't need the title, all of his fans support him enough to where everyone can tell who the TRUE idol is. And lemme just say, it AINT Ruben!

I'm not sure about the details of what's going on. If Ruben did something wrong, then he should have to pay for it somehow... but I don't want them to take away his title simply because it would draw attention to the scandal and make everybody coming out of AI (including Clay) seem less credible.
I'm just looking at it from the point of view of somebody who's never watched AI. If they hear about Ruben losing his title, they'll probably just think how unreliable these talent competitions are.

People would think that it doesn't really matter being called "the american idol" if the title can just be revoked as simple as that **! But i think that everyone will be unsure as to what Clay will be -- the runner up, or the winner by default.....?

I think he'd still be the runner up, or maybe just "finalist." I'm hoping pretty soon people will just refer to him as "megastar, Clay Aiken."

that's what he is! A MEGASTAR!!! he really is, on the lycos 50 site they call it the clay aiken phenominon (sp?)
