The giant brother of Hagrid

Book 5: HP & the Order of the Phoenix Forum

Can anybody tell me what the segment with the brother of Hagrid was about? Or is this also something we are going to read about in the next books. I find too many things not really worked out.

I think that we will see something with his brother in the next book. He can't just be left in the forest with no more information on him. Besides, it's obvious that he loves his brother.

Maybe the giants will come to the rescue in the end and safe the wizard world!

I may be wrong, but I think we have seen most of what we are going to see of the giants. This book gave them enough attention for there to be no need for their antics in future books.

I do hope we will not see much of them again, but why bring the thin storyline in this book then. She could just as wellleft it out of the book if she is not going to bring them on again!

I think that she was just wanting to bring an introduction in to the book, so that we will have more of a story in the next book.

I just don't understand what giants can do for any side - Dumbledore's or Voldemort's. I mean, there's only a few of them left. It would be so much better to have *vampires* in the story... I know, they're described in thousands of movies but still it would be interesting to see how JKR would interprete THAT legend.

Well, I don't see why there couldn't be vampires in here story. There were already books written about them, from that idiot DADA professor. So, we know that they exist.

I really don't think that the giants will come to play in the books, unless they themselves feel threatened and have to do something in order to survive. It's possible... but it doesn't seem like it.

I would like to see a lot of mythological characters come to play with the war that has come to brew. How about some dragons? We know that they are real... and could be brought in to ride, or used to fight.

Oh yeah... that would be great to see that there are more around, other than Fawkes. They could be used with healing.

Correct. I'm sure that there are so many different potions out there. I know that I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons since I was a teenager, and there are a lot of different magical items and potions that are in that "world" of fantasy. JKR could introduce a lot of new things during this war that would be amazing.

I've had mage and wizard characters, and some of the spells that they are able to do are amazing. I would love to see some of them introduced into the next couple of books.

and of course my Lord could make new spell

Now, we've completely strayed from the topic of this thread! Oh, we are sooooooooo bad!! *slapping hand* I should know better. I will be like Dobby and have to punish myself for straying from the rules that I myself are supposed to enforce.

Do you think that Hagrids brother will stay in the forest and maybe get the other creatues in there to all come together and help to defend Hogwarts and the students? That's a possibility.

i'm not sure if that would happen - remember how the centaurs and other creature's didn't like hagrid's brother?

and i think that if the giants go over to voldemort's side, we will be seeing alot more of them. after all, it says somewhere in bk 4 that the last time the giants were aligned w/ voldemort, they commited lots of brutal murders.

Well, prepare for them to work with Voldemort again.
I'm not saying that they will... but knowing that this next book is all about the 2nd war, I think that we are going to see a lot of people aligning themselves with one or the other side. And who knows where/what the giants will do. At least Hagrid's brother is on our side, and maybe he can make a difference with getting the other giants to help.
