Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic Superman Returns. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.

The man of steel is finally with us again in the epic installment 'Superman Returns' at the helm of 'X-Men' director Bryan Singer. The plot focuses on Superman questioning if he is the last survivor of the doomed planet Krypton and without a word to nobody goes in search of its remains to find nothing and return back to Earth where he finds that the world no longer needs a hero... and neither does Lois Lane. Lois has also moved on with her life in ways that can only hurt Superman in more than one way. One person who isnt happy with Supermans return is his longtime nemesis Lex Luthor who is fresh out of prison has another scheme up his sleeve. Superman must overcome his most daring obstacles yet and reclaim the heart of Lois and go out to prove that the world needs an example to follow... and a hero.

After the battle with General Zod and his gang of Kryptonian super-villains, Superman (Brandan Routh) mysteriously disappears for six years. After searching for more possible survivors from Krypton and finding none, Superman returns to Metropolis to re-assume the identity of Clark Kent. Once he returns, he discovers that Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) is in a relationship and also has a son. Superman also discovers that Metropolis has learned to live without him, causing him to lose his motivation to fight and protect. To make matters worse, Superman's old nemesis Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) has devised a plan to defeat the Man of Steel, for good. Superman must put his troubles behind him in order to protect his lost love, and the city who lost faith in him.

I LOVE Kevin Spacey. That guy is a GENIUS as an actor. I think that he will become the role of Lex Luthor, and make that character so much more hated then ever before!!! Can't wait to see this movie. Not that I'm crazy about another Superman flick... but, Kevin's role in this has me totally intrigued.

THE BUZZ: The poster for this movie should be a revolving door, since so many directors and stars have come and gone we don't remember who did what when. Singer abandoned X3 for this, and ironically, new X3 director Brett Ratner was once attached. After a Scarlett O'Hara-style search, newcomer Routh was picked to fill out the red and blue tights, and Bosworth trumped a number of other actresses for the role of Lois Lane. Warner Bros. is betting heavy on this, and you can bet there are knives out as well as fanboys. All we can say is, you better not mess up, Mr. Singer.

Pretending that Superman III - V didn't exist is fine by me.
