I've come to a point where I want to smash the computer and cave my teacher's head in.

If any of you sympathise, or ARE in this situation (more or less) you can help me! You can also help me if you're in this brain-juice fix 'cause it requires alot of... analysis. lol.

anyway, I'm trying to incorporate 3 novels for a synthesis essay, one of them being BEOWULF. I'm trying to figure out how the theme of "Identity" relates to the epic of BEOWULF. Yes, there does exist the general theme, it centers the entire epic but I can't seem to relate any particular CHARACTER to put the load of my analysis in-- just that the sense of identity is central to the culture of the pagan Germanic and Scandianavian Society in BEOWULF.

*sigh, sigh*

Can't even find Lit Crits on it! Maybe the theme doesn't exist or coincides in a particulare character? or it's not so important?

all my thanks

-There is a monster in Beowulf lurking around killing people
-There is a person in Identity lurking around killing people

in Identity it's all this dude's split personalities coming together, and one of them is killilng all the others off. Maybe Beowulf could be an archetype for the monster that lurks inside the hearts of society.

How about you try Grendel? Then you can bring the bible and the story of Cain and Able into your discussion. Basically, from the get-go you are introduced to this character as being a descendant of Cain, therefore cursed.

btw, nice to see you again twisted_wizard.
