| Posted by: ELJAYWAY | | lets be perfectly honest, althogh what happened to aaliyah was extremely tragic and awful. aaliyah was not half as famous alive as she is now.
if she were still alive i doubt anyone would talk about her and she would in no way be the icon in which she is today.
No offence intended to any aaliyah fans, but its what i honestly think. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: shortyboogs | | Aaliyah was down with more people than you know.
She blazed the way for young girls to make it big.
She set her own style and others followed.
She relied on her talent to make it big and that's exactly where she was/is/will always be... BIG.
Aaliyah had more on her plate than most cats can handle.
Don't be running up your mouth about her when you don't know ****!

| Posted by: gaboman | | I do have to say, it's true. I loved Aaliyah's music for so long, but popularity always alluded her. After she died, seemed lots of people started knowing who she was and decided they always loved her music. True, she was starting to reach the popularity that she well deserved just before her death, but still... after her death, record sales went sky high and more people mourned her than actually bought her albums before her death. Though the love is well deserved now, anyone who says that Aaliyah would have been just as famous now as she would have been if she were still alive is in some sort of fantasy world. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | I live in Australia and we had only had "try Again" from Romeo Must Die released here when she died, i really liked that song, but (sorry) wasn't too sad to find out she had died coz it was only one song.
I have since heard most of her other music and agree that she was a talented muscian and singer and it is always sad when someone so young dies, but it was YEARS ago now, why is everyone still going on about it.
I noticed Missy Elliot tributed her award at the VMA's to Aaliyah, seriously, guys, get over it already. | | Reply To this Message
