| Posted by: fuscia | | I'm working on it. There is nothing but rumors floating around as of now. There is a crazy one that Taylor is going to sing a John Denver song, but his person who posts in code said he would do a ballad this week. Still trolling for news.
ah hem IT'S TAYLOR TUESDAY! WOOO! | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | No, it's CHRIS TUESDAY!
I bet that there are a lot of rumors flying around.
I so want to know which country song Chris decided to go with.
I hope that it's Shameless, by Garth Brooks... but, I'm not holding my breath. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: fuscia | | Dang, it is tight on the rumor front. AI cracked down on posting spoliers, so it is next to impossible to find out what they will sing. If only they would post on INR. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | Yeah... if we could get 'em on here, that would be great!!
Could you imagine having Chris and Taylor coming to our board? *sigh* *swoon* *THUD* | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: fuscia | | The contestants usually have a close friend or family member post because they have zero time. Hopefully right before the show airs, we will get some news of the songs. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | There's a Chris Daughtry web site where songs of his AI performances are posted, and they put pics of him up as well. Some of Chris' friends run it. It's totally cool, because you get real info on Chris, his family, etc... | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Amazed? That's a wonderful song... and I think that it will be nice to hear!
Though, I did want Shameless... but, Amazed will do. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: niwrad428 | | I'm watching the show on DVR and I'm up to Katherine. Up to this point my vote would go to her. She was not good at all and she spends WAY too much time trying to play to the cameras. Tonight I think it actually kept her from concentrating on the song. I will save my vote until after all the performances. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: mystic | | I voted Taylor to leave. Country Roads?????
Good for John Denver...Terrible for Taylor.
He made me cringe tonight. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: niwrad428 | | I have to stick with my vote for Katherine. Bucky was the only one after her and I think he sounded better! Actually, after hearing the recaps at the end of the show Mystic may be right, Taylor may just have beat out Katherine for the worst. But I'm going to go ahead and stick with my first thought! | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: CountryChick | | I decided since people told me I should voice my opinions on the every week threads I would. So now you get to hear every last one. LUCKY YOU!!!
Last night was okay. Kelli blew everyone away with "Fancy" by Reba McEntire. I love that song and she didn't screw it up. It was PERFECT for her. Chris did okay. Now Mandisa did a good job as far as vocals but the song choice was okay. It is a little hard for me with that one. Shania Twain is my all time favorite country singer. She was the first country singer I liked. Now Paris, good strong voice, still don't like the attitude but she did mess up her lyrics. Now the judges don't know country enough to know that but she said "What kind of love would that be" instead of "What kind of life would that be" Yes very minor but her attitude still bugs me. It is almost like she tries to act more mature when she really isn't. Still she has got a good voice but still even in a singing competition and in the 'business' your voice isn't everything. It is mostly what it is but you also need a good down to earth and sweet personality. Bucky needs to work on enunciating. Chris did okay. Katharine sang good vocals, don't know the song. Still lovin' her!!! Ace needs to go. I didn't like what he did last night. The song Elliot sang reminded me of something 'chicken little' would sing. No offense, good song with good vocals, just thought I would point that one out. Well it will be interesting to see what people say to my observations. Can't wait for tonite!!! Kelli still beats all of them!!! (And not because I like country cuz I love Chris also) Kelli just had it last nite.

No, you don't have to do that, at all. We just set up a little sub-forum within this AI forum, to allow people to have their own threads, if they would like. You can post it here, or there, Darci. Your choice, hun.
And darn it... I was looking forward to reading it this morning too
Now I have to go to work without my "shot of Darci" *sigh*

| Posted by: illuminate | | I voted Mandisa off. She just sounded awful. So did Taylor, but I like Taylor. Chris was great. My favorite singer singing my favorite country song! If anyone else had sang Keith Urban i would have freaked, he did the song good. I can't believe Bucky is still in this show.
And my McPheever is going away, she's been sucking the last couple of times. she needs to choose better songs. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | NEWS ON TAYLOR: Taylor has strep. They had to move Elliott out of their apartment to contain this outbreak. This is being reported all over the AI board. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | I knew that Taylor was off last night... like you and I talked about, Sherry. But, I thought that it was just due to him singing country. You said that he looked like he wasn't feeling well, and didn't sound right. My partner, Shannon, has strep, and has been in bed for the past week, and is having a hard time doing anything. So, I can only imagine how Taylor is doing.
As for Elliott, he has severe diabetes, and can't get sick, so that's why they've moved him out. | | Reply To this Message

I couldnt agree more!!
However, the reason she looks confused and spaced out is because she is utterly clueless.....ALL THE TIME!

| Posted by: CountryChick | | Okay first thing it would matter if she had the brains of a 2nd grader, the thing is that Kellie CAN sing. She doesn't always look clueless she is just too innocent for her own good plus she has got an awesome voice. And she loves to talk...I don't know what is wrong with that. I have liked her since her audition. She is not some snot nose that thinks that she is the hottest thing since sliced bread. *cough Paris cough Ace cough* I agree with the people that different styles work for different people. I like Chris, I sorta liked him at his audition but I like him even more now. Not sure about Taylor yet...he dances like he is having a seizure..no offense. But yet again it is a singing competition...and he has a um..smooth voice. If you know what I mean. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | Taylor news: he had been rehearsing a Hank Williams JR. song for three days when AI told him they could not get the song cleared. He had to pick a song that he knew and the band could play on short notice. Not sure how reliable the source is on this one, but I thought I would throw it out there. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: ProVocalist | | Greetings, friends! I'm Darci Monet, singer/songwriter/freelance writer and this is my weekly critique of the Idol contestants' performances. Sorry I'm late - I got confused with the new forum and then simply forgot to come back cuz this week's been weird and busy. So here's my gut-reaction, one-listen-only review for this week!
Okay...fair warning...I have had a long, trying day and a crick in my right neck and shoulder that's about to kill me. I'm GRUMPY. And tonight being country night has done nothing to improve my mood. Not because I hate country music or anything, but because not EVERYONE can sing it well and we have seven out of nine whom we can assume don't. Oy vey. Well, let's get this show on the road.
"THIS...IS...AaaaaaMERicanidol." Thank you, Ryan. Dude...what's with the scruff a la Don Johnson?
Oh goody...I haven't seen Kenny Rogers in years and now I see his brand-spankin-newly-purchased face twice in one week (he just made an appearance on Nashville Star last week)!
Taylor's up first in the throw away spot. And I now see why. He didn't get warmed up till the second verse...I don't think he liked this song at all. And I don't think the judges will, either. No, they don't. I love John Denver, but I didn't love John Denver on Taylor. What a bummer, cuz there are a zillion wonderful honky tonk, blues-based, soulful songs in the country genre that he could have absolutely tore up. I never thought I'd see the day when Taylor had no energy, but...there it was. Aw, man. Now I'm sad.
Mandisa better save it cuz we're already off to a morbid start. Another poor choice. It just didn't fit her voice...her voice is too large for a wussy little Shania song. A million beautiful, heart-warming country ballads out there, sister. You could have chosen one.
Take three with Elliott singing the classic "If Tomorrow Never Comes". Well, it's the best vocal so far for the evening. However, performance-wise all the energy he gave us last week was lost in his little "Ohgodi'msingingcountryhowthehelldoigetthroughthis
" side step. I would have raised it up a whole step and then I think his vocal would have REALLY soared. Not great for Elliott, but not bad, either.
In the montage Paris sounds to have chosen the right song. Ouch, shaky opening notes and she hasn't quite caught up with herself. Well, I can tell ya from experience that this is a deceptively difficult tune to sing and it showed for her. She held on by a very thin thread - and Paula actually hit it ALL on the head! And Simon's smoking crack. Ugh. Moving on...
Ace is supposedly going to wow us, implies Kenny. I am not familiar with this song, but I think it's the latest from Keith Urban (who rawks). Ace is pitchy as usual, though I do feel it was a good song choice for him in general. He seemed to tone down his "too sexy for this show" theatrics a little, too. So I have to say overall one of Ace's better performances. Did he win me over as a new fan? Mmmmmmm...yeah, that's still a no. When I see him on a gargantuan billboard in his Calvin Klein underwear as I drive down the Sunset Strip one day, I might change my mind.
And here comes Kellie with her $300 hairstyle and her excuses for seafood cluelessness. OH GOD NOT "FANCY"!!! *beating head against monitor* Here's your one chance, Kellie...and you're lettin' me down. She starts off in the audience barely keeping up with the downbeat, then bottoming out on the low notes, that spark she had during the semis is STILL missing, and there she goes pointing on the word YOU (ACK!!!!)...she's supposed to be in her element here and that was just nothing but a hot mess. I'm sorry I don't agree with the judges at all...more pimping for one of their preferred front runners. Cute top, though. There, I said something nice.
Please save us Chris...oh please. TAKE THAT, ALL NAYSAYERS WHO THINK HE CAN'T DO ANYTHING BUT YELL. So there's that. To be fair, he did slip under pitch a bit a few times, but it was nice to hear him sing sweetly.
Simon's gonna HATE Katharine's song choice (and indeed he did). That was the most fun I've ever seen her have on this show, I believe. She sang really well, hit all the right notes, utilized the stage -- even if it was still slightly mechanical, she still did everything right and I don't think she'll have to worry about bottom three this week.
And Bucky closes the show (thank you Kenny for mentioning his diction). And...is this a country song? I never thought it was. *scratching head* Anyway...Bucky's doing alright...I think the best Bucky can do, at any rate. He was over and under the pitch by hairs all over the place as is almost his signature by now, but his performance skills keep improving every week.
Overall, another very boring show. For country done right in a singing competition, watch Nashville Star instead.
Soooooooo...?

First off....please note that this is nothing personal against you. So dont take it that way,
Anyhow....it would matter if she had the brains of a 2nd grader...(not to mention you are close in age to guessing her brain capacity). The reason it matters is that she is TOO OLD to not have a brain enough to think. There is nothing wrong with redoing high school or in her case, elementary school. So, yes...it matters! Its no wonder other countries think we dont give our young people enough education when we have people like Kellie running around.
Secondly....she is clueless. Innocent, perhaps, but there are many innocent people who are not clueless. You cant state that her cluelessness is due to her being innocent. The fact is that she is clueless and it would be a shame to have someone without any sense at all representing America in this case. I mean isnt it bad enough that we have Jessica "Is that Tuna?" Simpson? Must we add to our reputation by adding another dense person to our claim to fame representatives?
Who cares if she can sing? There are many people in this world who can sing just as well as she can. There isnt something that special about her voice. She is just one in a crowd of many.
What she needs is an education...and quick. Education in her case should take priority in her life. She might regret it later in life.

| Posted by: Lawless | | I strongly agree with you, mystic. And let me just add, if this is all an 'act' on her part, she's good! Come on, who's never heard of salmon? We study about them, in junior high biology (which is a requirement in US schools), about migrating up stream. Sheesh.
She needs a strong education... because I truly don't want someone who comes across as an idiot, representing an American Idol. Then again, in my opinon, they aren't really idols... it's just a title. An "idol" must become an earned status, and it isn't simply because one stands on stage and sings a song (in my opinion).
We don't need another "dumb blonde" in the spotlight. Just like I don't want someone who can't speak by putting a sentence together.
Kellie has an okay voice... but, it doesn't stand out like some of the others. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: ProVocalist | | And regarding Kellie...two things:
1) I think it IS an act with her. These days you can't win a beauty pageant by being stupid. The questions they ask in the interviews are SERIOUS questions. I have a friend that went to Miss Tennessee about ten years ago and she was clearly - CLEARLY - the hottest chick on that stage, just stunningly beautiful. But bless her heart...she was all foam and no beer and did poorly in her interviews because of it. She didn't even make runner up, but came in fifth or something. So I smell a good actress in Kellie more than anything else.
2) If she IS that dumb, we have enough vapid specimens on red carpets right now to last us a lifetime, we don't need another. We have so many in fact, that Pink just wrote and released a song about them! | | Reply To this Message
