Okay, open to discuss tonight's show, and who you think should be going home after performing.

There's four more shows and only three finalists remain! Tonight, they'll sing a song of their choice, a song chosen by the judges and a song chosen by legendary music producer, Clive Davis. Don't miss a note, starting tonight at 8/7c!

MP3's are just coming up on Rickey.org for us West Coat people.

OMG Elliott sucked on Open Arms. I am a big Journey fan. It was the worst cover of it I have ever heard. I like Elliott, but bleck!

Kat did a good job on
"I Believe I can Fly". She oversang a tad at the end, but overall very nice.

Taylor "Dancing in the Dark". How huge is it that the Boss cleared it for him? BS hates Idol. He did a great job. His voice sounds a bit hoarse to me, but he sang his butt off on Friday.

I can't wait to see the show! SP says that taylor was crying when he sang "you are so beautiful". It is the song many have waited all season to hear.

video available on www. graycharles.com

edited in AGAIN OMG it was amazing. He was fighting tears the whole time. Oh lawdy I need some ice. and a tissue

Man, I didn't want to hear that Elliott sucked on Open Arms. And I'm SURE that Randy tore him apart.

The judges were actually nice to them all, but I was so disappointed by the MP3. You know I love Journey, and I personally hated what he did to it.

Taylor's Try A Little Tenderness was amazing. What a way to end the show!

I cried when I heard Taylor sing "You Are so Beautiful". IT was completely raw with emotion. It was incredible.

My prediction: Elliott goes home. Still better contract wise to be 3rd than 2nd

No matter what, Elliott better get signed up somewhere.

He will Kris. There is no doubt about it. I think nerves got to E tonight.

Well, I will watch tonight... but, I'm NOT excited.

I will watch the finale, and be excited for you... because I think that Tay will win it all.

Taylor does that to me and to the Soul Patrol. He gives it his heart and soul every week, and when he is on, he is on. It lifts something inside your soul.

For me, it was all about Chris. He never, ever, once compromised himself. Each and every single week, he made the song fit him... he didn't try to fit it. That's something quite rare on AI. They always conform, to be what America wants... or what AI tells them to be.

Just starting out... an hour into the first round of calls, and dial idol shows a very close margin, with Tay in the number one spot, followed by Kat, and then Elliott.

And you're right, Sher... not impressed with Open Arms. I think that it was the wrong song to have him perform.

It's been three hours since the east coast saw AI. So, they have had their two hours of calls... and it's one hour into the next time zone's calls.

Here is what www.dialidol.com is currently showing:

1 Taylor Hicks 70.313
2-3 Katharine McPhee 64.275
2-3 Elliott Yamin 63.925

I actually thought that Elliott did a good job on "Open Arms". I didn't think Kat or Taylor sounded that good on their first songs. Kat seemed out of tune through quite a bit of "I Believe I Can Fly" and Taylor seemed to yell all the way through "Dancing in the Dark". Maybe that's just me! I am watching on DVR so that's all I've seen so far, will save my vote until I've seen all 3 songs from all 3 contestants.

Watching, I can't help but think that Chris belongs on that stage, though! Kat should be thanking her lucky stars right now!

Did anyone ever hear any more about the comment that was made last week about Kat's Dad being an executive on Fox? I can't believe they would have let her compete if that's the case but something's got to give.

Come on... Kat had the backup singers singing more than she did. Totally inappropriate.

Haven't heard anything about her dad, and where he works.

So true! Chris should be in the finale next week! I would have loved to see a Chris/Mandisa final. That would have done it for me...two totally different yet very talented singers!

I'm afraid that Elliott may have screwed up by picking for his last song something unfamiliar to much of the AI audience. He did an incredible job of it, though!

Okay... Kat was given more time to sing her second song... about 1 min longer than Elliott. My friend just called me, ticked off like you wouldn't believe.

Katharine really sucked on that last song. Note to Kat: You can't sing a song called "I Ain't Got Nothing But the Blues" with a goofy smile plastered across your face! It just didn't do anything at all for me! Sorry

I also got the feeling that she was borrowing a move from Fantasia by singing the entire song while sitting on the stage.

Yes, it was like Fantasia... but, WHY did she get extra time?

They gave her extra time because they're really trying to push her at this point. They obviously want a Taylor/Katharine final.

Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with Taylor's "Try a Little Tenderness". I always laugh at the Soul Patrol thing because he doesn't seem very soulful at all to me. It just doesn't come across as sincere to me for some reason. That performance just didn't seem to project a lot of soul to me. I enjoyed "You Are So Beautiful" (I love that song!) but I still didn't feel the soul that everyone else seems to feel coming from him! In fact he looked a little freaked out the way he kept looking around while he was singing.

I guess we won't know what's going to happen until tomorrow!

I've put that in my review, which I type during the show. I'm sick to death of Taylor doing shout outs for the SP. I mean, REALLY sick of it. We all know that you have the SP, and they know that you know it. You don't hear the other contestants, week after week, making shout outs. Sorry, but I've never liked plugging, from anyone. It's cheap.

Both east, and central time, have had their two hours. Here's where dialidol.com is now:

2-3 Katharine McPhee 45.304
2-3 Elliott Yamin 44.817

Here's the ending from my review:

I liked Elliott and Katharine about equal tonight. Don't know who will be going home tomorrow night... yet, because I need to think about it. But, I think that it will be one of those two, and Taylor will be safe, once again. Who cares though... right? Chris isn't in the competition, and I just don't care, at all.

Well...

After what you all have been saying, I guess I glad I didnt watch.

Im not surprised that kat smiled the whole time during a sad song...its become a common thing for her to do...and yes, its still annoying!

Taylor shouting SP? Shocker! Another trite move by him as well. That was and still is getting old...OLD!

Im with Kris...without Chris, there was no point in watching. I banned it to make a statement. It may not have affected the ratings, but I made my point, if only to myself.

And that's totally cool, mystic. I still wanted to see it... but, I could have totally lived without it. I guess that maybe I will be happy, next season, if there is someone, with some talent, that I like, that goes far. But, for now, it's a show that has three people on it that I don't care about, to tell you the truth.

I hope it's Katharine going home tomorrow! I know how you feel about Chris. I felt pretty much the same way when Latoya London was booted from season 3 WAAAAAAY too soon!

I did like Chris also but I think not quite as much as you.

I don't know if I'm going to let them suck me into another season of this. Next year I may watch the auditions and then bow out. (I think I say that every year, though.)

Well, off to bed!

You know, this is going to be the first season, since it started, where I have NO interest in who wins. Season one, I wanted Kelly to win. Season two, I wanted Clay to win. Season three I wanted Diana to win. Season four, I wanted Carrie to win. Season five... who cares?! Chris is gone. So, it's just a show, and nothing more. I don't have the passion for it, since he left. Maybe next season will be different.

Well, you picked 2 out of 4...you have to feel pretty good about that. I am 2 of 4 also. Season 1 I wanted Tamyra Gray - Season 2 Ruben - Season 3 Fantasia and Season 4 I was for Vonzell Solomon.

I really am going to bed now! Good Night!

Oh, I'm talking about people that I liked. I actually picked, from their auditions:

Season one - Kelly
Season two - Josh Gracin
Season three - Amy Adams
Season four - Carrie

We almost matched.

I wanted Kelly (and I liked Tamara Gray), Clay, Diana, Bo, and Chris.

As great as I thought Bo was....and as mad as I was that he didnt win, this year was 100 times worse....Chris was even more talented than Bo (and for me to say that, says something! )

Funny thing....we arent the only ones to think this. I cant even count the people that I know who feel the same way.

Without Chris, the show means nothing. Who is left? The gal that smiles during ballads, and forgets the words; the boy who America cant seem to jive with, even though he has talent; or the wedding singer?

Tough decision.

For me, Id rather see Elliot take it all....at least for me he is the only one left who can belt out a song with some meaning and feeling, and sing it good. (just my opinion folks).

Right, and you're totally entitled to your opinion!!!

I like the three remaining contestants... but, I'm not crazy about them.
I wasn't even THIS crazy about Kelly Clarkson... though, pretty damn close. And since she's put out her second album, it's definately safe to assume that she's about #1 for me. But, Chris just takes the cake. The guy has pipes, and he makes me mushy. What can I say.

Damn, talk about close... here's the dialidol results, after all the calls:

1-2 Taylor Hicks 31.638
1-3 Katharine McPhee 28.759
2-3 Elliott Yamin 28.286

I don't even care WHO leaves tonight. But, I think that it will be Elliott, simply because I think that's what AI wants. They want a Taylor/Kat finale.

I never bothered to vote last night. I was going to vote, for Elliott, to help him out, but I realized that I just don't care. It no longer matters to me WHO wins. So, I never picked up the phone.

[morning edit]

Okay, after listening to the replay mp3’s this morning, I have to say that Kat was actually very good on, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” It was a beautiful performance, and though she sounded sharp a couple times, it was one of her better vocals this season. (Amazing what happens when you listen to it, again, without looking at them, etc…)

My prediction: Elliott goes home tonight, and there is a Taylor/Kat finale.

My prediction: Elliott will go home because he was not superior to Taylor/Kat's performances ... and he needed to be superior to stay on.

That said, when at his best - Elliott is more talented than anyone else on the show this season.

Elliott will get a deal out of this... and he will be better than we've ever heard him.
