Just out of curiosity, let's see which sport has more fans here.

Big burly hairy fat guys running around jumping on eachother and smacking eachother on the butt - football

or

Scrawny fast little guys running around kicking eachother and elbowing peeps in the face - soccer

I remember before I had even heard of soccer , asking my mom why it was called football when they almost never use their feet. She had no idea. Come to think of it , it isnt really much of a ball either.

I propose, to avoid confusion when talking to foreign types , that we start calling it American rules football like the rest of the world, or Arf for short. Either that or something that describes what is happening on the field like ''gimmie the thing or I'll smash your face in''

Football vs. soccer sounds about right.

Or we can call it Tailgating vs. Capri Sun & Oragne slices.

That's a much better one, Heck!

We tailgaters know how to party, don't we?

If the tickets weren't so damn expensive, I would say lets all get together and go to a SD game, this upcoming season. But, I'm NOT paying those prices.

I'll be there for a few games, for sure. Rams vs. Chargers no doubt, probably Browns vs. Chargers with my buddy.

Well, I might have to come and join ya for the tailgating party, and then leave. Maybe Ron and Sherry would be interested too, since they wouldn't go see the game either.

I went for soccer. If my vote went for football, it would've gone for rugby, and not the American version, anyway.

I voted for soccer. I great up watching football every Sunday, and after learning about soccer, I can't stand to watch football. It's hella boring. There is a beauty in soccer: the strategy, the physical ability, the way that it is a universal sport.

I find the beauty in both of those sports. But I'd have to say I like the contact of american football better.

I am going with soccer or fitba as we call it up here plus if I~ back soccer i am in the global majority and just once in my life I want to be part of the "in crowd".

also you get such a variation in soccer you get such a variation from the trickery of Ronaldinhio to the no nonsense defence of Puyol, the vision of Beckhams passes, the speed of Lovenkrands, the passion of Larsson and the grotesque face of Wayne Rooney.

Watch the next time we play Mexico. We always have a lot of contact on those days.

Or an England V Scotland game or a Rangers V Celitc game or a Barcelona V Real Madrid Game or a Boca V River game. In fact most football has a lot of contact and we don't get Kevlar either.

It has to be English Football fopr me, what American's and Aussies call Soccer.

After all I am English I live in Portsmouth and support Portsmouth Football club and to me American Football is just a version of Rugby with padding.

I've heard that comparison so much, and it's really not that accurate of one. I'm sure american football is a derivative of rugby in some way, but they aren't really the same sport anymore.
