Check out this story written by someone who thinks the Da Vinci Code has had a positive influence on Christians -- that is to say it has made them reaffirm their faith. What do you think? Do conspiracy stories (if you want to call it that) like the Da Vinci Code only further entrench people's beliefs?

For me personally, the Da Vinci code did nothing to my faith. I am a Christian, and I am solid on what I believe. I find the notion of writing a fictional account like this about Jesus completely blasphemous, so I will not buy the book nor watch the movie. I did watch a special on prime time tv to learn what the book was about.

I do think that it will get some people to want to explore the true path that Jesus took. So, I hope that there is some good that comes out of this.

I dont think it will do much. I think people who believe will stay that way and others that question will still question. I dont think it will increase one way or the other.

If a Christian jumps ship because of this book then their faith wasn't that strong to begin with. I agree with Mys, it shouldn't sway people one way or the other.

The only thing that will change is Maude and Mavis Bible Thumper will be out protesting the movie without having seen it all the while spitting out Pat Roberts-esque drivel through their tooth.

The very fact religious groups are asking that a disclaimer be put on the film is utterly retarded. It's a movie, not a documentary. Are we going to have to put that Garfield's A Tail of Two Kitties "is a work of fiction and not a reliable source of information on Christian theology"? How about Ice Age 2: The Meltdown? Woah, there better not be cavemen in there! What about Jurassic Park? Many Christians believe the Earth is only 6,000 years old. How can there be dinosaurs? It's the devil!

I'm with you, Heck... what's next? Give me a break. A disclaimer.

We need a disclaimer on a movie which is based on a book which gives an alternate theory rooted in another book which has been revised several times over thousands of years. A little overboard, I think.

Producers and/or studio says they have no comment on what will or will not be in the film. They might puss out and do it, dunno.

It's frakkin' ridiculous. They shouldn't do it.

Because, if they do, then ANY religious movie made, will have to hold a statement, in my opinion, before hand, stating this this is only fiction. You know, there are people out there who do NOT believe the bible is truth... so, I think that if they are going to say that a disclaimer is needed before the movie, that it should be in ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL movies.

well at the beginning of the book i think it says that "the things in this book are true) or something like that. and some book stores put it on the non fiction or historical areas ... thats complete coblers though it is nither ... its a conspiricy thoery ... but a disclamer .. .thats just rediculus

It says the book is completely fictional, but descriptions of artwork, documents and the layout of buildings is authentic. Definitely shouldn't be in the non-fiction section of a bookshop

There is an undeclared war out there and the weapons are no longer swords and shields. It is the marketplace.

It is wholly possible that Christians are weakened by market directions. The trend is to cast doubt on what we believe in by making such "antis" projects or programs very lucrative. Discovery and National Geographic channels seem to have fallen for this. They are making programs that their owners or managers feel is in great demand and would allow better business.

Could it be possible that it is also making Christians turn to each other and self destruct as a faith? As it is said, you cannot serve two masters....

Nonetheless, Dan Brown may have valid points that he cannot prove. Writing fiction would keep him from gathering evidence that could help him in turning ideas into a history resource.
