Liked Elliott's rendition, but is not a fan of the song.

Kat went a bit overboard, but she pulled it off

Taylor- great song, good for his voice. Was sitting next to Rod Stewart, was wataching on tv with Rod, Rod applauded & said "you did great"

I missed Elliott's comments, but caught that the song stayed in the same tone and vibe too much.

Kat's over the rainbow "one of the Idol moments".
Liked how she sat on the stage like Judy Garland, liked the way she sang the verse of it. A "beautiful moment".

Taylor- You are so Beautiful, he thought DITD was better, didn't work for him, had an angry face, but showed what a great voice he had.

Elliott's last song- great voice, needed to pick a song that is known.

Kat- "she had a right to steal the evening after over the rainbow, and she threw it away with this song."

Tay- perfect song, felt like a blues bro presentation to him, but perfect for him. Showed him off well.

Elliott was the best singer of the night- per Nigel
Suggests that probably Taylor will be there for the final night.

Over 50 Million calls last night. A record for a non- final.

This evening show- 3 songs from the Album will be heard, and then someone will go home.

I will have to disagree with the above.

The thing about Elliot is that he just isn't getting better. He isn't growing. It's like watching one of those animatronic robots and Chuck-e-cheese. He was a little bit better with the vibrato but still had too much.

Katharine I will have to somewhat agree, Over the Rainbow was fantastic the others were okay.

Taylor I'm a big fan he IS the next American Idol. (sorry Bruce)

I don't think any of them did well with Clive's songs, probably not the right picks for these guys unless they were able to work more on the songs.

The judges picked well which.

I'm fairly confident that Elliott is the one going home tonight.

AOL reports are flying that Kat is going home. I don't know if I believe it or not.

Thanks for the update, AIdiva. Will be interesting to see who actually does go home tonight.

They're spending a lot of time on the recap tonight.

What's the deal with an hour show tonight? AN hour?? What are they going to do?

Ryan just said something about a special presentation? Wonder what it is.

Lots of commercials as I predicted. Food commercials are big this time of evening.

ace & kellie are in the audience, kellie cut her hair!!!, the top 10 will be in town, preparing for the finale!!!

Tonight should be the "home comings" of the contestants... but, I still haven't received confirmation of this yet.

And we're back. Simon is looking smug. He must approve of the outcome. Last week they hardly showed him at all and he was surly.

A surprise. X men stars went backstage to meet the Idols. What a surprise. People plugging a movie want airtime. I'm shocked.

Taylor had ribs and pancakes for breakfast when he went back home.

Taylor back home. On the radio. Going to the TV station and doing the weather forecast. Lots of people wanting to hug him and shake his hand. Fans going wild. 'Soul Patrol rides on' is a quote from Taylor. Big crowds - well that's no surprise is it. A parade in his honour. Cheer leaders chanting 'soul patrol'. Key to the city of Birmingham.

Big limo. Taylor looks tired. Jet lag maybe. Or just overwhelmed by the amount of stuff he has to do and places to go. Singing at a shopping mall. Still dancing, even if he is tired.

Taylor goes to see the Governor [who apparently answers his own door but I have trouble believing this.] Soul Patrol outside the mansion. May 16 is Taylor Hicks day. Taylor signing autographs.

And Taylor is going to sing again.

He's singing. Kat and Elliott dancing. He's hugging Kat. Now hugging Elliott. 'You tellin' me the things you gonna do for me..'

Taylor is looking full of energy tonight, but not quite as energized as last night. This has to take its toll on all of them, doesn't it? What a pace to keep up.

Going to show Kat's home visit. Home to Hollyood. Just over the hill.

Sherman Oaks, CA. She went to Good Day LA. On Fox 11 Good Day LA. Then to the radio station. KROQ.

Not quite the home town style of Taylor's clip.

Then a helicopter ride to do traffic report. Hollywood sign. Notre Dame High School welcomes her back. Loud pep rally there. 12 year old with a sign 'Will You Marry Me?'

Going to her parents' house. Lots of people there. Her dog too. A black lab it looks like. Lots of relatives and her god daughter who is a cute baby. Nice house.

Kat is not wearing my favourite outfit tonight. Empire waist [which Stacy and Clinton pronouce OM-peer].

Kat is singing 'Think'

She's bopping around. Taking her shoes off. Bare foot into the audience. Nice high note. Great fitting jeans. SHe's up and down on the catwalk.

Kat vamping it up for Randy, leaning over the table...don't get too close there Kat, Paula has some tender bits resting on that table!

And here's Elliott's homecoming. Gavin DeGraw in the audience.

Ryan says 'what up buddy'....Ryan can be so lame.

Elliott saying he was touched by his homecoming and the reception. Felt like a king. Hope he continues to reign.

Elliott on the TV. Where is home? Lots of people waiting to see him, cheering. Oh, it's Virginia.

Crowds of people at a shopping mall.Elliott signing autographs. Big police escort. Elliott has a CROWD. They are all chanting for him. He's singing on an outdoor stage.

Elliott gets a parade and he throws out first pitch at a ball game. Wow, he's got some home town SUPPORT.

Elliott in a Braves shirt. Waving his hat. Looks like he had a GREAT time. Good for you Elliott. You deserve it.

Elliott loves his mom. Gotta love that boy.

Going back over the previous contestants and winners and what they've done in the industry. Showing Carrie and Jesus Take the Wheel. Bo Bice. Clay. Clive Davis.

Clive Davis is back on tonight for this. Paula standing up to clap for him.

Paula in a cute little yellow dress. Very 50s.

Clive talking about Kelly Clarkson. Says her current album has sold over 10 million units. Even in some countries that haven't shown AI. Kelly has won two Grammies.

Ruben had a number on R&B hit. Clay's hit "Invisible". Fantasia's album over 2 million units and 4 Grammy nominations. Bo Bice well on his way to platinum with 'The Real Thing'. And Carrie Underwood has had a giant country album with Jesus Take the Wheel.

Clive thanking them for a plaque they gave him.

Results are after the break...well, of course.

At least I can watch Lost, without having to worry about AI tonight.

Oh commercials for Over the Hedge. I don't care if it is a kid's show. I want to see that. Looks cute.

Well, it's as I suspected... a Kat/Taylor finale.

Elliott is choked up, but being very brave. Saying I am truly blessed. Lots of applause from the audience. His mom is there looking proud.

Well, Simon called it.

They're not playing 'Bad Day'...yet, anyway.

Good, that's in bad taste. Nice clips of Elliott's journey. Elliott blinking back tears.

Poor Elliott. It is hard to believe that Kat is still there, and he is going home. I could have lived with Elliott being the Idol, but NEVER McCheesy.

Shoot, there goes Bad Day. I hate that song.

Well, I'll miss Elliott. He's a wonderful man and deserves good things.

Now I just have to wonder WHERE all of those votes, that went to Elliott, will go next week. Will it be split, or give Kat, or Taylor, a real edge?

On the AI boards, the Etrain is pretty solid behind Taylor. Most of the E fans had Taylor as their #2. I think they will vote for Taylor and do it because they like Taylor and because they want Kat gone.

Well, that's just those that post. We won't truly know. I mean, they said that 50 million votes came in, and they were split about equally. So, who knows. I mean, 17 million people, about that, who voted for Elliott, aren't all going to vote for Tay. But, I bet a lot will. Then again, a lot will be like other fans... where you just stop voting when it's someone that you don't care about.

The thing is that a lot of fans really hate Kat. They will vote for Taylor to make sure she is not the idol.

Yeah, but there are a lot of people out there that don't like Taylor as well. So, it could be a close call, Sherry. Who knows.

I think it will be close, and unless the producers use their option of overriding the votes and chosing the idol, check out the small print on the screen at the end of the show, then Taylor will be the Idol.

What small print? What does it say?

It has been there since the first shows. It says that the producers have the right to override the final vote if they do not agree with it. It is small print, but if there is someone who they really don't want to win, they can pick the idol.

I will work on trying to find the exact wording. I read it the first time in season two just before the last show. I was shocked. Either way, I get to see Taylor in the final. I can't stand Kat, and I think that E should have been there, but Taylor will do just fine.

Well, well, well... I bet ANYTHING that is why Ruben won in season two. They thought that they could market him better, and make better sales. Boy, weren't they ever WRONG!

Though, do they have to announce that they are overriding it, or can they just do it, and annouce the "winner" and let people THINK that the person won, fair and square?

I also think that is how Ruben won. They do not have to announce it. It is a sly thing in the small print.

Still, Taylor will be heard even if McCheesy wins. He will do just fine.

I didn't even know that they did this! It's deceitful. Plain and simple. PERIOD.


So basically, they are saying... no matter what, we don't trust the American voter, and we will make the American Idol who WE want... which is what I've ALWAYS said that they have done.

I heard Katharine barely had a turnout during her welcome home special. It got to a point in which Ryan had to make some kind of excuse for her, and she was given a helicopter ride just to kill the time.

But for me, I could really care less who wins this season. My heart's just not into this year. Only people I had remotely liked were Lisa Tucker, Paris Bennett, and Chris Daughtry, but still didn't care about them enough to even pick up the phone to vote.

According to this dude who hosts an AI show on Fox Reality network said that Elliott was beating Katherine until the west coast votes came in and put Katherine into the finals. Can't forget she's an LA girl...

Well, from the get go on dialidol.com, Elliott never had the lead. But, that's only part of the votes.

Dial Idol can not predict what the text votes are. The winner will have a huge texting fan base behind them.

Right.... but, they still have had a damn good idea, every single week.


And, they showed the percentage on their site, and it was damn close, in a spread, for those three. So, I would say it's fairly accurate.

He's not that good. I expect the west coast can spot real talent.

He's not that good... but, he is entertaining!

I won't even give him entertaining. He was more like a robot up there on stage. At least Taylor moved around a lot and got out there and tried to interact with the audience. I'll admit though he was getting better but It was too little too late.

Well that gimmick will be your next American Idol. He may even outsell Clay and Ruben combined. He's got that WOW factor. He's very entertaining. The next Elvis.

Taylor Hicks is NOT the next Elvis.

People compare Taylor to Elvis because he is unconventional and has touched so many people. Did Kat or Elliott have fans drive and fly from all over the country to see them at their homecoming? I'd say not. You all man not like Taylor, and that is fine, but he has given so many of us a sense of joy. He has touched our souls, and he is here to stay.

He didnt find the cure for some disease or something.

No offense...but arent you going just a little bit overboard about that?

Im mean really now.....thats just being a tad bit dramatic.

He's just a guy. Sure, he has a huge fan base... but he's not Elvis.

Now, if he gets the fan base, like Elvis, and starts making tons of movies, and lives down in history, years, and years, and years, after his death, I MIGHT consider that he should be compared to Elvis.

Just because he had a ton of people show up in his hometown, and the others didn't have that turn out... well, it still doesn't mean that he's "Better." Just more popular.


As for saying that he's touched your soul... I can understand, Sherry.

Mystic... you don't have to cure a disease, or save a life, or something. MUSIC is the one thing that we have, internationally, that can reach through in to our souls, and touch us. It's not being overboard by saying that. Chris touched my soul, with his music... his voice. Evanescence did that to me as well... reached deep into me, and helped me, through my darkest time. So, yes.... you can have your soul touched from an artist.

I said he could be the NEXT Elvis. not that he is. Even Elvis started out as a nobody.

You know Taylor sings in the style of many greats including Elvis, Joe Cocker (who is on XM right now), The Boss and many more. People love the that soulfull singing. I see the next mega star in Taylor.

Hey mysty - aren't you being a just a wee bit nitpicky with Fuscia's comment? I mean, if she said her soul has been touched by Taylor - that's her call to make and she's really given us no reason to believe otherwise. What's the point of debating that? But anyway ...

Well Marc, I think that we're going to see Taylor win. He just seems it have a HUGE fan base. But truly, either could win.

And I will enjoy the party too, since YOU, my best friend, will be there!

Most people... even though they want Kat to win, say that it will be Taylor.
