American Idol: Season 5 Forum

AI board is reporting in threads that the producer Nigell said NO rearrangements of the songs will be allowed. These folks will have to sing them as is.

Well, I think that is a good decision! I thought that it was VERY disrespectful when Ace wanted to change the arrangement of their song, and was put off by their answer of "NO"

Kris, I have a post here about that. It is off of Brian May's site. HE said that EDITING made it look like they said no. They actually did it like he wanted, then he told Ace that it was'nt working that way. AI manipulated things once again. Still, Ace should have not asked to change it.

And here I thought that they were going to sing songs that were actually Rod Stewart's. This is going to be a complete sucky week, in my opinion. Singing "standards" and NOTHING of what they would even be putting out. I will have a very hard time watching Tuesday night.

I know... it's a sleeper kind of night.

I wish it were Rod's songs, but since they are stuck with the theme, I'm hoping that Taylor does something romantic.

Sherry, he could sing in pig latin, and you would swoon over him.

I often wonder what these rocker types do when they get married and have to dance at their wedding to "their song." They could choose any of the songs Fuscia listed above, but none of those would be "their song", would they? They would be obliged to "dance" to a bunch of loud, ugly rock blasting. Sooooo romantic!

Now AZ there is that commercial that features all Hair band stuff "they taught us how to love" is part of the intro. I'm sure a hair band ballad makes them tear up.

Just because someone is a rocker, it doesn't mean that they don't like other music.

Actually AZ, my husband likes rock, speed metal, punk and sca. He also picked some Nat King Cole for our wedding.

I grew up hearing all those standards. My parents were 38 and 51 when I was born back in 68. I know them, and I love so many of them. I look forward to hearing some great music.

I think it will be nice to hear some standards. It seems to be coming back into style.

With a Standard type song its far easier to hear someones quality or non quality of star quality Hmm What did I say?

I am far from a fogey and I love Michael Buble' Clay Aiken. Rod Stewart and Harry Connick Jr.

I was thinking about an older guest artist who has a truckfull of hits the contestants would have a field day singing and its Neil Diamond.

Taylor could sing Sweet Caroline Chris Coming to America and on and on.

I am bummed out that Rod Stewarts songs are not being used. He has a bundle of hits to pick from.

To use the theme standards doesn't let us know for sure what they will pick and that is always death to them. Song selection has been so bad. All over the internet people are talking about it

Like AZ I too would like to hear Elliot sing "It had to be You". I wonder if Michael Buble's " Home" would be considered a "standard" Guess not as he is still in his 20s.

Imagine young guys picking "standard" type songs that Sinatra sang and making hit after hit with them.

When the lights go down low ,out goes the loud music and in comes the standards.

More rumors from a reliable blogger: Chris and Elliott where the first two to have their songs approved. Paris' song was only approved last night, and the rest did not get their first pick of songs.

Sheesh... giving them ONE day? I just don't know how much I believe this crap. Why approve it 24 hours before the show? They have a list of APPROVED songs, and yet, their songs weren't already approved?

Exactly Kris. I call shenannigans on AI! They pulled Taylor's song on Country week at the last minute, now they did it to Paris.

I smell a very stinky rat... and it's name is SIMON.

Simon took a lot of bad publicity this week over the comment to Taylor. It was all over the media. Ratings should be up tonight. Oh, AI has found that nielson ratings go up for the half of the show Taylor is on.

I'm glad that he's taken a lot of bad publicity... he deserves it. While I like the fact that he says the truth... I don't like the nastiness in many comments he makes.... down right hurtful.

I couldn't agree more Kris. Tell the truth, but don't be a total jerk and try to hurt people.

Oh, Damon told his dad last night exactly the words Simon said to Taylor. He actually remembered the "ridiculous" part. Damon was really offended by Simon's remarks last week. I should let Damon send a post card to Nigell.

You should... that would be something to receive a letter from a young boy, and hear his thoughts on it. GO FOR IT, SIS

Can you imagine how sweet it would be if Taylor heard about it? Little kids are members of the SP. You know Damon. He has a very tight sense of what is right and wrong. He is really all cheesed off. I'll have to buy him a post card. He will love doing it.

I remember when Ryan was talking to Taylor after one of his performances, a few weeks back, and Taylor talked about the SP, and pointed to that young boy in the audience, and said that he's a member of SP, and gave him a title. It was soooo cute. And I love that Damon is so passionate about things.

For anyone who has a gripe about AI this is who to send a post card to, and be sure that you include your return addy or he will not get it.
