Kurtis Stryker is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series.

About Stryker
Stryker was one of the chosen warriors in Mortal Kombat 3, warriors whose souls were protected against the corruption techniques or soul-stealing abilities of Shao Kahn and his minions. Originally a police officer in a large city on the East Coast, he employed his modern weapons, such as bombs, guns, tasers and a nightstick, in battle against Kahn's forces. Stryker is a somewhat stout-looking man with a white-blue shirt, combat boots, gunbelt, black police pants and a backwards cap.

Storyline
Stryker was the leader of the Riot Control Brigade when Shao Kahn's portal opened over New York City. Every single human soul was stolen by Shao Kahn, with the exception of the chosen warriors. Stryker did not understand why he had been spared, until he received a vision from Raiden, instructing him to head west, in order to meet with the other chosen warriors and learn about the importance of his survival. Along with the other warriors, Stryker assisted in liberating Earthrealm from Shao Kahn's clutches. What became of him after that is unknown, however his appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deception's Konquest mode indicates that he may have journeyed to Orderrealm in order to join the Seidan Guardsmen. His appearance in the upcoming release of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, with a complete redesign, including clothing resembling riot gear, will indicate whether or not this is true.

Moves
Baton Trip – Stryker uses his baton to trip the opponent. (MK3, UMK3, MKT)
Baton Throw – Stryker jumps forward and uses his baton to fling the opponent behind him. (MK3, UMK3, MKT)
Grenade Toss – Stryker simply throws some grenades at his opponent. (MK3, UMK3, MKT)
Gun – Stryker pulls out his pistol and pumps lead into his opponent. (UMK3, MKT)

Fatalities
The Taser Shock – Stryker shoots a taser gun at his opponent and proceeds to fry his opponent to death. (MK3, UMK3, MKT)
Bomb Explode – Stryker plants a bomb on his opponent and jumps back. He then plugs his ears with his fingers and his opponent explodes. (MK3, UMK3, MKT)

Other finishers
Crossing Guard – Different variations of this Friendship have been seen. He blows a whistle and signals for everyone to cross. In the arcade version and some of the home platform ports, the combatants would run across the screen (including a clone of himself and one of the opponent). In the SNES and Genesis versions, it would be Kung Lao's dog pulling a red wagon occupied by a baby Sindel. (MK3, UMK3, MKT)
T-Rex – Turns into a tyrannosaurus rex and bites off the opponent's torso. (MK3, UMK3, MKT)

Movie appearance
Stryker is mentioned in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation as having been captured by Rain, though he never appears on-screen.

Trivia
It took Stryker several tries to break into the MK series. A character named "Kurtis Stryker" was to appear in the first Mortal Kombat, but the idea was dropped in the place of a female fighter (Sonya Blade). It also initially was to be Jax's name in Mortal Kombat II.
Stryker makes an appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deception as a prisoner in the "Dark Prison" stage. He is also found in the Orderrealm in Deception's Konquest mode as a guard aspiring to be a Seidan guard.
Stryker was one of Raiden's chosen defenders of the Earthrealm alongside Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Jax, Sonya, Nightwolf, and Kitana in the short-lived USA Network cartoon Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm (1996). He was voiced by actor Ron Perlman.
Stryker did not get access to his gun as a move until the advent of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, when it became a special. The gun greatly increased Stryker's combo abilities, especially where juggling was concerned.
Though Stryker's outfit in MK3 was blue, the original costume used for filming was red. In fact, his character portrait in the player select screen still shows his shirt as being red rather than the default blue color of his costume. The red palette is reserved for his second player incarnation.
Generally, Stryker is not well liked in the MK fan community, his 'real world' special moves and storyline being considered too out of place in the monsters and sorcery feel of the series. However, he is also considered a high tier character because of his potential for high-damage juggle combos, and had gained a strong cult following, because of this.
Stryker is mentioned in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks in one of the game over messages, which says "Who will win? Stryker or Cyrax?"

When Striker first came out he was the lamest. Now he's not so bad. That gun is cheesy but works out really well. Still haven't locked down any really good combos yet though.
