Oh doctor, this one better be dope.

I liked the last one, Deception. Was way better than that turd Deadly Alliance (which I bought for $20 bucks after I was done with Deception and played it once.)

Anyway, there are 60 fighters on this one. The Konquest mode is back. There is also a lame looking kart game. But what's really dope is the create a player and create a fatality mode. Now that's what I am talking about.

I am totally going to buy this game when it comes out, no doubt.

Right off the bat though I know there are some players I will not use. They are totally useless. For starts, there's Mokap and Meat. Frost is just a chick version of Sub Zero. Smoke, Sektor and Cyrax are all to similar.

I read a so-so review that says all the characters are kind of alike. There are two fighting styles per person, the last game four I believe. Still, it looks dope.

Onaga is really huge and a tard. The former bosses usually don't work well as players.

I bet the same ol' go-to players will be dope, but that's still about a dozen kick ass characters.

Shujinko, Darrius, Kira and Kobra were cool from the last game, played them a lot too.

Hells yeah. I kind of want to get that online deal so I can lay the smackdown to people across the world, but the PS3 is coming out next year sometime. It will still be a while before I get it of course, but I might as well wait.

I hear you. I have like three games I've never played. I even buy more and play them first. A few I've played once and shelved. Not that I didn't like them, just spaced. Like the newer GTA. Liked that game. I am weird.

I got Just Cause and Scarface - both are GTA like and highly addictive.

Just Cause especially kicks ass because it's not really that difficult, and you can like ride cars off cliffs and release a parachute, then use a grapling hook to hook onto cars and let them drag you along. Sweet juice.

Oh, not to forget Lego Star Wars II which kicks a similar amount of ass as the original did.

I heard the Lego SW deal was tight.

I will swoop up MK:A today for sure. It's not insanely priced, I can deal with it.

Just hope the create a character feature worth it.

It'll probably just be the same as the feature they had on the Smackdown games before (not sure if they still have it in the newer games). You've got a bunch of options to choose your appearance (probably including species, colour and all that kind of crap), and perhaps you can choose some powers from those of the games characters.

I'll check it out, but I'm not into buying PS2 games anymore, so I'll have to see if there's an Xbox version.

This game is dope, yo.

I heard the Konquest mode was better in this one than Deception. Also there is a cart race game, too. Gimmicky but could be alright.

I have a feeling I will only use a few characters myself. Some of them are just too hard to master and suck anyway.

Every back in the day when there was only like 6 charcters I'd pick Liu Kang

freakin' easy to remember. I forget what his fatality was though.

His normal moves are still the same.

It's the new characters that are all nuts.

But this game you can play just the original guys which is cool.

Some of the newer guys are alright but there are so many lame ones.

I always hate the bigger, chunkier characters. They rarely do anything. They're like impossible to kill when you're fighting them, and impossible to use when you're using them. I'm like 'what the hell?'

Scorpian is always cool though.

Cheeser moves. I remember back in the day playing MK1 kids would do that. Fights would almost break out.

I prefer the Sub-Zero freeze and uppercut, thanks. Oh, in MK2 they gave Sub-Zero this floor ice freeze that would make you slip around. I nearly perfected the freeze, uppercut, floor freeze, uppercut, freeze, repeat move. It was glorious.

I normally was Raiden because he did that thing where he threw himeslf at his opponant and surrounded himself with lightning, I never remember the name of the move. You could do that again and again and beat you opponant easily.

Then again I always was fond of that guy with the metal hat, Kung Lau or something like that. Oh and Kabul

I could never do any of the Fatalities, freindships, animalities or Babalities though. Never worked out how to do that.

I think I will pass on getting the game. I'll just get annoyed with it and annoy the people down stairs by swaring at the TV and the game and the characters and bang on the floor and get wound up generally speaking.

Part of the fun however is to come back after a while, beat the bit you couldn't do and enjoy the feeling of sucess.

What I do like so far is the mid-air combos. There are a lot of them. It really opens the game up. I've yet to scratch that surface.

True, but during a match you can pause it and check the moves list on the screen. It tells you how to do a bunch of combos.

Now that's nice... because it isn't always easy to remember, when you have tons of characters, and different combo's for each one.

the combos are annoying. If you spend all your time trying to do the ones they teach you, you end up dying... I find if you just use a player that just happens to do good combos with the buttons you're used to pressing, it's much better.

Yep, got this game yesterday.

Once again, the Konquest thing is still lame sauce. They need to do a few things: give you the ability to jump and explore the scenery more. More enemies, and less running and picking stuff up. They should just jump out at you. None of this FIGHT! stuff, and then filling the bar up before you can continue. That's just lame.

I do like how many things you can unlock through konquest though. Makes you feel like you're accomplishing something.

I've built my own fellow, called him Gabo, gave him a sword, and just a firebolt, scissor kick, flying kick, and this cool arm break move. I also bought him a shirt.

I finished the game a few times over. The Fury Firey Fellow is pretty easy to kill, if you try hard enough.

Overall, good game, but I still give it the 7 our of 10 that gamespot gave it. Replay won't give you too much more...

I wonder if people could write in to the creators of the game, and give suggestions for future games.

I'm trying not to be too cheeseball while playing the cpu, but I can't help it. If I have them near an arena fataltiy, I'll cheese it and try to knock them in there. Screw it, a win is a win.

This is the games opening intro. It was just a tad too violent for me, but it had some neato frito fighting. I didn't care for the buzzard eating on the dude in the opening sequence.

And who was the dead guy from the grave near the end? Looked like Lui Kang....

Kept popping his neck back into place. I dug the way he was whipping around them chains. In fact all the fights were well done, the choreography.

That was kick ass, Whidden. Thanks for the link. It was like watching a movie. I was ready for more. I've got to get this game. I told Shannon that I really want it... but, I don't know when I will see it in my house. Might be xmas. Oh well.

I thought the same thing... when the dead guy, that kept popping his neck, walked out. That it was Lui Kang.

I went back and read his bio, and it said he got killed, and someone reanimated his corspe and used it to fight with. I'm not sure if his spirit is back in his corspe in Armageddon, or if it is someone else.

Yeah, Liu Kang is a dead zombie queer now. He died two games ago I think. You could play him as a zombie in the last game too.

I was kind of surprised to see Liu Kang dead. Sucks, really, but he looks pretty harsh now.

No, no, when I say queer I don't mean the gay. I mean queer, like strange.

He's a good character to play with. Dope moves, quick, all that. He uses his chains as a weapon which works out nice.

In Deception though his alternate costume was just him not as a zombie.

I believe he died in the events leading up to Deadly Alliance. Up until that he was in every MK ever, ever.

But just about every MK character has died at least once and brought back to life somehow. Liu is still all zombie like though. I bet he's back to normal in the next one though.

Have you made a character yet?

Mine started out looking lame and just gets lamer. I gave him white dreads and a black trenchcoat with short sleeves and a blue goatee. I have no idea what I'm doing. The I choose his special moves, turns out I just totally ripped off Liu Kangs fireball and flying kick. I am pissed. Was messing with it for like an hour.

My guy's just a human with blonde hair, a blue shirt and black jeans. I don't wanna make him look like a freak or nothing.

I got the flying kicks and fireballs too. Plus Sub Zero's freeze and some sort of teleport dealy. None of these moves really go together, but they're all pretty handy in a fight.

I like Johnny Cages kick, you can stretch the screen with it. Too bad you can't use Shang Tsungs fireballs. I'd be spitting some flames if you could.

So I beat it again, but this time Liu Kang was giving me the most trouble. Took like 6 times to beat his zombie ass. A few times he cheaped me into the arena fatality. Up until that point I was using my character. Then I tried a few and ended up stopming him with Scorpion. Wacked Moloch, then it was Blaze. That big lava douche got me twice before I laidith the smackith down with Stryker of all people. His baton weapon deal is spot on. Just like Jax's though. Anyway, I think I am going to increase the difficulty.

So I used the code to unlock Blaze. Didn't want to deal with the Konquest again. He's such a loppy beast. No weapon, no great combos, just cheeseball special moves and big punches. Beat the game with him. Another weak ending.

Also beat it with Raiden. Dude has some great combos. I might try to use him more.

Havn't decided on whether I will go with the PS2, or the new Nintindo Wi.

I was all for Ps2, then I was reading the stats, and it's only about a 300 megahertz processor. What the ?!?!?!?!

My computer is a 2.3 gig.

I understand that the Play Station aint running windows and all the billion other processes, so 300 megahertz is better than it sounds. Still, I want to see what Wi has...

PS2 is about $129 right now. Games are anywhere from $10 - $50.

Nintendo Wii is $250, which isn't bad considering it's a next generation system. Games could be north of $50 though.

Playstation 3 is upward of $400. Pee on that. I will wait. Spent $200 on the PS2 five years ago or so. Perfectly content with that.

I been reading about the PS3, and if you want it to work how it is supposed to work, your looking at over 800 bucks. No way I'm shelling out that kind of dough for that. Blue Ray or not.

I need to reseach the Wi some more and see what the basic setup is, and if it will even be out in early december. They keep pushing back the release date.

Upgrade in memory? I bought a memory card and a controller, each was like $20. It's not too bad. $200 is still a good deal.

There is no way I am spending over $400 on a video game system. I bought my last desktop for $350, brand new. Of course I had a sweet deal but still.

I remember my folks dropping $100 for my original Nintendo was thinking that was a staggering amount.

I really don't need a suped up PS3. I don't play online or anything. Don't need a 40gb hard drive for it. I am fully prepared to ride my PS2 out for a long while.

I'm leaning toward the PS2 now. Put down around 250 for the game, extra controller, memory and Mortal Kombat and be done with it.

Just under $250, about. You should check Ebay for controllers and what not. Could be even cheaper.

The Wii looks cool, next generation system and all. Not a bad price. MK: A won't be out on it until early 2007 though.

But the PS3 is coming out so over the next few years PS2 stuff will start to get phased out, see less and less.

I'd go for xbox, bro. I've got the PS2 and Xbox, and the graphics are so much smoother on the xbox. Don't go for the 360, though. Overheats and gets screwed up on you; if you were gonna spend that much anyway, may as well get the PS3 which'll blow Microsoft away.

Xbox got a hard drive, no need for memory cards. The controller is so comfortable too. I don't know how much they're going for now, though.

I got a flyer for Best Buy and the x box is about 400 dollars.

I have a buddy who sold his PS2 and X-Box, games, controllers and all to get a X-Box 360.

Speaking of MKA though, I realized that Daegon and Taven have to be the best characters there. Cheapest too.

I bought this new controller that lets you program a combo into it and to use it you only have to press one button. Gonna do those hella big fatalities now.

Me and Sandy just played, about 45 minutes. She kicked my ass 60%

I was trying to do combos at first, then got tired of losing, so I gave it my all. Still, I was still getting beat a bunch.


I did really well with Asherah, Kano and Shujinko. I was able to get Kano to shoot the laser eyes, that helped a lot, as Sandy just hammers the hell out of you with brutal relentless non ending attacks...

I got Shujinko to do the old style Lu Kang bycicle kick, which is always fun, and some kind of flying body press, but still can't find the combo to do the rope pull.


Heck! is right about the bigger ones, we played the Goro's and the Molocks and they suck.

I did ok with Fujin, he was o.k.

I did a 3 level fatality on Sandy, which is deadly I think, or killer. Sandy did a one level head decap on me one time. She don't like the fatality's, says they are too gross. So we quit doing those.

Who's SJ playing? Does she have a character that she really likes, or that sticks out to her?

No, we were both choosing different ones each time to see what they were like. She tried all the chicks, then moved on to the dudes.

She got two flawless victorys against me when she was Sektor and I was noob sabot. I kept trying to throw the ninja stars, and she hammered the living tar outta me.


You know, if I hook it up to the vcr, I could record our fights...

I like playing the chick characters, a lot... but, there are some guys that I like kicking ass with too. So, I switch around in my games.

Man, how are all the extras? I wanted to get that one but I cheaped out. Wish I would have. Is the history of fatalities deal cool?

My buddy came over and we played about 3 hours worth. I got a lot better over that span of time. We played every character, cept the 4 that were locked out.


Havik was pretty darn strong. Mavado was tough. I could never beat anyone with Lui Kang.

I did the best with Ashera.

I beat Blaze the first time I fought him, so he can't be that hard. Of course that was a fluke, but it's not the point... he's a big fiery knob <--- that's my point.

I haven't bothered to unlock him yet, to be honest.

I found a website that gives you moves for each fighter in the standard sqaure circle triangle arrow buttons.

I understood what to hit, and got Shujinko to shoot the rope. Sandy June got Frost to shoot the frost puddle, and do the frost slide.

So, needless to say, it's awesome. Later, if I'm bored, I may take screen shots of them and post them all in the cheats thread, or make a new one, but for now, being the lazy cuss I am, I'll just post the link.

yeah, I was real happy. Hearing Shujinko say "Get over here" was awesome.


Thing is, I tried it first on Onaga, which he is so huge, it just shoots the rope and hits him, but it won't drag him over. I thought I was screwing it up. But on the other characters (most of them I guess) he pulls them over, then you can punch them or whatever.

Heck!, I just hooked up online. Real easy, I just put in a ethernet line to my wireless router, and the Game did the rest. Hooked itself up, whole nine yards.

So, whenever you get the new station, or the adapter, we can hook up. I still can't get past the 45% characters on the arcade ladder, so I'm a light weight. It would be like fighting a girl, but I may get some lucky shots in.

I unlocked Meat and Blaze. Meat was disgusting, I can't play him. Blaze was pretty weak. Looks awesome, but he dont' fight good.


I got him to do a lava teleport and this rolling deal, but like Onaga, he is just huge and slow.

Just gonna take me a lot of time. I'm just now getting to where I can hit the sqaure circle triangle x and know where they are at.

I went to that website and got to do some good combos while looking at the website and then trying them on various characters. Finally got the Indian to shoot the arrow.

But...soon as I get the combo, it's forgotten. Gonna take a lot of gameplay for that stuff to sink in. Plus, it's easy to do on practice mode, you get into game play and you have to be fast to do those combo's while you are getting hit.

There are a lot of similar base combos that work on different characters.

From there if you get good with one character you will remember at least one combo and you can move on. Like Darius and Mileena each have a combo where it's square 3 times or something. It's short and sweet. Of course I have Shujinko's 7 hitter quitter on locked because I did it in Deception.

Plus whenever you knock a fool in the air you can jump at them and continue the move by punching and kicking.

After doing Konquest I have a sweet combo with Taven down. By default I have one with Daegon.

So, I'm playing Sandy June last night right, and I rip out her heart and decapitate her, and she gets all high and mighty about how I need to turn the gore off,


then next game, she does some super kick, and it throws me underneath the platform into some spike area, and I'm laying on this spike with all this blood pumping like a geyser from my groin area, and she starts laughing.

Double damn standard if you ask me.

Yeah, I'd have to at least get a separate hosue if it dropped below 50%.

Illuminate beat me a few times actually. But I own her most of the time. Then I laugh... okay maybe not the last part.

I shot her with Nightwolfs arrow a few times, it pissed her off, and she started doing that Frost slide. Over and over.

I couldnt' find a defense. I used block, tried to jump, all kind of things, she just kept sliding under me knocking me down, as soon as I was up, she was sliding again.


I got her back though, I played the evil clown dude, shinnok or something, and did this back step teleport into a wormhole that would knock her down, and I did it over and over till her load meter was down to nothing, then I drop kicked her to the head.

This game is good for the marriage.

I played MKA all last night, that's why I didn't post.


Killed Blaze with Secktor and the double light sabers. Then I went to Conquest mode, got stuck where the fire things are blasting out of the wall, then went to bed.

Also, I had about 30 grand worth of money, spent it all on making a character.

Sandy has no money at all, as I never made a sign in for her, so now we gots to get her some mula so she can create a character.

Can you create two characters? I think you need two different profiles, yeah?

I've been bringing my PS2 with MK over to poker the past few weeks so people have something to do if they lose. One of my buddies erased my character and made a new one based on his girlfriend. I make one comment about the characters boob size and I'm the jerk? Meh.

That teaches me a lesson. Get a second memory card, and use it when people come over. The bastards can't erase my hard earned coin on some chick creation then.





Uh yeah, I just made a second profile for Sandy June. So, I should be able to do the second create a character with her profile.

That sounds about right with the second profile. After all, there are two puzzle looking fools on the screen.

I wasn't too pissed when my guy was erased. He was kind of stupid anyway.

What I like most about the create a character is being able to program you favorite moves. So you can take the best of the best and roll it into one dude.

The only down side is if you play someone who uses all cheap special moves though. Fire ball, spear, ice, fall through the ground, super kick... I try just to use three and be done with it.
