cartoon controversy- what is more important |

| Posted by: Inner City Blues | | This is a tough question as I don't know if it's an either/or vote.
I mean, would you create an image of a prophet revered by over a billion people knowing fully well that they don't even draw pictures of him as it's been custom for hundreds of years? You have to ask yourself, are you merely expressing free speech or causing incitement?
I'm not sure how to answer this question because it's not all that clear cut to me. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: nikiTa | | The cartoon South Park is disrepectful of my Beloved....
A cross held upside down in a bottle of urine...and funded by the US government...
I see many many things on TV that go against what I believe in. Some call those things art. And would I want to stifle that person...maybe that person needs to get those things out in order to deal....
But the bottom line is...I don't watch South Park, I don't go to art museums that house such things...and I can turn the channel with the remote, I can turn off the TV with the remote. In fact, I don't even have to read the newpaper or internet news, or cable or TV news.
But kill someone, incite violence over such things? NO!!!!
Maybe that's the difference between my Beloved and the god of Islam. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: lodgebo | | Millions of people died in WW2 so we can have this freedom of speech and I do not think that we should giving up that hard fought right because a bunch of over sensitive muslims get upset about a cartoon.
We should be asking this question why were the muslims not upset 4 months ago when this cartoon was first printed. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | I had no idea that depiction Mohammad in any way was offensive. It is a tough call. It is insensitve to be sure and in bad taste, but it does not warrant all the destruction that some of the protesters are doing. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: nikiTa | | They believe Mo is a prophet....is he now elevated to a god?
I saw the cartoons and I don't see anything in the least bit wrong with them AT ALL!
I am glad those countries and those artists had the balls to draw them! | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Freedom of speech, period. If you're going to kill people, because someone decided to draw a picture of your "god" or whatever in the hell they call that man, then there is a serious problem with those "followers" No one will EVER take away my right to say what I want.... ever. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: fuscia | | It shouldn't be against the law to be in bad taste. It amazes me that people think that this is worth destroying property or killing. It is a cartoon. Hell, if someone drew an offensive cartoon about Jesus, would I be uspet? Yes, but I would most likely pray for them and get on with it. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Pippin | | Both are important, but I voted freedom of speech/press. I'd hope that whoever is speaking would have better taste than this, but it's still their right to print the cartoon. | | Reply To this Message
