I will not watch it. They totally defame Jesus, and I will not give any money to people who do that.

I won't watch it or read it. It's fact plus fiction anyhow, with silly conspiracy theory's. I'v seen enough on Dateline specials to know the basic gist of it.

Waiting for the video to be in the weekly section of Blockbuster

I'll see it - in theatres. I liked the book, thought it was interesting. I'd like to see how they make it into a film. The cast is great, Howard's always great. Should be a good time at the movies.

I will see it... and eventually, I will read the book as well. I'm very interested in something like this. I believe there is more to the truth than what is in the bible. So, I'm all for it.

I will see it. Normally anything with Tom Hanks in it is worth seeing. Plus the fact that I enjoyed the book.

I read the book...its really good!

Tom Hanks doesnt really fit the part...but when I heard it was Ron Howard directing, it didnt surprise me that Tom Hanks was in it. He's in virtually every Ron Howard film. Still though...Tom didnt fit the part, to me anyhow. Harrison Ford fit it better...but oh well.

Ill still see the movie..

I agree with you though...there is more to the Bible...and the theory of the DaVinci Code is interesting...how people can knock a theory when they dont even know if their theory is true is beyond me. Im not saying this particular thing is true...but hell, who really knows? Not I. The mention of DaVinci's Last Supper painting was especially interesting though.

I saw a thing on 20/20 or PrimeTime on it.

I'll certainly watch it. Not about being open-minded on this one, it's just that I accept this as fiction and will run with it as such. I'll look at the story arc, the plot twists as the character uncovers more of the "mystery" and navigates himself into more impending danger. I'll listen to the music. I'll evaluate the level of acting and the cinematography, pathetic fallacy, etc. I'll even look at some kid playing on the streets of Rome or one of the Bishops in the Vatican and think to myself, "that extra probably did 2 - 3 days of work, a lot of it sitting in a waiting room "preparing" for when they'd be called upon, just to have 1.5 seconds of screen time." That's just how I am...

Besides, after his string of 4 - 5 best actor nominations in as many years, I'll watch just about ANYTHING Tom Hanks does. Especially after he brought The Polar Express to the big screen.

Yes, I will see this , uh, what do you call it?

Oh, yes, just a movie.

However, I will not purchase a ticket for this movie....would not pay a dime to see it.

So, my strateegery is to purchase a ticket for another flick showing near the same time as the Dav inci 'mode'
and then walk into the showing...

Sneeky, yes, illegal, no.

Yes, because all these people started protesting it, so I figured I should see it.

I envsioned Harrison Ford the entire time I read the book - I couldn't help it! The story is a throwback to a form of Indiana Jones style adventure and intrique (without the monkey brains, whips and hair raising, edge of your seat escapades) which made it a very fun read for me.

I'll see the movie for sure.

The majority of people I know who read this also pictured him the whole time as well.

This film had Harrison Ford's name all over it! What was Ron Howard thinking??

He was probably thinking the same thing that a lot of other people think: Tom Hanks is an AMAZING actor, and he can fit into any role. He becomes that character, and makes it all that much more real for the viewer.

Tom Hanks is a great actor...Im certainly not disputing that...but Ron Howard puts Tom H in every movie he makes. This has been going on since Splash, which is fine...but...sometimes, a particular actor doesnt "fit" the part.

As is in this case. When you read it, you'll understand.

I think Mystic's right, to an extent. This movie will be like nothing Tom Hanks has previously done. But, to be perfectly honest, I think he'll be able to handle it. It may be the movie that starts him off in thrillers. He really needs to change his image anyway.

Hanks is a chamleon dude, he can do anything. For real. I believed he was the guy in Saving Private Ryan. Know this with also knowing my favorite movie of mine is Bachelor Party. I love that movie. Total.

Not to mention Big.

Forgot about Saving Private Ryan. He rocked in that.

You guys are taking me wrong here. I love Hanks. I loved him in Ryan, Gump, Philadelphia (great movie), Big, Batchelor Party, Splash, Apollo 13, etc. He's great. Again, Im not disputing that. Im also not saying he wont be good in here. But if you all read the book, you will see Harrison before Hanks.

IMO...and Im not the only one who saw this.

I don't really imagine actors when I read books. I kind of just build up a random face from the description given. I have to say, though, I imagined someone younger than Harrison Ford. Early 90's Ford, perhaps.

I dont normally either. In this case, I pictured a certain person, and his face resembled Ford...

Then again, the gal in the book had burgundy hair, and lo and behold, its a brunette playing the part.

So, she didnt fit for me either.

There are times where I REALLY imagine the person who would portray a character, esp when I find out it's going to be a movie.

And, I can see where mystic is coming from. Even though Hanks is a great actor, it's not who she was seeing for the part, as she read the book. Understandable.

I didn't realize, mystic, that Hanks was cast in all of Ron's movies. I guess that they just really enjoy working together. Or, he knows that it will be a success with such a seasoned actor, to cast him in one of his flicks.

Dont get me wrong...Howard doesnt put Hanks in all of his movies, but I think this is the third time they have teamed up...I know Penny Marshall had Hanks in two of her films as well.

In sure Tom will be great in this movie...but I still feel that there is someone who could have done it better....for me anyhow.

And that's probably true, mystic. There are a lot of movies that I've liked the actor chosen, but, I've thought to myself that someone would have been better. Totally understandable!

Both those men are amazing actors.

Ford: Regarding Henry, The Fugitive, Indiana Jones, What Lies Beneath.

Hanks: Saving Private Ryan, Big, Forrest Gump, Catch Me If You Can.

Both very diverse. But Ford has already done Indiana Jones. Hanks has not. So... chaulk it up to that if it's driving you nuts.
