Is it ever OK to break the LAW or committ a CRIME? |
| Posted by: HECK! | | Some people break the law every day, especially in their car: speeding, spitting gum out the window, not fully stopping at a stop sign, etc. That doesn't seem to bug them.
Are all crimes the same? If we speed why can't we steal?
If someone is homeless and starving, can they steal food?
Can a person take revenge on a murderer?
Is it all wrong? Is there some gray?

| Posted by: Inner City Blues | | I would have no problem breaking the law, especially if the law is unjust, I would accept my punishment and I'd also consider taking it to the courts to get the law struck down. Just because it's the law doesn't mean it is right. However, people should be within reason, you don't just break the law because you don't like it, there should be some reason to break it. But I'm only partial to breaking laws dealing with social justice, or ambiguous laws meant to give handouts to corporations, like copyright law, I have no issue lending my friends CDs, DVDs, software, and have them copy it and I do vice versa, as long as I don't turn into a distribution plant.
But Fair Use (in that I disregard some of the narrow definitions they have) and social justice are the big ones for me when it comes to law breaking. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Dekka00 | | I chose "bend" the law.
But I would be willing to blatantly break the law under certain circumstances.
I'm quite okay with vigilantism.
I much prefer it over the BS that goes on in Congress. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: illuminate | | Yes, I think "bending" is okay. Murder is NEVER okay - crazy people. Revenge or no revenge. And yeah, doesn't our gov't commit crimes all the time? With the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, that's a crime to me. | | Reply To this Message

When I am in a hurry...I speed, go through red lights, don't stop at stop signs, etc.
But then again, so do the police.
Really only other than traffic offences...I would only break the law if they were laws that went against my beliefs in the Scriptures. Like if it was illegal to worship Yahshua (Jesus), I'd still worship Him even under penalty of death. | | Reply To this Message

Yep.
Then I would do the jail time for them, after they got what they deserved, from me. | | Reply To this Message
