GPS question

So, I'm thinking about getting a GPS as a gift and was wondering if anyone here is an expert. I am considering the TomTom XL-S because I've heard a lot of great things about it, and I like that it comes with Text-to-Speech so you don't have to look down to see the street names. Anyone have any advice??
