Kazaa Song Tampering

Haven't used a chat room before so excuse me if this isn't the right way to ask a question. This is regarding problems downloading certain songs from Kazaa. Do you know if the record companies have hired hackers to tamper with the process? Several songs I've tried to get lately have a few seconds of something with nothing to do with the downloaded songs then dead air.

If it is only several songs and not ALL of them...it could just be a fluke in the download process or the song just doesn't exist. have you tried downloading that song from several listings?

I have Norton and ZoneAlarm and have no record of any virus.
I have tried to download the same songs from different sources many times and always get the same crap. For example, in trying to get any songs by Jake Simpson I get a few seconds of some rap song then nothing. Also, anything by the Thorns, I get a different rap song beginning then nothing. Also, any new songs by Dido I get a few seconds of one of her older songs then nothing. I can get her older songs, no problem, so this has lead me to believe someone is messing with the system somehow. I don't have any other problems and these are the only instances (so far) that I have had any trouble downloading.
Could you try to download a Jake Simpson song and let me know how you fare??

I don't use Kazaa, It caused problems on my systems. Do you have another source?

Yes, I know for certain that the record companies are engaging in methods to deter users from downloading audio files through major peer to peer networks.

Typically done with new releases, a song may contain any number of anomolies that destroy the integrity of the song from annoying alerts recurring throughout the song to empty data files.

By setting up several upon several dummy accounts with these songs, the record companies intend to frustrate members from sharing their material.

Apart from corporate tampering, I've seen a number of start-up bands attempting to get their music out by renaming their song files to popular hits from better known artists.

I'm getting these same problems... It's pissing me off. It just started up over the course of a few days. I was fine one day, and the next i was screwed.
Also, I'm thinking that the bands may have this chice, because some bands have it, and others don't. And it's used on they hits only. But yeah, thats what i think. ANd can anybody write a patch that will fix this?

As long as it is free, I am not complaining. Even if it takes a few times to find a good copy. All I do is download the new version of Kazaa Lite, and start downloading. The new version actually keeps your identity a secret from the RIAA from what I have heard. I haven't had a problem finding what I want.

does it really? that'd be cool. Does anyone know if there is a kazaa lite version coming out with those abilities? cuz then you get the privacy benefits, plus you lose the adwear.

Been using kazaa lite for a while and just started having problems with the screeching noise in hit songs from the MTV video awards. Songs from the 80's are fine which leads me to believe this is someone or the industry trying to block or stop the file sharing of popular songs. I'd be interested to know how many others are experiencing the same problems

Yeah, I have the same problem with newer songs. Mine actually start to skip. It's wierd. It's always the top 40 bs that does it. Anything else works just fine.

I downloaded Pink's song from Charlies Angels and it kept saying AOL ... something througout the song it was a pain in the butt

When she released American Life they put a fake version of the song online where Madonna just says "what the f*ck do you think you're doing?" over and over again...

This ticked someone off, cause her official webpage was hacked and someone posted all the tracks from that single on the page with a message saying "this is what the f*ck I think I'm doing"

you back in the day, before internet and cd's, it was no problem to have friend make a tape of an entire album or a mix tapes. File sharing is the same thing just done on a larger scale.

Besides by law you are aloowed to have 1 backup copy of the media you have purchased.

A backup copy, yes.
A backup copy for everyone in town, no.

But that's so true. When I was younger I had heaps of albums I wanted on tape, just because I may not have wanted to buy it or had no money too. Usually in a group of friends, if one person got that cd, everyone in the group and the friends of people in that group had it on tape within a week.

Probably because thats a time when the world practically revolved around music: the industry wasn't being hurt by friends sharing music.

When you copy an entire album and share it with 2,000,000,000 people, its a completely different story.

I don't think 2,000,000,000 people have ever downloaded a single album, or even a single song, but I do see your point Mike.

what's hurting the industry is that they're putting out an inferior product than they were just 10 years ago. and that so much of the music is aimed at the 13-15 yr old girl demographic. It's no wonder we don't want to buy it, we don't think it's worth our $20. that's just my take on it though

Even artists who were, previously, the top musicians or singers a few years ago are now releasing (and I think purposely) under-average crap, half of which is just impossible to listen to.

Well, it's not really that bad.... But i think music piracy begun a while before the below average music started being released, so I think that's just the reason why it continues, not why it started... it basically started out as: we could, so we did.

I, personally, have rarely downloaded a CD I haven't bought, either when it's released or later the same week (or, I must admit, had no intention of even listening to in the first place)... But I have downloaded a heap of music that I have found just impossible to get on CDs... (bootlegs or just tracks from discontinued CD's or CD Singles) This is my main reason for downloading music. Should this be construed as being illegal too (I mean downloading songs you've just never been able to buy)?

true, i would have never been able to get all of the hot 97 disses between jay-z and nas w/o kazaa, and it's unfair to fans to not be able to get the stuff they want. On the other hand, if an artist drops ONE good song, on an album that was obviously made for nick jr. i'm not gonna let them run off with my money. i'm gonna download that crap.

However, if you're a downloader, and you hear a song, download the album thinking it may be crap and like it.... who goes out and buys that album? (just a quick poll...)

first off, kazaa lite resurrection is the newest , safest, ad free version.
i had a slew of empty files just now, incidentally , first time i ever dloaded a "mainstream" music file too..
7 songs of fiona apple, were blank..

i quit listening to the radio 13 yrs ago due to the fact i was being " force fed" manufactured bands and music.... so i switched to word of mouth and indie labels...and my taste runs from brasilian jazz , to heavy metal, techno and 60s gogo music, pretty eclectic..
record companies are money grubbing megolamaniacal tyrants..
they overcharge, overhype, tell you what you think you want to hear...
that song u just started to like on 95.5 or whatever, ya , u know the one..gee,. been hearin that a lot?
you should be, sonys < or whatever > is paying that station a considerable sum every time they play it.....

kazaa lite is made by us, for us...
my files are your files , trade, share, do whatever...
i dont think this big money intimidation method will be toio effective, theyre wasting their time..
