I have decided that I hate this game, and will throw it away. I purchased it years ago, became frustrated with it, put it on a shelf and forgot about it. I recently got a new computer and tried to give it another go, but it frustrated me into a festering RAGE.
So, I deleted it off the hard drive and put it back in it's case. A soon to be destroyed case.
The problem? Some weirdo over at Blizzard decided to tax the living tar out of you if you try to build units. Building units, or armies is what real time strategy is all about. If you have ever played games like Command and Conquer, Warcraft 2, or the best RTS of all time, Star Craft,
then you know how fun it is, to build up your army dudes, and go out and kick some serious ***. It's the whole point really.
Well, some strategy game fanatics got all hot and bothered, and started complaining about the "rush", and how it's not strategy, it's just building a massive amount of troops, then doing a blitzkreeg.
Unfortunately, the folks over at Blizzard got indoctrinated with this crap and came up with "upkeep", which is a tax on your gold and wood, if you build over so many troops.
In other words, you build too many warriors, and your grunts collect 4 dollars from the gold mine instead of ten dollars each load they carry. This kills your economy, and makes it so you can't build hardly any units. The result they want, is for you to build a few of this kind, a few of that kind, and mount small precision attacks on the enemy, instead of building a real army.
To me it kills the whole game. I gave it another go this time around, but never again. Soon as I get some good force up, here comes the damn tax police and my money drys up.
well I say, it total BOGUS.
This is the first real crappy game from Blizzard, as they did Star Craft and War Craft2, both of which are awesome games. Star Craft might be the best strategy game of all time.
I'm just sick that they ruined War Craft 3 with this politically correct bullcrap. They listened to the wrong people I think.
This game is a few years old, so my rant is out of date, but I had to vent. I'm taking a hammer to the game here soon. Which is sad. The graphics were pretty slick, and the game engine was halfway decent. If not for the TAXATION of your economy for trying to fregin build an army, which is the whole damn point of the game, then it would have been a good deal.
I don't think I would be anymore angry if they taxed me in real life. A Festering RAGE, yes that's what I feel. Anger like this should be saved for revolutions, or political sentiments. Or if someone were to sucker punch you in the face.
The level of anger I have at this game is beyond words. And totally uncalled for.
The deal is, it really should have been an awesome game, but some whacked out cheese eater political reasoning got into the programmers heads, and they tried to make it real time strategy and roll playing at the same time, which is Bogus.
Role playing is cool, but it is it's own genre. You don't need to mix the two. It's just frustrating that something that should have been so awesome, wound up being a royal stink fest.
You see, this is like if you had the best movie francise of all time going, like say, The Harry Potter series, or whatever, and everyone likes it, and everyone is happy, and the movies do well, and things are going great,
and here comes the next movie, and someone decided that Harry makes people angry, so they take away his magic powers, make him a chump, and he spends the movie trying to get his powers back, but never succeeds, and then they try to make some great moral lesson out of the whole deal.
Well, that would suck. The people who watch those movies want to see Potter kick some butt, and cast some spells. They don't want a politically correct half ***ed watered down version of Harry Potter, they want the real thing.
Warcraft 3 aint even close to the real thing, it's Warcraft 2's ugly cousin.
The ugliest of cousins. If Warcraft 3 were a person, it would look like Joan Rivers and sing like William Hung. Warcraft 3 is the she bang she bang of the computer gaming industry.
I put off getting it summer so it wouldn't interfere with my classes.
Note: I had originally worded this sentence "I put getting it off til summer so it wouldn't interfere..." but quickly realized that all the dirty-minded pervs on this forum would interpret that the wrong way, and so decided to reword it.
My brother-in-law is really into it. He's some kind of operator at one of the worlds / servers, based in Singapore or somewhere. His character's basically unbeatable, so he just runs around killing people and shouting "take that noooob!" all day long. I wish he'd find a freakin' job already.
It's TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION man. People went to war over this stuff. We had a damn tea party for crying out loud.
Dude, my peon guy goes to the gold mine, he collects 10 bucks worth of gold, he returns to the Castle, and I get credit for 4 bucks worth of Gold.
Where did the 6 dollars go? Roads? Housing for the poor? Defense, welfare, social security, medicare, toll roads?
No. It goes nowhere. They taxed it, and it simply goes away into thin air. Those no good bastards at Blizzard don't even spend it, it's computer generated Gold. I hate this game, I'm never playing it again, EVAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
I tried to play Warcraft 3 on my new computer now but I can't. It loads fine and I can "play" it but when I try to scroll across the screen with my mouse (say to select a new spot to run troops to) it flys by sooooo damn fast and I always loose my spot and I end up at the end of the map.
Anyone know how to fix this.
I love the game and I would like to play it again but this is horrible.
I un installed it in a fit of RAGE, but there should be something in the options that says "mouse sensitivity". Most games will have that. You can adjust it up or down, and it will slow or speed up how fast the screen will move when you move the mouse.
