Who does Lord Voldemort remind me of???

You know... I was just sitting here thinking about how Voldemorts whole idea of the world is that he want's to reign supreme, and will do anything to get that. He kills, he tortures, he instills fear, etc...

You know who he reminds me of?
HITLER, SADAM HUSSEIN, OSAMA BIN LADEN, STALIN

Any of those ring a bell? Well, that's what he's like. He wants to put aside all those that he doesn't agree with. Being half muggle to him doesn't matter. He wants to kill all non magical born people (pure bloods). Concentration camps come to mind.

So, for any of you Voldemort followers out there in the HP world, (NION) think about who you follow. Isn't he just the greatest thing in this world? I think not. He's oppressive, that's what he is. And someday... someday soon, Harry Potter is going to defeat the dark lord and he and the death eaters will be no more.

It's clear that the Harry Potter universe is very applicable to the society of yesterday, today, and probably tomorrow as well. Voldemort could represent any one of the terrorists floating about out there at the moment; Sadam etc. But it doesn't stop there. Fudge's constant denial and bumbling ways make him a dead ringer for Tony Blair. In fact, I think the books are a very accurate depiction of the nature of politics, as well as all the other themes they tackle. Applicability is what makes stories last, which is why these books will become classics.

I also agree with the historical reflections of Voldemort's attempts at purification. For the Dark Lord is himself a half-blood, just as (I think) Hitler was a Jew, or at least was strongly involved with Jewish culture during his earlier years.

I also agree that Voldemort is very Hilter like. Voldemort desires only pure-blood wizards, but he alone can be the only half-blood. Hypocrite. I can also see many political figures in Percy and Fudge as well. How many of our leaders do what they do just to get re-elected, instead of doing what is right?

voldemort is alot like hitler....just think: he wants to kill all the mudbloods to purify the wizarding race. just replace "mudbloods" with "jews" and "wizarding race" with "aryan/nordic race" and you have hitler. he is like hitler in what he stands for AND how he goes about getting it: remember in bk 5 when someone says "alot of people agreed with you-know-who at first, until they saw how far he was going".

Right you are mini. He is soooooooooooo much like Hitler, that it's scary. It's amazing how you can take a fantasy book like HP and have it parellel the real world, and real people.

Nion... don't say that. I mean, Hitler was a very real, and very evil person. He persecuted Jews and gays, because he simply didn't want them to be in this world. He was a sick man. I would never even emulate that <insert whatever bad word you want here>!!!!

don't forget that Hitler also persecuted blacks and gypsies. basically, anyone who didn't fit into his idea of a perfect aryan world.

That's true... he was a real sadistic. Sick man..... just like Voldemort.

and many of his followers hated him but they were forced to do whatever he said because of fear

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

True... just like with Voldemort. He used the curse on his "followers" and they were forced to do his bidding. Not because they wanted to. And some, just because they were too scared to go against him.

And Voldemort reminds me of most of the evil figures presented in the childrens books

Yeah, he's kind of a mixture of Hitler, Satan and Darth Vader.

About Hitler, I read somewhere that he WAS half-jewish (his mother was Jewish) and he was also gay. Well Freud would have something to say about that:.

Hmmmmmmmm... not Darth Vader! Now HE was cool.

Yes, I believe that Hitler was half Jewish, but HATED that fact.
As for being gay? I don't know about that.
But, Freud would have had a field day with Hitler in his chair.

I wonder if JKR wanted Voldemort to represent many "evil" figures throughout our history.

Yeah, he was gay, i read it in a trustworthy magazine.

Anyway, I don't think she wanted Voldemort to *represent * anything... just like Tolkien says about his magical world, it's not 'alegorical', it's just 'appliable'. It's sooo true with Harry Potter world, too. It's *applicability* that makes magic more interesting, not vice versa.

Hitler was gay?No wonder he wanted strong men beside him
Just like Voldemort liked Lucius

There has NEVER been anything published that verifys this!! It is a rumor only. Anyway... let's not discuss Hitler unless we're comparing him to Voldemort.

i compared him to Voldemort..

Yeah I always thought it's kinda funny Narcissa didn't join Death Eaters with Lucius... I mean Rodolphus and Bellatrix both did...

Nion... I was talking in general... not to you!!!
We have gotten on a tangent about him being gay... and that's not what this thread is about. And, I just don't want to take the HP thread in that direction!!!

Do you think that maybe she might be with them, in a different capacity? Voldemort might have Narcissa working for him doing things without being a death eater! Just a thought.

Yeah maybe spreading the spirit of Voldyism while girl-talks or something. But she doesn't appear in any major activity with or connected to Voldemort... Well I guess someone had to guard baby Draco in the Dark Days, ha...?

I doubt that Lucius would "allow" his wife to work as a Deatheater.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

True... he seems to be a rather "I RUN THE FAMILY" kind of man. "Do what I tell you" and that's all there is to it. Draco loves his dad... but I get the feeling that he fears him as well.

Yeap he's such a Taliban. and he scares the HELL out of Draco, I'd say.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

Oh yeah... TOTALLY reminds me of some man from the middle east, like the Taliban. Nice comparison! And look how he treated Dobby! Abusive jerk!

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Maja88

Well it's more like a phrase here, for a 'Neanderthal', patriarhal man, to say that he's a Taliban. I mean in Croatia.
Good thing Dobby isn't like Kreacher. He stands up for himself. Cool elf.

Begin quote. He reminds me of George W. Bush. End quote.

Now THATS scary. And can you tell us how he reminds you of Bush... because I live in the US, and he isn't a dictator, like many other leaders have been, and are.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

I also live in the states and just don't see the comparison. Now George W.= Cornelius Fudge. Much better comparison. Bush is power hungry, and if I must say, a bit inept like Fudge, but definitely not evil. No?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

Good comparison, Sherry. I think that he would definately be a good match to Fudge.

Posted by: Maja88

Why all the non-american folks think Bush is evil? so stupid. Bush is more like... Gilderoy Lockhart, yeah and Cornelius Fudge too. at least from what i see on the tv about him. but it would be interesting to hear, so... by what does Bush resembles Voldemort?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Miniluv518

i live in the US too, and while i strongly dislike Bush, i don't think he's that evil. a power hungry-right wing extremist hypocrite, yes, but evil? besides, to be evil, you have to be intelligent to carry out your plans and whatnot, and bush isn't. intelligent, that is.
