I have just viewed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and I must say that it was a very enjoyable movie. I have been hesitant to watch any of the movies because I thought that they may be aimed for the younger crowd. The acting, plot, and screenplay were all superb. I am thinking of checking out the sequel as well now that I have seen the first one. What were you thoughts about the movie??

I thought that both movies did a great job at following the books. Of course, there were many things that weren't in the movies, simply because of time restraints. But, the average person who hasn't read the books would be able to understand a lot.

I like movies... but there is simply no replacement for a good book. You get so much back ground and character thoughts, etc... when you read a book. You can develop a much better understanding of the story a lot easier.

I recommend that you see HP and the Chamber of Secrets as well.

I own both Harry Potter movies on dvd and I love both of them. But I agree with KJPotter that nothing replaces a good book, especially in regards to Harry Potter.

I own all the books as well and I have re-read them over and over again. It is soo well written and there is such a misconception that it is meant for kids. The only thing childish about Harry Potter is that it brings out the child in all of us.

Is that so KJPOTTER. wow i'm impressed. My mother likes the movies alot and she watches them with me. I like adults who try to like young things(even though the books are adult).

yo guyz, take it easy. the movies were NOT good, to be honest it was completely pathetic I was on the edge of ripping body parts of all the happy and optimistic ppl who went" Gosh that movie was like totaly awesome the actors were like SO great", PLEASE I mean crossroads was better how low is that?! can we just go back to the serious and not the 'kids watch my show I'm a big puple dinasour' movies, have you ppl even read the books? get over it no one will get excited about this movie except five year old babies...oh no, do you have something to tell me?

Actually, they movies were pretty good!
And, if you had actually opened your eyes and looked around this forum, you would have seen that we have all read the books.

My opinion doesn't stink, mine is right: Harry Potter is great, the books and the movies thus far have proved exciting and interesting for readers and viewers worldwide

And the multi-millions of dollars made world wide just strengthens my opinion.

Really? That's great, but I doubt I'll hear anything, we don't get E! news here (I think... maybe we do) But I'm sure if they show it and you miss it you'll be able to download the piece soon enough.

I can't wait for this movie, but I guess I've just got to concentrate on waiting for Return Of The King, and then worry about Harry. This is probably my favorite book out of the lot, so I hope they do it right

I watched Great Expectations yesterday, just to see how Alfonso directs... well, I hope PoA's not changed as much as Great Expectations was but otherwise, the direction is pretty darn good

I don't think that it will be changed. JKR is on the set and she has a lot of say about her movies. So, that's a good thing, right?

Oh yeah... Return of the King can't get here soon enough. Speaking of which... Sherry, do you and Ron want to go and see that with Heidi and me?

Grant, if you can make it to San Diego, from Taiwan... you and your wife would also be welcome to join us for the movie. That would be fun... don't you think? Can you imagine the three of us together? Oh boy... our spouses would just look at us and walk away. We would be HP talking alllllll over the place. And talking about our animals too!!!!

My wife is more of an animal lover than me, she's kind've nuts. She wants to take another husky in this week... grrrr

Well, have to see, I guess, since the dogs aren't too easy to take care of. That's why we don't go away too often. We have a free trip we can take this weekend, all expenses paid, and we don't even know if we can go poor us.

Awe... well, take some time, just to be together... that's all that is important. I know... sit on the couch, or in bed, and watch the HP movies. Keeping it on topic!

We watched sorcerer's stone last week on HBO, and a few days later we watched chamber of secrets... I guess I wont watch them again until tomorrow

COOL!!!! Yeah, we can talk on the phone about all of this. It doesn't come out until December. So, we will worry about it closer to that time. Going out on a work night isn't easy on us!!! We tend to go to the movies, a lot, as a first showing of the day on Saturdays. Tends to not be too many people around then. Just how I like it!

Sounds perfect and that is a very easy time to get babysitters.

Oh, and Grant, we have two kids, so we get out maybe once a month. So, we started watching my old Disney VHS for a family night. Sit down people, but I have not watched a Harry Potter movie in over two weeks. Yes, the kids are begging for Harry, so we will see it tomorrow. Oh, Damon says Potter with the Brit accent. Too funny. He also scowls just like Draco when he is mad.

In an interview on October 20, 2003 Daniel Radcliff says that he will film the Goblet of Fire. After that who knows.

Correct... I believe that the only one that has said he will stay for them all is Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). It just won't be the same without the main kids. They are the characters, for the movies, for me.

I actually heard Daniel was leaving after PoA, so I'm glad they convinced him to stay on for atleast one more... hopefully they'll just keep convincing him "oh only one more, oh only one more" and before you know it you've eaten the whole box of chocolate... I mean, he's acted in all the movies... sorry bout that

I don't think anyone else could be Harry. I read the books before I saw the movies, and that is how I pictured Harry to be. I just wish they would muss his hair up a bit.

I actually had to get used to him (when seeing his pictures), but you know by the time the movie came out I was pretty accustomed to seeing his face as being Harry Potter... and right, it'll take a while to get used to anything else

Whatever he's asking, WB, pay him!!! You know you can afford it!
