She came to Texas A&M for a concert back in 1974. I was with the Singing Cadets at the time and we were helping get her set ready for that night. She asked if anyone here could sing bass. I said I could and she showed me the music she wanted me to sing while she practiced. I told her I knew the music, and she said, "Oh, really?" She started and I picked up right where I was supposed to sing and in a better singing voice than her regular backup. She told me afterwards that if her regular backup didn't show, then I would go onstage with her.

Her backup singer showed five minutes before we were to take the stage. Oh, well...

woohoo for the Singing Cadets!!!! do you actually have to be in the Corps to be a Singing Cadet? Someone told me I should try out but i'm not in the Corps...

The Singing Cadets is an all-male chorus; and, no, you don't have to be in the Corps of Cadets to be in the Singing Cadets. You could try out for the other groups in the Vocal Music Department -- the Women's Chorus, the Century Singers or The Reveliers.
