The Best/Worst of the Competition (May contain spoilers)

American Idol: Season 5 Forum

Okay I just started watching American Idol this season when my mom called me downstairs to watch some of the stupid auditions on Tivo. Since then I have been totally hooked except I did miss the week when they were in Hollywood.
I like Kelli Pickler that was one of the good auditions my mom showed me and I immediately liked her. I think she has a great voice and an awesome personality to go with that voice. Paris shouldn't be on there is my opinion because her mom and grandma should have contacts that they can connect her to. She has a great voice but I think she should use her mom's and grandma's contacts. American Idol is for people who sang in their shower or in front of the mirror with hair spray or a hair brush. I like Katherine and Mandisa also although I liked Katherine's first performance better then the one she did last night. I loved Mandisa's first performance last week and since I love country music although a little hard to look past the original I think she carried Faith Hill's song well. Ayla also showed some promise last night. I think that Brenna definitely HAS TO GO!!! She is like the Queen of all sluts, she like hangs off of Ryan Seacrest. She also has way too much arrogance. On the other hand she might be able to handle some of the hardships of the business unlike some of the sweethearts like Kelli Pickler although I think with her past she can handle anything.
Top Three Girls:
1.Kelli Pickler--liked her from the beginning at the auditions, the way she cut Simon Cowell off and started talking. My mom seems to think I talk a lot and I would do the exact same thing. Hummm???
2. Katherine---Loved her 1st performance, not too sure about her 2nd
3. Mandisa---Loved her 1st performance, a little shaky about the 2nd one since I love country and Faith Hill

The guys didn't impress me that much at least not based off of their first performances. Yea Ace is kind of cute but that is not why he should win. It is a VOCAL competition. Chris however did leave an impression on me when he sang "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi. Sway has got to go. He sounded like a hyeena. David, the guy who took on an Elvis song was kind of not smart because he doesn't have the range for it a long with the guy who sang the song by the Jackson Five. People are going to not vote for them because they pick too well known songs and don't even have the range or vocals for them. Bucky was also really good. At first I wasn't sure about him but then he sang pretty good. I think the guy who sang the song "One last Cry" has a really good voice. My mom thinks he won't get picked because of his looks but said he would be really good for singing the songs for the Disney movies. He just has that voice and on that part I agree with her on. I was sad to see Patrick go because I thought he had a good voice but like Simon said he didn't stick out. But still Sway should have gone!!!
I mostly like girl singers which is weird, I mean I like Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, and most of the male country singers but I also like WAY more girl singers who aren't country. At least individually.
Overall I think Chris is the guy I will be most rooting for.

We start up threads, specificallly to do with each nights performances, so please feel free to give your opinions on each person in their nights, and join us in discussing it all.

I can't say that I agree with you on your comments regarding Paris. There is no rule that says that she can't be there. Just because of who her family members are, doesn't mean that she can't try to earn her way on her own merit. Personally, I'm tired of people becoming famous because someone they are related to has opened the door for them. But, Paris has talent and she's is doing this on her own.

And you're right about Ace. He's a hottie... but it is a vocal competition. Ace can sing though. Might not be the best, but he does have the full package. But, in my opinion, Chris Daughtry is the best for the guys.

I think Kellie is a doll. She is so sweet. My favorite of the ladies is Katherine. My favorite in the competition is Taylor. I think his unusual voice just moves me.

Totally, mystic... Chris has such a raw talent, with an edgy voice, and he's totally bringing it each week. I can see him going all the way.


And I'm with you.... it's NOT country idol, and everyone has the right to be on American Idol. It doesn't matter what you sing. There are crooners, country singers, rockers, pop, r&b styled people, and everything else. This isn't just pop.

I really liked Kellie Pickler in her audition, and I still like her... but I don't think that she's got a strong enough voice. She doesn't STAND OUT each week, if that makes sense.

Okay Mystic while I agree with you on the whole Chris part cuz I really think he is a good singer. However changing American Idol to Country Idol would be stupid. See American Idol reflects on what kind of music the majority of America is listening to. Besides it is about the best singer winning not really the type of music they sing. Right now Country is popular. I hope you won't get mad at me for saying any of what I just said. I just think American Idol reflects on what the majority of America wants to have their next singer be. I however totally agree with you on the Chris part. I really like how he did last two songs especially the first one. I think he would have sounded really good doing "Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks because of his voice, it would have been perfect. Bucky did good with that one though.

Country Chick, I agree with you. Country is popular. I am not a big fan of Country music, but the contestants must like it if they are picking those songs.

I find it odd that so many in here dissed Bo for singing rock because as they said, this isnt "rock idol...but are okay with country.

First off...pop is more popular than country...

And BTW....what is up with Simon and Carrie Underwood. She sang last week and I thought her reception from the crowd was not good, and this week, Simon said something about her...and I just thought...wow, I wonder what she will think of that.

Personally, I just didn't like Bo, and still don't. But, I don't care what anyone sings on her, as long as they do a good job. Even if I don't like 'em... if they have a good voice, they should be able to sing whatever their style is.

I first want to say I totally agree with Lawless. As long as they sing good then I don't care what style they sing. I just personally like listening to country but that doesn't mean I don't want other people to win especially if they deserve it.

Secondly I think that the girls did really good last night and the guys did really well tonight. I am a little anxious about the results. My two favorite girls are: Kelli and Mandisa. Possibly Lisa. While my two favorite guys are: Chris and Bucky. Maybe Elliot.

Okay I just want to say this is the first week that I am afraid Kelli might go home. She was okay last night just not as good as she has been in the past. On the other hand Katharine was awesome. I like both of them and Mandisa who was also good last night. Chris was totally rockin' last night. Bucky was gutsy taking such a big hit of Stevie's.

Paris was being totally arrogant last night. Did anyone of you see the expressions on the judge's faces when she was showing off with Ryan. I don't like her now and I didn't ever like her. The problem is, is that she knows she is good. She has a good singing voice she just needs to get her head out of the clouds and back down to planet Earth. I hate people like that.

Now on the other hand back to this whole thing with Kelli not doing well, like she said it wasn't in her comfort zone and she is 100% COUNTRY. It would be like giving Paris or Lisa a country song to sing. It would be hard, very hard.

Those are my opinions. Just let me know yours.

I have a question, why must everyone be humble? Why can't I know I'm good and show it?

Okay first thing I don't think I will ever meet anyone harder on me then I am on myself. It is a good thing but usually it stresses me out. I push myself harder then my parents could ever do. I hear all about these kids who get straight A's but their parents would freak if they got more then one B on a report card. I understand what you mean about being humble. I am too humble sometimes it takes a lot for me to pick out my good qualities and a lot. But yet there is a difference from knowing you are good and knowing your good and being all arrogant about it.

A very good saying. All I am saying is that Brenna was really arrogant and look where that got her. Brenna who??? You have to be good and also win America's hearts.

We should start some predictions and keep track of it. Not sure how it would get done though.
I predict Mandeesa or Paris will take the win.I prefer Paris though. I only have one pick of the guys but I can't remember his name. He has the best voice of all of them but not the looks. No, it's not the Doogie looking dude or the long hairs.

USA1, I think that you're talking about Elliott Yamin. He has a wonderful voice... but he needs to do some SERIOUS work on his teeth. Makes him look really strange.

I LOVE Chris... but I don't want to see him win! He's got such a great voice, and I think that AI will change him.

The winner will be either Chris or Taylor. MTV predicts Taylor as the winner. Either way, they will both be signed by AI if they come in either spot.

Look at how different Bo sounded when he sang on AI this year. They ruined his sound.

I must have bad ears. Mandisa sounds like she has a pitchy voice to me.

Everyone else loves her, so I must be whack.

She seems nice, but she is a yeller. I don't like that overpowered voice.

Okay Mandisa just didn't do it last night. Chris was good, I actually don't think he did anything wrong. I thought Kelli did good but didn't show enough of her vocals when I know she can do WAY better. Katherine just seemed off last night. Elliot was good. Paris I so didn't like, I thought she did good with the song "Fever" last week. Just because I don't like her attitude doesn't mean I don't think she has a good voice. Last night she just didn't do good at all. Ace needs to go absolutely positively. Lisa was okay but not the song for her. Bucky did really good with his whole country thing.

I loved Taylor and Elliott last night. Chris was good. Overall the night was just o.k. No one was that exciting.
