Should Clay Have One ?

People have been saying that AI was rigged and that there were less people answering the phones to take Clays votes .... Do you think that he should have won ? Do you think the show was rigged ? Will Clay be more popular than Ruben ? All I can say is that I will be the 1st in line to buy Clays CD when it is released ... What do you think ?

yeah, i think clay should have won but thats because i was a clay fan.

it wasn't a matter of people actually answering phones like operators, it was electronic........but the phone lines just couldn't handle anything like the volume of calls they were receiving. it wasn't noticeable during the elimination process until it got to the end. fox/AI knew this and yet they kept bragging about all the votes every show.

i think its ridiculous that they allow people to vote over and over, i think they should add a program that notes your phone number and caps total votes from that number to a maximum allowed number of calls, like 6 or so. when you hear things like the ruben fan who said he set his company powerdialler and got 250,000 votes in for ruben, that just isn't right. wouldn't have been any righter if it had been for clay. the phone voting system doesn't work the way it is now, and for those who plan to watch AI3 just realize your vote really doesn't count.

hard to say who'll be more popular in the long run, i think they're both very capable of having big careers from now til the day they die.

The phones should have been set to accept only one call per phone number and text messaging should have been limited to one vote as well. An honest legitimate vote allows us to vote only once and that is the way it should have been.

They each deserved to win and I would have been happy with either, as I am happy with the current outcome.

UM lets see hell yes CLAY should of won he was the best way better than Ruben. Im not 2 sure of the show being rigged or not but it is possable aye. Of course CLAY will be more popular than Ruben look at the amazon.com ratings CLAY is #1 and well lets see Ruben is like #10 haha Yaya CLAY you rock

Technically he should have won but it seems that coming in 2nd has catapulted him more than winning the title itself ever could. It's almost like people are telling Fox "You're not telling me who the American Idol is! I know who I want!"

Record sales are just the beginning. Rolling Stone cover? Wow! What unbelieveable recognition from such a huge respected magazine. Rolling Stone is known for recognizing future stars and their choice only refelcts what is very obviously the public's choice around the world!

Hey, did I hear right? Did Clay's CD actual beat out Ruben in sales in Birmingham? Ru's hometown?

Hell Yah Clay should of won alright man i wish he did and im sure those phone lines were stuffed up aye other wise Clay would of won im not to sure about it all but i have got 2 say he is THE winner in my heart and in alot of others 2 LOVE YA CLAY

I think not winning has given Clay more attention. Everyone knew, almost from the beginning, that Clay and Ruben were the top 2, so if you can hear clay and hear Ruben, then it's pretty obvious who deserved to win. Clay has an absolutely amazing voice, and pretty much everyone can reconize that. Even people who aren't obsessed with Clay agree with me that he should've won, because his voice is impossible to compare with Ruben's. He is outstanding.

YES HE IS! ppl agree with me too, the ones that aren't already obsessed that is!

I'm not all that sure if the show was rigged, but based on "evidence" that everyone is providing, it kind of seems that way.

I mean. Look at the facts here people. Re-think about all the times you've watched this past "American Idol" season.

- How many MORE times did Clay get a standing ovation from Paula and Randy than Ruben?
- Did you hear Neil Sedaka tell Ruben that he'd kill to produce HIS first CD?
- Did you hear Simon tell Ruben 3 or 4 times " That is one of the best performances I've EVER heard on this show in all 3 seasons?"
- Did Simon ever tell Ruben " That performance could quite possibly win you this competition?"

...and Fox was rather clever saying that Clay only lost by 1,300 votes, because everyone knew how close it was going to be, and if they blocked Clay's line then obviously it sounded busy, making people thing TONS of people were voting. So if the % difference was any higher, people would know it was rigged.

I think people are right when they bring up racial issues. If Clay would have won, people would be saying "Oh, the show was rigged...Clay only won because he's white...blah blah blah "

I support Clay 110% in EVERYthin he does. He's obviously America's Idol ( as well as Canada's ) and he's doing a hell of alot better than Ruben...just goes to show, #2 can hold a pretty poweful card when you deal it right.

OOH, I forgot to add this in also...

If you think about it, the judges hold some pretty big cards. Esp. Simon, whatever Simon said, went. He was the hard-ass and if he actually liked a performance, so did America.
" Oh if Simon, the man who's VERY picky and likes nothing, likes how so n' so sang this song...they must have sang it right, I'll vote for them!"
...Believe me, I was like that too. If someone sang something, and as I sat there thought "ew, that was horrible" and Simon said "brilliant" I'd start thinking "oh...well, yeah...it wasn't all that bad "

Same with fans. No matter WHAT Simon thought of Clay though, fans didn't care. They still gave support. Was Clay ever almost sent home? Nope. Ruben? YUP!

Simon's a very smart man. Yeah, he can give both idols compliments, but by giving his last compliment to Clay saying "that performance could quite possibly win you this competition" he's really saying "Ruben fans, Clay has a decent chance...VOTE" so when all Ruben fans think Clay could win, they're going nuts voting.

Reverse Psychology can do wonders...I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I see between the lines alot.

Yeah, as of right now Clay's pretty much got the entire world in his hands.

ok, since the topic of this thread is "should Clay have Won?" I have to change the subject because i was just thinking........
Clay lost by 130,000 votes, which, out of 24,000,000 is nothing! but even if he had WON by 130,000 votes, i still would have been shocked! I think that it should have been AT LEAST 70% to 30% for Clay. If the tables were turned and Clay had got that 50.2%, i still would have been VERY surprised that it was that close. I think Clay should have won, hands down, period.

yep! those numbers are awefully close! if only we could reverse them....but o well! we love him n*E*wayz!
