alex.... do we really like him?

i dont get what is soooo great about this kid. Granted his voice is ok....but hes not all that great looking. Congrats to him for having lost weight and coming out of his shell....But he has this cocky attitude on him...That he is the best thing that has walked on Fame when there are others with charisma and personality...I feel as if he is just sooo cocky and has a personality of a wet towel...like bah....and when he does the confessionals he needs to bring out more of a personality....I dunno thats just my opinion.... i dont know what all the hype is on him

I don't get the hype either although his first performance, I really digged. But yeah I don't get the thing about his looks and stuff really, since he's ok looking not the "heartthrob" that he claims to being called on the internet. Although admitted, he does look like a standard boy-band product. Although his singing style is a little better, so far mostly r&b but it seems his favorite is jazz according to AlexBoydFan's website.

Well I know I've seen Internet posters call Alex a "heartthrob" (or words to that effect) before on the Internet... I know because I'm one of them, lol... I think he is a goodlooking guy...

And no doubt he has a real nice voice... a very nice smooth laid-back while still entertaining stage presence...

And I also really like his attitude... I don't find him to be cocky at all... he seems like a nice person who sounded very sincere when he said he was just thankful to be on stage and how much he loved performing, and how happy he was that his family was there and that he thanked God for being there... I thought that was very well said...

Compare that to others who used their time to speak to make excuses (however valid they may have been), or those who acted like the praise they received were just expected and didn't seem sincerely flattered by their praise...

I think some of the others were a little too oversure of themselves about how high up in the competition they were in... but Alex seems to take it all in stride...

alex is sexy as hell! he's got a mellow, low-key confidence about him. he is gorgeous!!

It's not a popularity contest, or its not supposed to be. By comparison to most of the others, Alex sucks, plain and simple.

I agree with Reality Voyeur. Alex is really just being humble and being himself. NEM...we have all read plenty about what you think about Alex.

Triple threat-- The 3rd threat is "personality"... so yes it does count for something in this contest...

he comes off really arrogant and i dont think he has the triple threat quality...there are others in the show that blow him out of the water....His looks have nothing to do with him being a triple threat....in this show the 3rd requirement is to that a personality and he doesnt show it all his interjections seem to be pre-rehearsed so is he practicing on a personality??? He is toooo arrogant for me always talking about himself....and what JoJo told him that his co-worker has his picture on her screensaver just boosted his ego further than what it needed to be....you clearly saw that in his facial expressions. He just seems to be FAKE. His voice is not all that great its ok he sounds like just other people that are on the radio....we need someone that could wow everyone and anyone....Alex just is not that kind of performer... Sorry....

No need to apologize, to each their own... I totally don't see what you see in him... I see someone who appears very sincere, down to earth, and modest

I think he's more reacting to all the comments that are being made about his looks than bragging... what is he supposed to say when he's told that somone has his screen saver on their desk? I think he handled it well...

I think your are very talented and a nice looking guy but your song last night was extremely similar to your first solo! Would really like to see a little versatility! Very smooth though! I really liked Alex and thought he was definitely one of the top three last night!

My only comment, as petty as it is, would be to NEVER wear a shirt like he wore again! He has a wonderful body, so it's not that. I just think that maybe the "attitude" that some people might be perceiving is linked to his appearance, including his clothing! It's a little disconcerting when a man has better cleavage than half of the female contestants!

oh my gosh...he's amazing...inside, outside, vocally, and he's a good dancer too!! I commented on his shirt too, but the more I thought about it, the more I asked "so?" Everyone's different...that's what makes us all unique. If he dressed like everyone else, then he wouldn't stand out. I love you Alex, you rock, babe. And you did AWESOME last night. I only voted for ya' 10 times instead of the 15 I promised, 'coz I forgot my phoneline is a teenline and as soon as I dial 1 before any other numbers, this recording comes on saying my call could not be completed. GRRR!! Oh well, it's really cheap to pay for. hehe Anyway, keep on rockin'...you rule...and NEVER lose confidence in yourself...isn't that what you told me? Practice what you preach.

Putting aside the "he's cute, gorgeous, etc. comments, some of you have got to come down to reality.

I don't mean to be cruel, or hard...but a realistic, and HONEST, comparison to the other performers....he comes in near the bottom, OVERALL, in the CRITERIA that is required by this competition.

AND, that is the ONLY way that it should be looked at.

I am not suggesting that he does not have talent, of course he does....but, the only HONEST way to judge him is to compare him, on an OVERALL basis to the ones he is competing against....and he is no where near the top half.

I wouldn't place alex on the bottom few but I wouldn't place him in the top five either. His performance yesterday wasn't all that bad, so I think he deserves credit for that. Although, he doesn't match up to some great performers last night like shannon, moy, serena and harlemm.
i agree he is humble about the comments that have been made on his looks, but the only thing I really don't see the big deal, but then again that's just my opinion.

i would have definatly have placed him in the bottom three....and honestly if he is reading these posts i would not be ashamed of what i have to say.....hes not great hes an ok performer thats not a bad thing. I think he is definatly out of his element in this competition hes getting blown out of the water with each performer....I think he should have been out in the first performance trying to be something he is not with that performance....Hes not that strong vocally and dancing and personality is bad the way he is coming off.....I just think hes not a good performer...And this competition has nothing to do with looks soo his looks is irrelavent.....But if we are going to bring that up hes not all that....his nose is way tooo big for his lil face.....and toooo cocky....thats my opinion

Alex is a very good singer and does deserve recognition for being in the top 5. However, I am tiring of the boy band types, as there are way too many out there already. I do wish him the best, but I am rooting for Harlemm all the way.

Personally, i like alex. he comes across, to me, as sincere. i would like to see him try a different style, but i can understand playing safe. dont play too safe, because i think thats a reason lauren didnt make it last week. i am looking forward to his next performance. he is one of the four that give me "shivers" when i watch. i thourghly enjoyed his performance. i defintly think he should move on this week

What I like about ALex is he's a "romantic rapper". Yes, listen to his 2 songs, they are really rap songs sung to romantic / melodic melodies and words. Contrast this to Justin, who does 'hood rap'. Lets face it guys, hood rap is the message of the streets and white guys cant jump nor sing it!

I watched his dancing, very closely, last week, and as usual, he was GAWD awful. He sin;'t even close to most of the other performers and I cant understand how he stays....but i guess all the little teeny girls vote multiple times for him, on many phones.

It's not talent that is keeping him alive.

How rude are you? I mean, it's one thing to give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, but come on...you were just being rude. I don't see you up there, do I? You should watch "Dance Fever." It premieres July 13th on ABC Family. Now that's some crummy dancing. Watch that and then watch "Fame" and compare...actually...no...there's nothing to compare. "Fame" and EVERYONE on it are MUCH better than the people on "Dance Fever." At least the taping I saw was. Anyway, my point is, you shouldn't be rude until you've walked in their shoes. It's hard work and I give EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM UP THERE credit for doing what they do. I know I could never do that.

cascadingcurls2...Alex is VERY sincere. He's awesome. I luv him to death. His style is jazz and that's his ambition...to be a professional jazz singer. Professional singers have a set style 99% of the time and that is what Alex is doing...so I don't think you'll be seeing him do anything else.

How is offering criticism on anyone being rude? If anyone, you, Alex, or anyone, cant take criticism, and consider it as being rude, then you have a lot to learn abaout life. How old are you, 12?

Alex Boyd has talent, of that there is no question. However, if you judge this competition HONESTLY, which you are not doing, then he is not worthy of winning it, or even being amongst the five finalists.

It takes more than a pretty face, it takes, as they are saying A TRIPLE THREAT. dont play favorites cause someone is cute, vote for talnet, complete talent, then it is fair.

This entire FAME competition is being handled in a poor manner.

A fair way would be to havery phone call that comes in recorded on a computer and allow ONLY ONE VOTE PER PHONE LINE. Then, I am sure, the popularity of Alex Boyd will dwindle to a realistic and honest vote.

I hear you NEM. Alex has talent, there's no doubt about that. If he was standing alone, heck I'd notice him. However, he's with others, and the way I see it, those others are better. It takes more than a pretty face to define talent.

Alex is awesome. i really hate when people (such as you all) begin to voice your opinion on personality. please save yourselves from looking like a moron. have you ever really met alex? have you? nooo, uh i would have to say you didnt. what you see is those 2 minutes on tv where he speaks is what the show makes him look like, if you can judge a whole person on that. your a shallow ****er. I HAPPEN TO KNOW ALEX. not only is he a talented guy that can sing like never b4, he flows with the song, he is amazing to watch..and he is a friggen nice guy, a really nice person. so sweet. it also doesnt hurt how good looking he is too. i told him once that for some reason he reminded me of A JAMES DEAN type, which i think is hot. A lot of my friends were friends or at least knew him growing up. My friend Alex said he was a little weird back then...but he isn't?? He seems like a nice guy - has the looks, voice, charm or maybe I'm just biased. His real name is John Robert Boyd and he didn't look so fat back then as he has described just a little weight. I was driving with some friends and my friend Daron pointed out his house - his parents are so supportive that they had a huge sign telling us to vote for him (my friend also said that he supposedly annoyed the crap out of her in elementary school). I wish him the best of luck! And i always associated him with jazz - the way he was dressed in that suit, his voice, and he sort of reminds me of that new jazz artist that is making it, Peterson Cincotta (whose voice sounds like Harry Connick Jr.'s).

From what i have seen, Alex as a person is realy nice. I like his jazzy style.

I said before that maybe he should branch out. This is what he has to do if he doesnt want to be eliminated. His dancing is good, and it takes a lot of hard work ( i should know, i dance and i wish i could be that good), but it just isnt up to par to the remaining finalists (except Justin ). I would rather see him go, and try to work for a contract in the music business.

I think that this competiiton will give him much-needed exposure. Maybe then he can get into the jazz industry.

But he isnt the classfied "triple-threat" that i think should win. For instance, i cant see him performing musical theather in FAME, the musical.

I hope he gets an album out. If he does that, than i think his stay on FAME will be suscessful. I will be in line to buy it on the first day!
