Eighteen children

There is this woman that lives on my block that wants to have eighteen children before she turns forty. She is from India and lives in this small house with her nineteen year old daughter and fourteen year old son. I tried to dissuade her, saying that she could not afford eighteen children and that she had enough children but she refuses to hear me out.

She thinks I'm threating her. She comes to my house and says, "Why are you trying to threaten me, what have I done to you?"

I'm like, no no you misunderstood me.

I'm wondering if it is a custom in India to have eighteen children, because if it is then I would understand. She shouldn't have her fourteen year old son trying to find her a man, I just think that is wrong.

I'll volunteer to help her...

It's what happens in India and a lot of other poorer countries. In these ountries the child mortality rate is high as are the odds of having children with disabilities etc. So the more kids you have the more chance of having some healthy children that will look after you when you become old.

Not to mention, more kids = more hands = more work.

Like I said in India it is because child mortality rates are so high 54 in every 1000 might not seem high but the US is 6 and the UK is 5.

As for this women well if she has a job or her husband has a job and they can support the kids whats the problem?

I agree with lodgebo. If they have the means (or even if they don't) in my opinion it's not anyone's place to tell her whether or not to have more children.l I say you should leave the subject alone and let her make her own decisions.

I thought we were just weighing in. I can't tell the woman what to do, nor should you. Neverhteless, that's farrrrrr more children than I'd want in 3 lifetimes.

Here is why I don't think she should have any more children:

1.) She can't afford children because she is poor and doesn't work.
2.) Has a small house. Her house looks very much like shack.
3.) Has too many animals. She has six cats and four dogs.
4.) Is mentally unstable.
5.) Is an alcoholic.
and...
6.) Uses her children to do things for her.

Well those aren't good reasons to have children for sure. And it absolutely isn't the best envioronment. But as honorable as your intentions are, if she is unstable as you say she is, then there really isn't much you can do. The more you try to push her not to have any more kids is the more reason for her to do just what you say not to. Is this woman a friend of yours? If so then it might not be worth losing a friendship over to keep bringing it up. It might be better to let it be and hope she comes to her senses. If you two aren't friends and this is stressing you, in that case maybe it's best if you distance yourself for a while or at least find another subject to talk about. It's sad but true that there isn't anything you can do.
I wish her luck though. I have four kids and I can't imagine adding 14 more to the mix...good god, my uterus would pack it's bags, drop right outta me, and flip me the bird twice if I even thought about having any more. TMI? Well it's true!

When you've got a member on this forum posting his/her delusions about a man showing a child pornography and chainsawed animals, then claims to have found "kitty" porn on your own website's advertisements, then starts a thread asking members to post childhood photos, using the picture of some innocent little girl with big glasses to lure people in, then posts photos of corpses, time and time again, plus spewing countless racist remarks, then posts countless pictures of other people, with different names, claiming to be that person, I just can't figure out why it is that you feel you need to protect this person.

How about the thread where she posted the picture of the Vietnamese girl, claiming to be hazel's sister? Did you not see the title of the picture? It was lifted off the internet. Your board bigot needed a reason to spew yet another racist remark out there, which she did, by lovingly calling her "sister" a chink.

And this latest issue...where she called immigrants and their children filthy. What?

What are you talking about? That episode that I posted about earlier was a coworker of mine showing my daughter photos of child pornography. You have no idea what your talking about when you say I have delusions. Delusions are false beliefs or opinions which does not make any sense in your sentence. If I had delusions, then I would strongly believe that this man was showing my daughter porn but could not prove it or was not true.

I have never made any racist comments about any race on this board? The only close comment that I have made is that Hispanics have many filthy children and it is not a racist comment. I have not said that Hispanics were inferior or stupid; it is the truth. They like to have more children so that they could support themselves and have grown up in larger families as well.
