Angered at the United States intervention in Iraq and also glad that the war is now a castrophe for the United States, he has gone on a hunger strike to both scare the United States and to make them beg for his help on this war.

From what I've been told in some magazines such as Newsweek Hussein is now writing poetry. I am not sure what he writes about anyway since it doesn't say much about it.
He was angered at his trial and declared that he would one day starve himself.

Well, thats fine with me... let the idiot starve himself to death. The world would be a better place without him.

Saddam's hunger strike only 1 meal

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Saddam Hussein ended a brief hunger strike after missing just one meal in his U.S.-run prison, a U.S. military spokesman said on Friday.

The former Iraqi leader had refused lunch on Thursday in protest after the killing of one of his lawyers by gunmen, but the spokesman said he ate his evening meal.

Former Saddam aides being held in the same prison had refused to eat three meals since Wednesday evening but ended their fast with the ex-president.

"They all took their dinner meal," the spokesman said.

Saddam is on trial for crimes against humanity for his role in the 1982 killing of 148 Shiites in Dujail. His lead counsel, Khalil al-Dulaimi, has blamed pro-government Shiite militias for the murder of his deputy Khamis al-Obeidi on Wednesday.

Hunger strike? I have one word for that. "So what"...or maybe that's two words.

Either way, let him rot. It will save the world the spectacle of this farce trail they're letting Saddam make a circus out of.

His own health is the only thing he has any control over, so he's trying to let the world know he's still a dictator of something. Apparantly he can't even win a war against his appitite.

The world will never be a better place unless crazy Kim Jong-il joins him in starving himself to death. Kim Jong-il is the man that I would love to see in prison or even dead. He does horrible things to his people; even worse than Saddam, and thinks that he can call the shots and everyone would bow down to him.

Just listen to what he says to his bodyguards and "comrades".

Well, since we are talking ABOUT Saddam, it will be a better place. If you want to discuss Kim Jong, whoever, then start a thread. But, Saddam is the focus of THIS thread, and in MY opinion, should he die, I could care less. And the world would be a better place, because he will never again do what he used to do over there, to those people.

Sure, there will always be someone else, who is worse, in whatever way. But, Saddam was a madman... still is... and he should die for all of his heinous crimes.

Saddam was corrupted by power and corrupted by those around him as well. His uncle, a madman indeed, stirred in him hatred for the Jewish peoples of the world and for foreign countries. He simply adored his uncle; loved the man to pieces and became what he is today; a corrupted callous man.

I remember his son, Uday in that planned assassination attempt in 1996. I remember how he looked as he was being supported by hospital workers as he was leaving the hospital after surgery and I thought to myself, so people think Saddam is a madman? Wait until they see his son! He's a psychopath!

At the hospital, Saddam said to his other son, Qusay, "Prepare for the worse to happen for it will."

Saddam had nothing on his son, Uday. Saddam was corrupted by power and became evil, but his son was born evil. There are people that are actually born evil if you believe me.

I could care less about Uday. We're talking about Saddam... and I could care less if he dies. He deserves nothing... absolutely. I don't care if he was born like this, or became this way through whatever reason, or circumstance. I just want the guy to suffer, and die.

Saddam Hussein should stand trial outside Iraq for all the crimes he comiited, so that every government that colluded with him has to at least acknowledge their own responsibility. That's European governments including the UK, Russia, America, etc who all knew about the kind of barbaric treatment he could mete out to his own people and yet continued to support him. If we don't do this then we'll learn nothing. This trial seems to me to be just an attempt to sweep our own responsibility under the carpet, and it will probably work.

Yeah, were was the outrage when it went down and eeeeeeeeeeeverybody knew about it. Oh yeah, we needed Saddam then. Now we need him, it's more of a scapegoat role though.

I say let him go hungry. During Gulf War Pt. 1 I said smoke the dude. Should have done it back then.
