I'm going to come out and say it. It was so painful. Godfather III. I loved the Godfather, and I have watched the first two at least 30 times, but three was horrid. Two words: Sophia Copola.

Planet of the apes , all of them. The sheer magnitude of sequels warrants the #1 spot

I never saw any of the "Ape" sequels. To be honest, I've always wanted to...

Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Just plain awful.

I have to agree 100%. I saw the Godfather Trilogy last weekend on cable. I had seen one and two before, and they were so awesome, it's beyond words. Everyone I knew who saw 3 said it was terrible, but I plowed ahead anyway, I wanted to see what happened.

I had seen a brief part of 3 one time, about 10 minutes of it and got bored, but I decided to give the whole movie a chance. And what a turd it was. I'm very unhappy I watched it. I wish I still had the image of Mike C. sitting in that chair at the end of Godfather 2, after having his brother whacked, sitting there smoking that cigarette in those 50's clothes, looking all cool.

Before I get into why it sucked, let me mention the Sopiah Copala thing. I'm watching this movie, and I'm thinking, this girl can't act. She aint pretty, she is ruining this movie. I didn't know who she was, I thought she must be some real life mafia woman from Italy. Then I get online after the movie is over and it's the director daughter.

Stupid. Just stupid.

Aight, this is why I thought the movie sucked. Bottom line, though he was an evil dude and a bad guy, Mike C. and his father (Marlon Brando) Vito, had some compassion and love and power in their persona. The character leap that Al Pachino made in Godfather one, where he goes from a scared insecure kid who can't look you in the eye, to a hard boiled killer, and ruthless crime boss was fantastic. And he still kept his humanity.

The Andy Garcia character in the new one had no charisma, that guy just sucks. All he does in movies is walk around and try to smile with his eyes or whatever. You don't see any emotion behind the brutality in his acting. You just see a street thug. Which is probably closer to the truth of what the mafia really is in real life, but in the movie, you want some feeling.

But the real reason the movie sucked is that they did it in 1990, and Al Pachino wasn't really that old of a fella back then, so they greyed his hair, and made him walk around like a feeb.
They did this to make it believable that he was old. But it wound up making him look tired and weak.

The strong powerful mafia don from the past two movies, now acts slow, decrepit and pitiful.

It was like taking Bruce Willis from Die Hard or Jack Bauer from 24 and making them weak and old. The audience wants to see Al Pachino strong and powerful, kicking some major butt.

Not wandering around, giving his power to Andy Garcia so he can hook up with his old outdated wife again. Throw in the bad acting from the directors daughter, the lifeless performance of Andy Garcia and the stupid ending where you think Mike C. dies of a heart attack on the steps with his dead daughter, then it shows him dying as a super old man in a chair in Italy, and you get a big stinking pile of super heated turdville.

I wish so bad I never would have watched it, and just left the impression of the late 1950's Al Pachino sitting in that chair, smoking his cig.

On the topic of Sophia Copola, she's also responsible for one of the world's worst movies, Lost In Translation.

Though its not a sequel, so I'll just shut up now.

What, did she direct it?
