Sudan Crisis Must Be Solved by Africans |
| Posted by: malcolm xx | | Black America's dilemma: How can you trust an gov that has lied US into a war and occupation of Iraq; threatens Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Syria and North Korea with military ; ignores and works to humiliate the United Nations; ignored Somalia's civil wars until an Islamist movement was becoming dominent; speaks out boyh sides of mouth when it comes to funding AIDS/HIV research for Blacks; Katrina incompetence...etc.
The suggestiog of Nato troops(or US) entering in and forcing an solution will simply not work. Leadership for resolution of the crisis must come from African Union. Looking at this gov total record, I cannot trust US Troops being deployed to SUDAN. How can any Black person support or trust the Bush administration to help ? I ask them to see Spike Lee's documentary of Katrina before making descion. | | Reply To this Message

So what's the solution?
Can you explain what is being disputed in this conflict and by who?

| Posted by: lodgebo | | In a nutshell the Sudan crisis is basically a dictator style government that is backing Muslim fighters ( Janjaweed I belive) they are hell bent on driving all African out of sudan and making it a Muslim country asa the police and army are normally on the Government side or have been killed the people have no protection and have been pushed to the border where they are stayin in Refugee camps that are being supplied by charities, EU, UN, US and Canada recenbtly howevere the food has been hijacked by the Muslim fighters and the situation has got real bad real quickly and it was a disaster before this we are talking Genocide here.
As for what I would do well unlike Malcolm I would not play the race card the people that should be doing the job are the people best equiped to do the job. Now that means African countires helping oput there is no doubt on that but we alaso need countries that have this kind of experience either a UN pecaekeeping unit, NATO, or an EU RRF unit to go and help the situation as it is cannot stay the same and if that requires changes to hell with color and lets get the real experts in. | | Reply To this Message

Why are the Janjaweed intent on driving Africans out of Sudan?

|
| Posted by: lodgebo | | Well the Janjaweed are Arab or of Arab descent and they are not driving all Africans out of Sudan just the non arabs and non muslims. | | Reply To this Message

So what exactly is confusing you malcolm? |
I don't know what is confusing Malcolm, but this issue is very confusing the way it is reported in the US. They report genocide, but they do not explain who are the perpertators nor their motive. They only demand that somebody do something about the problem.

| Posted by: lodgebo | | Well it's a very confusing situation even those who are charged with coming up with solutions find it all confusing. We know that the main perpatrators are the government as they are supplying, weapons, logistics, medical and info they are also using international political influenece which I will get back to. The Janjaweed is a complex situation you see there are a number of Arab militia in Sudan yet we just label them all Janjaweed it's kind of like labelling all ME terror groups Al Queda.
Anyway back to this political influenece you may know that there is a UN resolution ready to be passed that will send peacekeepers into Sudan however the Sudnaese government has said if that happens the Sudanese will see it as an invasion and an act of war and that complacates the situation. The fact is he does not want UN peacekeepers in not because the AU are doing a good job ( remember it is in his intrests for the AU to fail) but because they are so ill equipped, underpaid, overworked and under manned they only have 7000 troops. The fact is the Janjaweed can match the AU in combat and they do it on a daily basis.
As it stands we may get a Balkans situation going on here where NATO just say to hell with the UN and let's do whats right. Bust in to Sudan, remove the government, arrest or kill the ringleaders, free the refugess, take out the arab fighters and make it a UN priority to rebuild Sudan and install a fair government. Now that won't be easy but it is better than doing nothing we need to show these Janajweed a$$holes that the international community is deadly serious, this has gone on for 3 years and that is 3 years to long, for christs sake in the 21st century we have genocide and world leaders dilly dallying about what to do.
I saw a report yesterday about a camp that contains about 1000 women and girls and they say in the two and a half years that they have been in the camp there have been about 500 rape incidents. The women need to leave the camp to get firewood and the Janajweed wait until they are a safe distance from the camp and rape them. Thats just one camp we have heard stories of Janjawed fighters on open top jeeps driving through camps and letting fly with machine guns and we are letting this happen.
What pissess me off the most abut his is that the UK and France who for historical reasons havce adopted a parent like approcah to these African countries are doing nothing we need Blair or Chirac to get to NATO and demand that action is taken RIGHT NOW. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: EUCLID | | What is it that the Janjaweed want to gain by driving out the Africans? Are they doing this to acquire land or other property, or are they simply doing it for idiological reasons? I have heard news accounts that state that both sides in this conflict are Muslim. If that is the case, I don't see how the conflict can be motivated by a difference in idiology, since there would be no difference.
I understand that the Janjaweed are allied with the Sudan goverment against the Africans, but I have never heard what the motive for the conflict is. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: lodgebo | | Well the whole thing extremly complicated but I belive that the main reasoon is that the people in Darfur are African where as the Janjaweed are Arab or of Arab descent. In the past I belive the local governement in Darfur was seen as pro African anti Arab this of course led to the Arab factions causing an uprising, overthrowing the local government and attacking all governemnt buildings. The goal for the Janajaweed is to drive all the Africans out of Darfur and make it an Arab region that is why most oif the camps are on the fringes of Darfur or on the Sudan border, the people have been forebully pushed that far back. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: EUCLID | | Here is one reason given for the conflict.
http://www.michaelnovak.net/Module/...iew.aspx?id=110
He refers to Islamofacism as a conflict between fascist Islam and liberal Islam. The only other reason that I could find given for the conflict is that the Janjaweed are committing genocide in order to steal the cattle from the Africans. If that were the case, we could settle the whole problem by providing free cattle. It would only be a tiny problem to fix. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: lodgebo | | I could be wrong but I think this guy is referring to the 20 year civil war in Sudan that resulted in 2 million dead Christians and 5 million dead overall in that war the rebel fighters were mainly Muslim fanatcis who were about Sharri law being removed .
As for the cattle well that's the first time I have heard that but if all they want is cattle we could solve that problem in a weer or two we could start a campaign heifers for humanity or something like that. | | Reply To this Message

You are wrong. All of your post are wrong. Where do you get your info? Do you have a home in Sudan? you write as if you do? But know one is allowed to post any facts on Scotland? I hope you can see this hypocracy? But let me try an correct you:
The Janaweed militia come from the same ethnic group and religion as the people they are allegedly killing. Everyone in Darfur is Black, African, Arabic speaking and Muslim. US media accuse Sudanes gov of supporting Janjaweed but doesn't mention Sudan defense minister has condemned them as "bandits" and recently sentenced six Janjaweed to horrible punishment. Why hasn't this been reported? Why don't we hear about the rebel groups Janjaweed are fighting or about any crimes thea they may have committed? Does anyone know that Sudan has huge untapped OIL reserves in Darfur and southern Sudan?

I have yet to hear anything from the U.S. media that explains anything about this conflict. I have heard several news reports that beg for help to stop the genocide, but no indication of why the genocide is taking place. Some news reports make demands that the U.S. fix the problem, and seem to almost accuse Bush of bearing responsibility for the problem because he has not fixed it. That message comes across quite clear in U.S. news media.
So are you saying that the motivation of the Janjaweed is to steal oil revenue?
Is the Sudan goverment incapable of controlling the Janjaweed?
If both sides in the conflict are Isalmic, why do I keep hearing that the Janjaweed want to drive out the Africans, so they can form an Islamic state?

First of all it is no not know. As for posts on Scotland anyone can post things about Scotland here if they want I can't stop them. However when people post total and utter crap about Scotland I will pull them up on it for example Scotland harbourin nukes. If you want to post stuff about Scotlan fine go for it make tharead see if I care but if you are wrong I will take you to school on it and lets be honest Malcolm that is something I have had a lot of parctice on
But let me try an correct you:
This oughta be good .

I know that you idiot I have said that the Africans beinf driven our are mainly but not totally Islamic - just like the Janajweed. But they are NOT from the same Ethnic group the Janajweed are from the Nomadic people in Sudan and many went to Libya in the 80's and 90's and trained in Islamic camps. the Janjaweed like the governemnt want to see Sharri law brought back to the area they want the local authorities destoroyed. Do your self a favour Malcolm look back to the numerous civl wars and disagreements from 56 onwards, look at the positive role Sudan took in the Ethiopian and Chad crisises and look at the rise of this government and thae fall of the last and look at thge growth of the Janjaweed as fighters instead of Nomads do that and you MIGHT get a clearer picture. I have read up on about 60% of this stuff and it still confuses me

Well I can't speqak for the US media but what I can tell you is that the UN does not belive that the government is disarming the Janjaweed that's why they wnat a better force in Darfur. in fact news reports on Monday showed a Sudanese governemnt helicoptor taking injured Janjaweed fighters to hospital while dropping off supplies.
The defence minster condemeed them to please the UN ask yourself what ministry did the Janjaweed get the weapons from?
As for rebel groups in Darfur there were none until the Janjaweed came along unfrotuantly foir the rebel groups that tried to challenge the Janjaweed the majority were wiped out by Sudanese government weapons. Even the AU are struggling to pout these guys down. Chad has condemmed them and the government because of they did ( they almost cuased a war between the 2 countries)
