Well I think it has a lot to do with the history of Scotland, the fact that we fought against England for hundreds of years for the right to survive. It's when you get taught all of this history that realize how important the country was to our ancestors and that kind of brushes off on to you.
Also not wanting to offend anybody but when it comes to god we are only talking about a 50/50 chance that the most important thing in your life really truly exists whereas with your country we are talking about a 100% certainty that what is important does exist.
Another thing is that in Europe we are not as crazy on religion as the Americans. Certainly in this country religion is dying out except for Wicca, Paganism and Buddhism which are growing and that seems to be the case all over Europe so if you were to ask most Europeans they would put their country well ahead of God in the list of important things in life.
Also I have seen first hand what happens when people put god or their version of god ahead of the good of a whole country and believe me it is not pretty in the least.

However Historians will tell you that once the English Monarch was extrememly close to a God. About the time of Henry VIII I believe. | | Reply To this Message

No argument there.

| Posted by: gaboman | | Can't go wrong with the triple berry. At least I think you can't. I've never had one.
For the record, I still can't give an answer for this one, since I'm still not in my country of origin, and I still think the earth's round | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Whidden | | I would choose triple berry pie over country, if I was really really hungry. And I lived in Iran.
I had some in California back in 1999, and it was pretty darn good. It was the highlight of the trip for Sandy, for me it was just aight. | | Reply To this Message
