| Israel is one of the luckiest nations on earth.
It has to be.
One of the few nations on earth who enjoy complete impunity from their military invasions, encursions and occupation of foreign countries, Israels people are also part of a higher race, where Israeli human life is worth more than Palestinian life, Lebannese life, Iraqi life, Iranian life and so on.
As John bolton expresses this view in recent times, so too has Israel in their announcement that for every shell fired upon Haifa, ten multistory buildings are to be bombed in Lebanon.
As the western world either defends Israeli actions or stands idly by fumbling and mumbling, the death toll rises, and what a death toll it is. For it follows the same path as every death toll involving Israel and its aggressions. While Israel is portrayed as the victim, a disgusting falsehood, the proportion of civilian dead tends to overwhelmingly show that Israeli victims pale in significance in number to their Lebanese or Palestinian counterparts.
For two captured soldiers whose jobs it is to kill, it is acceptable for hundreds of innocent men women and children to die. Not only is it acceptable but by all accounts it is deemed righteous.
We are all told how war kills innocents and how this is undesirable. How in fact war itself is undesirable, a last act, an act that stands alone with no other possible alternative to take its place.
Yet one sure way to avoid war is not to wage it.
Israel and its American ally tend to wage "multiple theatre" wars these days and the death they inflict on other peoples is deemed to in fact be an act of peace.
What is happening in the middle-east today is truly disgusting.
I simply cannot understand how those who defend Israel do not feel physically sickened by taking such a stance. Inflicting a humanitarian disaster on an innocent population is an undefendable crime, it is not an act of national defence.
Would it have been an acceptable reaction to the IRA campaign in Britain to bomb Irish cities and towns day and night, targeting and destroying civilian infrastructure and killing innocent people?
Consider that the Provisional IRA never, even in its prime, consisted of more than 100 or so volunteers. Could this course of action possibly remove the percieved "need" for the IRA to exist in the first place? Or would the numbers of volunteers rise to meet the anger of the population at the unprovoked attack on their nation and their people?
What a lucky race the Israelis are that they can live in a land that dishes out what it would describe as criminal and genocidal were it dished out upon itself.
And America, whose people reacted in disgust to an arab owned port company setting up shop in their nation, believe that Lebanon should be supportive of Israeli tanks in theirs.
Israel and America are two sides of the one coin whose currency currently enjoys prosperity. However history teaches us that currency values fluctuate. The empire always falls. These two nations have done more than most to precipitate that fall by pursuing campaigns that directly result in the emergence of new enemies against it. The longer Israel and America choose to play blind to the roles THEY play in producing "terrorism", the longer the production goes on.
Hamas used to be one such "terrorist" group, now it is a government.
We are watching the rise of hard-line anti US/Israeli politics on a scale never before witnessed, because it is a popular and viable movement. The murder of innocent Lebanese men, women and children today leaves grieving relatives with just cause to hate the US and Israel and the hypocracy of their mandates. For these mandates create war and political instability. In political instability hate florishes quickly into physical form. Israel repeatedly ensures that their children will be future victims, that their children will create future victims, that they pass this world onto them. They maintain war for their generation to participate and die in.
Every man on the battlefield today was at one time a child. Some of these children now visit lands not their own to inflict war, others have known no other time without it, it pervades their very homes. Who deserves your sympathy more? | |
