Bush and Powel claimed the Americans would leave Iraq as soon as there’s a circular democratic society there. Remember? I guess they were cunning at least. The US will NEVER leave Iraq, not in the foreseeable future. And it’s not only about Iraqi oil. Having occupied Iraq, the United States have taken Iran in a ring and this gives Washington an ability for an unprecedented pressure on Tehran. I suppose an overt demonstration of its might by the US has begun. If not then how could one possibly assess patrol of the Iraqi border with Iran by Americans? Under present circumstances one can hardly presume Washington will decide itself for a military operation against Tehran, however, there’re other measures that could be taken by it, and they are not less effective. It’s most likely that embargo will be intensified. Then they’ll be making efforts to change the regime in the country by the means of psychological influence. Iran will be accused of illegal production of nuclear materials, armaments purchase, etc.. In the result Iran will be the US’ next victim, probably a ‘bloodless’ one, but still a victim.

Absolutely, myself and others have pointed out this rather bleak but probable scenario in other threads. I am afraid that because the US can do whatever it pleases, that it will do whatever it pleases.

At this point in history we are hearing the drums of war stirring patriotic frenzy. The voices for peace tend to be drowned out in this symphony of hate .

I just hope and pray that something pulls us back from the brink. I am not sure what could though. This is why my plea goes out to to the American citizens.... unlike past empires they have a degree of control over their Gov.... they could send a clear message to Washington..... " We will not standby idly while this great nation is dragged through the mud.... We will not allow our Gov to persecute the weak and oppress foreign nations.... We demand an end to the bloodshed!" The people of the US enjoy the freedom and power to do this.... if they turn a blind eye to the sufferring of these countries their Gov has proclaimed enemies then they turn their back peace and justice. If the people of the US do not stop the cycle of violence perpetuated by their Gov ... they will only have themselves to blame if the world is plunged into the chaos of World War. I hope they choose peace.
