Great, you found an actual date somewhere? I just heard that it would be realised, world wide, sometime in 2004. I can't wait. We will be able to meet a lot of new characters that we've been waiting for. Sirius especially. :-)

Don't we get introduced to her in the 3rd book? I can't remember for sure though. It will be interesting to see who get's cast for her part.

Darn, I hope that's not true....I have been waiting for the Cho Chang character for such a long time.

Anyway, its only July 10th now and I have to wait until July 4th 2004???? I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!!!!!! (sorry, lost my head there for a second)

I think Gary Oldman plays Sirius. He should do a pretty good job. The casting in the Harry Potter movies have so far been very good. Everyone from Dumbledore to Harry & Friends to Professor Lockhart have been just as I imagined while reading.

That's why I'm so anxious to see who will play Cho Chang. Hope they don't mess it up with one of the Olsen twins or something.

I would hope that they would NOT bring in one of the Olsen twins. Besides, they are supposed to only bring in British actors, aren't they? Wasn't that something that has been stated from day one?

I'm sure it will be great, but is any of you worried that it will be more and more difficult to squeeze all the important scenes into a 2 1/2 hour movie?

I mean the books are getting longer and longer (which is great for people like us who love to read) but the movies will begin to lose some of its suspense when they can't put in every important aspect.

I know a bunch of people who went to see the previous 2 Harry Potter movies who never read the book. They didn't think it was all that and they asked a bunch of questions about how certain scenes evolved. I told them that had they read the book, they would have understood it completely.

I don't know...what does everyone else think?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: TATUfan5

THAT IS TRUE BUT IT COULD LIKE THOSE MAXTRIX MOVIES
DID U KNOW THAT THE NEWEST MATRIX MOVIES WERE TOO LONG THAT THEY HAD TO MAKE ONE MOVIE TWO SEPERATE MOVIES, THEY COULD DO THAT FUR H.P UNLIKELY THOUGH

IT WILL BE SO HARD FUR THEM TO DO MOVIES FUR THE 4TH BOOK CAUSE ALL THEIR OBSTACLES HOPEFULLY IT WON'T LOOK THAT FAKE!!

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

Well, I think that when it's time to make "Goblet of Fire," they will have to split that in to two movies. There is just NO WAY that they can make that a 2 1/2 hour movie and get even half of the book in it.

I think that you can see the movies without reading the books, but, you won't know everything. Reading the books, any books, allows you to know plots better, characters thoughts, feelings, etc... In a movie, you can only go by the words they say, the actions that are taken, etc... You miss a lot that way. That's why if there is a book out of a movie that I will see, or have seen, I will read it.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: TATUfan5

THAT IS SOO TRUE BUT IF U SEE THE MOVIE FIRST SOME PEOPLE WON'T EVEN TRY TO READ THE BOOKS CAUSE THEY THINK THEY DIDN'T MISS ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!
THEY R SOOOO WRONG!!!!!!!!

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

That's true... but there are people in this life who just don't like to read, period. Like my partner. She is not a book reader, unless it's for study purposes. Then there are people who only like to read and not see tv or movies. It just depends on each persons personality. I know lots of people who like to read and see movies, and people who like one or the other, or neither! It's too bad though... reading is sucj a great adventure.

I agree with you that there aren't books that I feel are as good as HP, because of how much I love the story... but I love to read, and have found many that I enjoy reading over and over, just like HP!

But, I think that we're straying "Off Topic" in this thread. This is for the upcoming third HP movie. I'm guilty of straying as well though.

I can't wait to see them going through the whomping willow, to get the the shreiking shack. That will be an intense scene.

Also... crookshanks going after Ron's rat and all the tension between Hermione and Ron over that.

I know that the Harry Potter movies may never reach the budget of a movie like the Matrix, but I hope that they use more of the budget on characters such as Buckbeak to make them look more real. Instead of some muppet show puppet.

Also, doing a good job in presenting Sirius as he transforms into snuffles is important too.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

I agree with you. I know that the money is there, but we will never see the effects like the Matrix. But I don't want to see a puppet on a string either. I want it to be real. And when Hagrid becomes a professor and starts introducing these magical creatures, I hope that we get the feel just like the kids do of being scared and freaked out by them.

hi im new and by the way i saw on the net that they were looking for a character to play cho so that means that we will be seeing cho in movie 3 i dont know about you guys but i cant wait another two years to see the beautiful cho chang as jk rowling describes her
still dont think she'll be prettier that hermione though

Welcome to the forum Harryhermione, hope you enjoy our rants.

I kinda heard the same thing about the Cho character also. I heard that they were looking at some of the singers and actresses from Taiwan or Hong Kong. Could be just a rumor though, but Cho was one character that I really wanted to see. Her and Rita Skeeter.

JK really didn't go into detail on Cho though in the 3rd book...

You're right HECK, other than saying she was a hot chick and played seeker for Ravenclaw (i think?), there wasn't too much description about her.

But i think she's still important to the story because its a build up for the possible relationship to come in book 4 and the short lived relationship in book 5

I can NOT see Mr Bean playing Voldemort in ANY way. I won't be able to take him seriously at all. I am going to have to do some digging and see what I can find out who will be playing these parts.

OKay, I went to yahoo.com and looked up the movie. This is what I've found as far as who will be playing the characters. There is nothing there about Voldemort. I don't know if he's been cast, or if they are keeping it a secret or what. If you go to yahoo.com and look up "Prisoner of Azkaban", you can click on the movie link, and get this same report that I found. Most of the actors names you're able to click on see who they are. Anyway... here's the cast as of 05/26/03:

Cast:
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter)
Emma Watson (Hermione Granger)
Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley)
Gary Oldman (Sirius Black)
David Thewlis (Professor Remis Lupin)
Peter Best (MacNair)
David Bradley (Argus Filch)
Julie Christie (Madam Rosmerta)
John Cleese (Nick the Nearly Headless Ghost)
Robbie Coltrane (Rubeus Hagrid)
Alfie Enoch (Dean Thomas)
Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy)
Pam Ferris (Aunt Marge)
Dawn French (The Fat Lady)
Michael Gambon (Professor Albus Dumbledore)
Jimmy Gardner (Ernie Prang)
Richard Griffiths (Uncle Dursley)
Joshua Herdman (Gregory Goyle)
Matt Lewis (Neville Longbottom)
Hugh Mitchell (Colin Creevey)
Devon Murray (Seamus)
Katharine Nicholson (Pansy Parkinson)
Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley)
Alan Rickman (Professor Snape)
Fiona Shaw (Aunt Petunia)
Maggie Smith (Prof. Minerva McGonagall)
Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew)
Jim Tavare (Tom, the Leaky Cauldron Innkeeper)
Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley)
Jamie Waylett (Vincent Crabbe)
Paul Whitehouse (Sir Cadogan)

good job once again KJ...

Too bad they didn't release the name of the actor to play Voldemort. I'm sure it is not mr. bean

I can just see it now.....

"Hi Harry, I'm Mr. Bean...um.um I mean Voldemort"

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

Yeah... and we can see him doing all these stupid faces and voices a long with the character. NO... he just doesn't seem like Voldemort to me. But then again... I guess that if he is, there is something that we don't know. I don't think that they would put someone in there that didn't quite fit. I just can't see it at this point though. I really see someone dark and evil. I could have seen the character that plays Lucius Malfoy as Voldemort. He is an awesome actor.

Some other actors that I would like to see in the movie...

Sean Bean - he was in Lord of the Rings He played Boromir. But the role that I will always remember him in was from the movie, Patriot Games, with Harrison Ford. He played a bad guy. He just has this look on his face that brings evil flowing from his pores. I could definately see him as a death eater, at the least.

Jude Law would be good... but he's too young. But, he could play another character. He can look really evil.

According to yesterday's update of Dark Horizons, under the heading "Ocean's Twelve & Trailer News":

Harry Potter 3 teaser to debut in December 5th in front of The Last Samurai

This conflicts with information we reported way back on July 16 that the Leaky Cauldron reported that the Prisoner of Azkaban trailer would premier on November 14 before showings of Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

We're going to continue believing the November 14 date unless we hear otherwise. Stay tuned for further details.

Hi, I'm new! I have read all of the harry potter books including th "Order of the Phoenix" I cant wait for the third movie to come out. I have been waiting for a commercial or something to tell me when the third movie was coming out.

I think that Sirius and Cho Chang will be really cool if they are both inturduced in this film!

Indeed it would grandMASTER, I'm pretty sure it's difficult to have the movie without Sirius, but as for Cho from everything we've heard so far, we're going to have to wait to see her.

I just hope that Gary Oldman lives up to our expectations. Sirius is a cool character. I just don't think Gary is good looking enough to be him.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

I think that Gary Oldman is a GREAT actor... but he isn't what I was expecting for Sirius. I was picturing someone with "Tom Cruise" like looks. Hmmmmm

Reply To this Message

Posted by: gaboman

My brother looks a lot like Tom Cruise, and I've never thought that guy handsome... his teeth are crooked and his nose is ... well, like my brother's

Don't know why I brought this up, but I did.

I imagined Sirius being kind've dark and sinister looking, but a nice guy... So Gary Oldman, to me, is a good choice. Since he always looks spooky to me

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

I picture him being dark too... but still handsome! That's just the "feel" that I got for him, reading the books.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

Right Kris. Gary is a fantastic actor. He just doesn't look as um, well, hot as I pictured Sirius to look. The books describe him as being good looking.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: agent mike

Grant's right, Oldman will deliver, you'll see.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

Oh, of that, I have no doubts. I know that he will give a GREAT preformance... but, he's still not what I picture Sirius to "LOOK" like. That's all we're saying. He's acting ability isn't in question at all.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: agent mike

I can understand that it's nice to cast actors who resemble the mental pictures that we as readers have established, but as long as they turn in a credible performance, I won't be fussy. I don't have a big problem with Daniel Radcliffe, but I can't help thinking that they chose him for his resemblance to Harry rather than any outstanding acting talent. I think casting Oldman shows that the studio has matured in terms of their casting specifications.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

I'm with you there, Mike. You're right... Daniel was picked, I believe, for the resemblance that he had of Harry Potter. His acting is not the best... but, he was NOT an actor before... so I don't get to depressed about that. Sure, there are probably other kids that could have done a better job, but I think that he is learning, and he will improve as time goes by.

I KNOW that Gary Oldman will do a GREAT job as Sirius... and I bet that he will be someone that we come to feel "is" the part. It's just hard to take a character that you've only read about, and you have a picture in your mind, and that isn't who it's going to be. That's all... but, I think that I will be okay with the choice that was made.

Hey, does everyone know that Oliver Wood won't be in this one either? Knowing this, I have no clue how they'll be playing out the Quidditch Scenes. I know there will be Quidditch though, because in a interview way back when with Dan Radcliffe, he said that the Quidditch scenes were better than the other two and fun to work in or something like that. OH well....I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
