Greatest "invention" of the 50's

From the 50's, what do you think was the greatest invention... and if it's not in the poll, vote for 'other' and tell us what you think.

WOW. I'll have to think on this--it's really a tough choice!

What the heck.. I went with the modem, because it brought us communication all over the world! And, we're all addicted to the internet.

I went with Hydrogen bomb, as it helped us win the cold war and smoke those communist Ruskies.

I decided on the laser, because it is used in so many things and is really useful. Plus, if not for the laser, many evil death machines used by villains in the attempt to kill superheros would not exist.

The other inventions that I considered for best were modem, solar cell, hovercraft, internal pacemaker, black box, and microchip.

keeps little girls busy for hours and they leave you alone unless they fall and start crying.

The discovery of the vaccine for poliomyelitis.
