Hi everybody,

I am Shlomo from Israel. I built a website which is dedicated to Ariel Sharon. The site contains a detailed account of Sharon's military and political career. I hope you'll find it interesting. Here's the link: http://www.israel-chronicles.org

I would love to hear your comments and opinions about the site and about Ariel Sharon.

Hi Whidden

Thanks for your feedback.

Life in Israel, to sum it in few words, is a mixture of optimism and pessimism. There are times when it seems that some sort of normal life could be led here, but in other times it seems as though our Independence War which began on 1948, and in a way some 50 years earlier, still continues to this day. It means that Israelis still fight for the very right to exist in Israel. Sometimes I think that peace is achievable, but today I fear that the worst is still ahead of us, that a war agains Syria and Iran is imminent. And above all the Palestinian Problem, which seems completely unsolvable.

Can you please explain to me the followings?
1. Where was the state of Israel before the independence war?
2. Who occupied the state of Israel so that a war of independence was needed?

thank you

Archaeological evidence of human settlement in Judea dates back 11,000 years in the case of the city of Jericho, believed to be the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the world. In historic times, the region was inhabited by a number of peoples, most famously the Israelites.

Thank you, Shlomo.

Please ignore Ahmed's questions implying that Israel has no right to exist. He knows not what he says.

Well, there are a lot of us in the United States that support Israel, (including me) though I don't know the exact percentage. I'm curious to what the average Israeli thinks of the States.

It seems to me, they must see us as fickle, sometimes helping, sometimes blocking progress. I'm sure it's complicated, the exact emotions and politics of what Israel thinks of the U.S., but I wouldn't mind hearing what someone who really lives over there thinks about it.

thanks

Welcome to INReview Schlomo.

Whidden is right that there are many of us who support Israel, especially in the Christian community.

Count me in.

Answer for Ahmed who implies that Israel has no right to exist: Archaeological evidence of human settlement in Judea dates back 11,000 years in the case of the city of Jericho, believed to be the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the world. In historic times, the region was inhabited by a number of peoples, most famously the Israelites.

Ahmed, you stay out of it. Israel is staying put. Believing anything else is but a dream from which one will never awaken.

First of all I am not taking your reply as an answer, because it is not. secondly your answer can justify a war waged by the red Indians and get independence form the US, thirdly the question was and is directed to Mr. Shlomo, not to you so let him answer unless he appoint your good self to be his spokesman.
