Anyone play slow or fast pitch softball in a league or just for fun?

Well... I do. We're in a Co-Ed Slow Pitch Rookie League. Sounds easy eh? Well, our first game was a blow out and we were on the wrong side of a 24 - 4 ass kicking.

The thing is, we're just out there to have fun. Every good or marginally acceptable play we made the whole team erupted in cheers. We had the beer flowing, everyone played, laughing all the time, it was awesome. You would have thought we won we were having so much fun.

Game 2 is tonight... maybe we can sneak a win.

So far our record is 0 - 2.

Okay, so our last game had super cool news and really not that bad of news.

First, as it turns out the team we played last week ended up having to forfeit because they didn't have enough girls on their team. So we were undefeated going into the next game. Kick ass, right?

The team gets together, a few of us are having a smoke, drinking a beer and hitting in the batting cages. I had called a buddy of mine who plays in the top softball league cruises in and asked him to join our team. So we're looking good. When we hit the field I see our opponents are wearing jersey shirts. First rule about softball, when a team is wearing matching shirts, you might be in trouble. But we played hard. Our defense was ten times better this week. The only thing that hurt us was our batting and pitching. As a result we lost 9-1 but made a lot of strides... and drank a lot of beer. You should have seen our dugout. You're not allowed to drink in the dugout so everyone was just to the side with a beer and a smoke.

So, on to next week now 1-1.

Okay, as it turns out, the first game we played was just a scrimage, so we were 0-1 going into last weeks game. Kind of sucks, we still didn't have a win.

The team we were playing was older but I thought we could take it. Let me say the chicks on our team came to play. They all had hits and as always were the life of the stadium. The ump said our game was the funnest he's ever done in a long time. Anyway, the bats were really hot. I got on base everytime, knocked in a few, yadda yadda. All the dudes were legit, piled on 11 runs- the first time we broke double digits. Of course we had some fielding issues, played the wrong people in the wrong spots and gave up 20 runs. Still, a lot of improvement and as always a bomb time. Also we were reported for drinking beer in the dugout again. What's worse it was a girl who is underage and she was drinking out of a cup she brought from home with beer someone snuck in.

Going into week three we are 0-2.

Okay, I haven't posted in a month. We still haven't won. Had a bye week during Halloween. The week before that we carried the lead into the last inning and gave it up. The week after the bye we were dunked.

Last week we were looking good. Got off to an early lead and were hanging around. They broke away but everyone was on. Then all hell broke loose.

See, our team is full of yelling, cheerleading, happy, funny people. The ump made some questionable calls so some of the guys were giving him the business. Then, with bases loaded and a tie within site, our guy is called out at second for stepping off the bag! So he wigs, starts cussing, the ump refuses to start the game until he's done. 10 minutes go by. It sucked. From there the team was just yelling at the ump, we played angry and lost.

After the game in the traditional beer ceremony I see our kicked out teammate and a few other players starting some crap with the other team. Turns out the GD ump was related to a few people on the other team. Finally security escorted out the dude on our team. The guys from the other team agreed the ump was crap. It was all good at the end, but have you ever heard of someone getting booted from a softball game? Funny stuff.

Only four more weeks or so. No wins.

I think a few guys on the team are going to try and get that ump fired.

Okay, so the Tuesday league is over. We finished 1-6-1. That's right, we actually won and tied. Good times.

So we started a Monday league right away, it actually overlaped with the first league. But this one is a 7/3 league, 7 dudes and 3 skirts. So a lot more of the peeps are in it this time around. The trifecta is out on the field, Heck, Doc and Wiz, so that's cool. In the first game we skunked the other team like 16-5. It was dope. The middle of our lineup is sick.
