| The British Broadcasting Company is the longest running channel in british television history. It was the first channel ever to air in the UK.
However they have always been biased in the south. When ever their is a news broudcast for the south it is always Southampton that gets priority over Portsmouth.
When the 200th aniversery of Trafalgar was celebrated in Portsmouth the BBC came under heavy critism for only showing it on the news 24 channel and not giving it prime time showing over programmes such as 'Homes under the Hammer' and 'Cash in the Attic'.
Once again the BBC are ignoring one of the big events of Portsmouth and relegating it to a ten minute clip on the news.
The Great South Run is the biggest marathon on the south coast and is almost as big as the Great North Run. When the London Marathon or the Great North run take place there is live coverage on BBC and an Hour or more is donated to it. However simply because the Great South Run takes place in Portsmouth it is almost completely ignored.
The Great South Run has about 10,000 people in it running for 10 miles. it is as big an event on the south coast as the Great orth run is for the north. Yet is is the least well knows simply due to the BBC refusing to break their long tradition of ignoring Portsmouth.
It is not fair. They do the same for Portsmouth Football Club. Hypothetically Pompey could beat Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in the quick sucession and still they would only get a passing mention on the BBC.
At least ITV and Sky are fair. | |
