It's been fun.
I am bored with it now so, it's time to move on.
IR Staffers. Keep up the great work. It is one of the best run and maintained Forums that I have run across.
Your up-time is commendable and the responce and post times are the best on the web.

To all, keep up the talk, it's good for everyone regardless...

Out.

Later USA1, too bad you won't be around when the election destroys the Republicans. Have fun at your freeper forums.

I will always remember such comical posts from USA1 (regarding the war in Iraq):

quote:
USA1 said this in post #12 :

Patience, patience and more patience.
Sitting on the edge of your chair, waiting to say "I told you so", has driven you nuts.
It is rediculous to think a country would go to war over speculations and incorrect information. The U.S. citizens wouldn't stand for it.
There will be:
A new free Iraq.
WMD found.
Saddams support to terrorizm.
Iraq links to Al Qaeda found.
French interferance and support for Saddam against the U.S. found.
This isn't speculation. It's fact.
It's just a matter of time, which we have lots of.

USA1, I'm sorry to hear that you're leaving INR. Esp because you bring a lot of conversation to the political forums, and help keep things "heated" I believe that you will be missed, by many, even if they don't agree with things you're shared. Come back, at some point.

There can be no debating politics and religion. USA1 has got the right idea.

You can debate anything in a calm, civil and intelligent manner. I respect USA1 and his stance and did enjoy his dicussion.

You just can't debate religion or politics in a bar. That's all.

Well it's probably not a good idea at church, either.

Oh, it's sooooo fun to debate religion at church!! And I actually go to a fairly open church that encourages people to do that in thie classroom settings... which does happen. It's all good, and healthy.

Really? I was kind of joking, but that would be inetersting.

I talked a kid out of Catholocism once. Felt bad.

Yeah... it's something that we do.
One time, about 3 years ago (I think) we had a class going on The Di Vinci Code book. There was a lot of debate, and it was really, really good. People got a lot from debating different points of view. And, it didn't get nasty, or anything.

Well this seems to be the thread for doing this sort of stuff so I am saying goodbye as well.
I guess it's just not as fun as it used to be and it's time to move on to other things.
I will miss talking to most of you and reading your posts and seeing other points of view but that's the way it is.

Anyway stay cool

I hope you all come back. Half of those who leave usually come back. I think INReview has a bright future, and I'd like to see you all a part of it. Whatever you choose to do, be well.

I have been out from In Review for some time and went back recently - I could not help reply to a post I came across on
Well quite frankly I was considering leaving definitely too. It is worth debating with lots of people and it is a positive outcome to learn things through this forum - that's a crossroad where all people bring stuff on the table. And people you "know" through their contributions are somehow like friends you don't know the faces.
But indeed it is maybe time to move on.

Oh come on now. Is this an pril fools thing? Hahaha... there I laughed... there's no reason not to visit... agh... don't leave us! We love you!

I think it's a shame that USA is leaving. He certainly did stir the pot at times, and while that wasn't always fun, it was at least good for discussion. And ridicule at times, which we as staff tend to frown upon.

I didn't engage in too many debates or spend a lot of time in any of his favorite threads, but I did drop in on a few conversations now and again, and he sure did express himself...

Sad to see lodgebo and JY talking about leaving too. I'll definitely miss both of them.

To paraphrase Voltaire in reference to USA1's departure:

'I disapproved of what you said, but I will defend to the death your right to make yourself sound foolish.'

USA1 saw this day coming from afar off so he skedaddled months ago.
Others tried the old disguise approach by using a different nic.

Now Curley and all his personalities are trying to regroup

He'll appear once again with a different nic, if he hasn't already.
I can see him now, probably somewhere pounding sand

He stay this handle of potus, or goes back to CJ. That's it. There are NO other options... well, other than being banned from INR. So, no worries, mate. You will know it's him.

I think USA1 is really Donald Rumsfeld. But "oneofpeace" is right, he'll be back sooner or later with a new handle but spouting the same old garbage...Donald(USA1)Rumsfeld will probably go back to his old day job of selling WMD's to tinhorn dictators like his old pal Saddam. He can wash his hands all he wants but the bloodstains will never come off.

He'd have to, because I remember him saying that he supports the government no matter what. He'll have to change his tone a bit if that's true, though.

I've got a feeling that 'USA1' wasn't a nom de plume, but his real name. And I bet his children are called USA2, USA3 etc.

USA1 and Curley Joe refused to debate with me once I'd accused them of being 'Ameri-can'ts' – can't provide sources; can't admit that the invasion of Iraq was/is an unmitigated disaster for the Iraqi people and, to some degree, the US; can't understand why some people are sceptical about the so-called war on terror etc.

I thoroughly enjoy debating with people of opposing views. But, in my opinion, they didn't have views, only prejudices, blind patriotism (the cockpit of intolerance/fascism) and a sincere disregard for anything that ran counter with Bushian foreign policy, which, as it turned out, was unmistakably foreign to everybody (except USA1, Curley Joe and Bush!).

Good riddens to them, I say.

Preston

I absolutely remember him saying this too Gab. Now we will see the height of hypocrisy so often displayed amongst these right winged zealots.

You know I just thought of something. Remember when the republicans were trying to do away with the filibuster? Man, they most assuredly ducked another bullet that would have been further attributed to their own demise.
