| I simply cannot believe our president is refusing to add his voice to the sane world in asking Israel and Hezbollah to step back and try to strike some kind of peace. Yes, we all know that the Middle East is littered with peace agreements that have gone awry for one reason or another. But it seems obvious that it's better to have both sides stop firing at each other even if neither side believes the peace can last. Doesn't it buy time to stop the killing even for a little while to let saner heads work on something more lasting? In all Bush's years in the mishandling of affairs in the world, this one is the most boneheaded. I believe this move is going to kill the Republican party in the next election. And I don't particularly care about that, but I think he's done irrepairable damage not only to the parties involved but to his own party and certainly to the rest of the sane world. This man still has two years to go on his term. I hope he doesn't manage to bring down the USA before he's done. | |
