Can someone help me with my console ??

I got a strange problem with my GameCube.

Few games has problems with startup.
It takes few moments to get the console "read" it...
Often the console displays "No Disc", but the disc is there ... So i have to open\close the disc cover few times, until the console "finds" the disc.
When\if the console loads the game, I can
play the game for few moments and that the "error" message arrives ..

This happens to few games only, others are working for 100% !!!

I bringed the games to my friend and on his GameCube they work for 100%!!

Is my console damaged or the discs ??

Could be a problem with your GC's laser (for reading the discs). I say take it in for servicing.

I wouldn't be so sure 'cause this happens
to 3\14 of my games...
many games are working fine, with no problem ...
I think it's a fabric damage.
Because i had Moh:rising sun and it had the same problem.

But on 2nd thuoght on my friends gc it works fine ....

Chances are there's nothing wrong with the discs. if the laser's damaged, it will just be more picky about what it will play and what it wont.

I'll try to check the games on other GC, so
I'll know if they're damaged.

Is a GC laser expencive ??

I there a way of intalling it myself?
I had a Sega Dreamcast, so I'm pretty known in these toys ...

You could try a CD head-cleaning kit first. If it still works, it probably doesn't need to be replaced... its just mucking up.

I checked all the games and the only thing broken here sems to be my laser ..

It's silly but I managed to launch one of the games that were not working

I played it all day long..

I got bored so i turned my gc off

I tried to play it again, but i couldn't, it wasn't working.

I had that happen when my playstation was broken for so long. The fact that it worked got me so excited, so I turned it off after 20 minutes to see if it would come back on.... of course it didn't.

If I'd known that would happen, it'd still be turned on right now.

It was just dirty !!
I tried to clean it with a cleaning set, but it did't work...
So i cleaned it with alcohol nad it works !!!
