I think the issue of "respect" does a play a role in this, even though it doesn't excuse Kobe's stupidity.

Friends of this girl have been quoted as saying that she was flirting with Kobe and felt that there was some kind of "chemistry" between them.

That means that this girl probably went to Kobe Bryant's hotel room with stars in her eyes, thinking that a rich and famous man was interested in her.

She thought he was interested in her, but really all Kobe wanted was a piece of ass. That's were the "respect" issue comes up. It's the same thing that happened to Mike Tyson. A young woman goes to Tyson's hotel room late at night and Tyson uses her sexually and then kicks her out. This makes the girl feel humiliated, like she has been used like a whore and then thrown out.

Something similar could be going on in the Bryant case. The girl thought there was "chemistry" between herself and a famous man. She probably thought she had a chance to become his girlfriend or something. She willingly went to his hotel room late at night and "fooled around" with him. She ended up having her body used roughly.

Basically I think what happened is that Kobe Bryant was looking for easy sex with a chick who went to his room willingly to fool around. And then the chick who thought there was "chemistry" between herself and a famous man engaged in "fooling around" that turned rough.

There is NO SUCH THING as "innocent until proven guilty !!! Those arguing such things have forgotten two things:

1. They must mean "PRESUMED innocent until proven guilty" which is DEFINITELY different. If you rob a bank, you are guilty, even tho the trial hasn't happened yet. YOU know you are guilty, the bank clerk certainly knows you are guilty, those witnesses who saw you rob the bank definitely know you are guilty, and the police and prosecutors who have seen the video also KNOW you are guilty. You are ABSOLUTELY guilty, but not proven guilty as yet in a court of law !!!!!!!!!

2. The accused is only "PRESUMED innocent until proven guilty" in a COURT OF LAW. Only in the court of law. This does not pertain to public opinion. Just to the courtroom. That means that the judge and jury should wait and withhold judgement until they see that the evidence proves your guilt. Until such time as the evidence shows your guilt, the judge and jury are obligated to keep an open mind and presume you are innocent. Nobody else has to.

Therefore the public and press etc. are free to see and say what they believe, and are under NO obligation to see the bank robber or Kobe as innocent. We are not the judge and jury. We can say he's guilty if we feel he is.

If he has raped this girl, Kobe Bryant is as guilty now , as much as he is at the end of his trial.

I agree with those of ya'll who say Kobe is innocent in the sense that he did NOT sexually assault / "rape" her. I'm a huge Kobe fan and was disappointed to hear about all this drama revolving around him and his marriage. People make mistakes and he obviously made a BIG one by sleeping with that chick.

I highly doubt that he thought something like this would come out of it. Whether Kobe is a great person or a "conniving, under handed person" (quoted from various media), nobody wants their repuation damaged. Period. So I don't think he would risk all his money and a dirty footprint on his clean reputation just for one night of hoopla with some random female.

No one has said anything about Kate violating Compant Policy by going to his room after hours. Every hotel or motel i've ever worked had a very strict policy about going to guest's rooms after hours or any time unless you worked room service. This was to prevent any one from engaging in the "oldest profession" in the world, and to prevent possible lawsuits to the firm.

It seems she was working this job for tuition money so violating this rule would mean termination.

Those who are trying to make this case about race are absurd. When the case comes out in public including with the details of the sexual assault (the sex was consensual the sodomy was not) everyone will see what happened. This girl also did not "WAIT" as post after idiotic post has claimed. Faber had a rape kit done the next morning. The guilt and shame of telling what happened had to be horrible, but she went forward. She is also not going to be paid off by Kobe.

The fact that this case is racially polarized like O.J. pisses me off. Kobe will be found guilty because there is better evidence in this case, unlike Nicole who could not point her dead fingers at the Juice. What I think we have here is a public that has nothing better to do than read and spread gossip. On LKLive last night, coments were made that all NBA players have sex shile on the road. I doubt if that is true, but consider this. All celebs are followed by groupies. The temptation is great. The groupie is normally looking for bragging rights to say they had sex with a big name. In rare cases they are looking for a big payout.

This phenomena is not restricted to celebs. After years of going to conventions and being on the road, the number of sexual encounters by senior management is probably greater than that of pro athletes. The theory that men are more sexually active than women is not longer true. It takes two to tango.

Why don't we wait for the verdict before we the public and press ruin the lifes of these two anymore has already been done. For those of you taht believe Kobe hs a responsibility as a role model for our kids, look no farther than yourself for a role model.

I haven't seen a thread with this much ignorance in it in a long time. It's pathetic that so many people are driven by assumptions rather than facts & evidence.

Here are some simple common-sense reminders that a lot of you need to pay attention to:
