Hi all,

I’ve been going to a lot of book forums lately, to swap book recommendations & thoughts. Places like Myspace & You Tube are so community based & it’s really nice to find book specific sites with communities, like this. I’ve found more & more renowned places like Penguin, doing blogs (like the one here http://www.thepenguinblog.typepad.com/), forums & even podcasts at & I personally feel this is a great way for books & publishers to embrace the “digital age”.

What are everybody’s thoughts on this? How can we get more people enjoying books when they have the Internet to compete with?

One hombre on this site, Whidden, said something to me that I've always thought was true: I don't remember what that was, but it was something about books being better.

Honestly, the pages smell great, the feel of a book in your hand is fantastic, sliding the corners of the pages through your finger when you turn the page... oh yeah!

You tube I may use as a substitute for TV, but nothing can replace the book.

I know what you mean about YouTube. More & mor I've found myself sitting down with friends to watch the latest something or other on it instead of TV or a film!

Blogs like this Pengion one http://www.thepenguinblog.typepad.com/ aren't really supposed to replace books though, I think they're just the publishers tool of information about upcoming stuff. And at the moment podcasts are just book extracts - more like film trailers - to get people interested. Surely anything to get more people reading is a positive thing?

Yeah, i've found the thread to the first chapter which i found on a blog at http://thesuspensionbridge.blogspot...ble-dreams.html

A like a nice heroine and Miss Temple looks like she fits the bill, how delightfully victorian!

Have been getting back into my fantasy recently, what's everyone else reading?
