Let begin by saying I am NOT bashing anyone here.

Image:

-- I just read an excerpt of Ruben's Rolling Stone feature article ... and what a difference from Clay's feature article.

Clay was presented as, warm, engaging, talented, hardworking and complex.

Ruben is presented as ... well ... not very nice.

Currently in the News:

-- Ruben has filed a lawsuit against Flava, the 205 shirt maker seeking compensation for the use of his image and for his part in increasing their sales.

-- Clay has started a charitable foundation for autistic kids, called the Bubel-Aiken Foundation. ( Diane Bubel is the mom of the autistic boy who encouraged Clay to audition for AI )

Ruben needs better publicists or something.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Bad Thought ! - What if he came up with this all himself. Surely his head has not inflated that big. Hopefully he is taking advise from someone, and he will see very soon that the advise he has been getting is bad, bad, bad.

Ruben comes off as really being a nice guy, and I would really like to think he is. If Clay picked him as a friend, then he can't be all that bad. So until proven otherwise, I choose to think that Ruben is just getting really, really, really bad advise.

mmf ... did you read the Ruben's Rolling Stone article excerpt ?

I posted it in the AI forum, but here's the link again for your covenience.

The weight stuff in his article is unfortunate, but the stuff about his general demeaner can be if not career ending then certainly image bending !

I like to think he is a nice guy too but ....

I have to admit, I did not read the article. I still think there is some good in this guy, but by some of the things that came out in the article he has let so called "stardom" really go to his head. Why would he let the Rolling Stone hear him talking like that. How degrading to the women that really like him. How degrading to the women who just want to be a groupie. NO more important, how degrading to women in general. His mom should be slapping him up side the head.

Ruben needs to open his eyes fast, or he will be a has been faster then he can change his 205 shirt. In the Rap world he is nothing new. There are hundreds if not thousands that look and sound just like him. He needs to realize that people of all races put him where he is today. People voted by what they heard. To change this now and go a different way in the music in my opinion is a call for disaster.

OMG. I have to agree with you, mymisfit. I was fine with the article and let some of the "bragging" go, but once I read the end, I was like, "WOAH BUDDY!!!!! If your mama heard you say that, she would seriously give you a spanking and then make you eat a bar of soap!" I cannot believe what I just read! I hope to God that that was just a typo by the editor and not true.

Hey, you guys remember the Clay article, right? (of course y'all do!) Remember when Clay stated (not word for word, but the general idea) "In this business, you're either a womanizer or gay... I am neither" I believe Ruben falls into the "womanizer" catagory.
But again, I hope this is completely FALSE and made up. But then again, why would they make the American Idol look bad on purpose? And have you ever noticed that Rolling Stone is the only ones who did not show Ruben as some superhero or immortal like they do everywhere else? (AI, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, E! News Live, YM, Seventeen, and the list goes on.) Now that the shock of the article has died down for me, I'm now finding myself laughing!!! Hahaha... It's about time Ruben's image has become a little more real.... except for the womanizer part... That I'm just going to pretend I didn't read that.

i read the article, and is it just me or did rolling stone make CLAY seem better in Ruben's article? I mean, Ruben is laughing about welfare food and talking about what kind of girl he wants to have backstage!! I don't think this is the way "The American Idol" should be portrayed. Clay's article made him seem so strong and brave, and in Ruben's they make him seem like an over-eating chick magnet. Well, not so much as a "chick magnet", but someone who goes out searching for hot girls to "bring backstage". Let's hope R. Kelly didn't have THAT much of an influence on him! I mean, Clay is just great, ( ) but I wanna know what's up with this, why did they choose to do Clay's story first, and then when RS did a cover story on Ruben they make him seem, well.........."not nice" Hmmmmmmmmm....this is weird to me.
